1st of April Early Morning - In friends we trust.
The door to Green Rescue’s dorm was slowly opened, a cautious glance inside to make sure no one was there waiting, or at least it appeared no one was there when Riley checked, so he snuck in and locked the door behind him. The swift footsteps that took the youth to his room were rushed, thoughts of Catherine and worries over his team and confusion of what was going on and what to do with Katie were all swarming the former agents mind. There was nothing more he could do for Catherine, sure he could have walked her to the gates, could have taken her away from all this – or at least tried to – but in the end he was part of a team and that took priority. The young woman was able to take control of her actions and flee here, she had the power and knowledge to get away, if luck was on her side then she would escape unharmed. Katie on the other hand was nothing more then a defenceless child as far as Riley could relate, unable to defend herself or understand what was going on. The infant he dotted on in place of the child he had lost, the one connection he had to his family and his old life, and dog or not, for Riley it meant the world to make sure she was protected from the dangers infesting the school.

Opening the door to his room, Riley quickly looked about, not seeing her instantly until a small head peered from out of under the bed, nervous yet aware it was him as she sniffed anxiously towards her owner. The dark brown eyes of the pup peered up at him, yet her movements were at first hesitant, until he kneels down and motioned for her to come to him, which she did thought the sounds and yells and confusion frightened her. There was a thought, just as Riley prepared to turn around, hearing the distant fire of bullets caused Riley to stare down at his white shirt. Carefully the former agent placed his loved pet onto the bed, motioning her to stay as he rushed to his closet, shifting through the clothes quickly and pulling out his old Initiative vest and the pants which folded underneath it, the mirror on the closet door however caught his attention as he held it, another brief glance offered down at the protective clothing. Hesitantly, Riley looked at the X-men uniform, he’d only ever worn it once on the field, it still felt foreign and new. Then again, did he want to fight this fight dressed as the enemy, or did he want to fight it dressed as the student of this school he had desperately wanted to become over the last few years?

Time was important, and the time able to be devoted to thinking limited, so Riley tossed his old uniform onto the bed and quickly grabbed at the black suit, kicking off his shoes and slipping into the uniform swiftly. Mere minutes were passing, though in times like this they could be life or death! Still, it was more reckless to head into a fight without protection, he should have thought something serious was going on earlier when the alarms first started… somehow it didn’t seem possible this could happen in the school though. The holster vest which held Riley’s weapons was also placed aside, enabling Riley to later put it back on once he was suited up and ready, his feet slipped comfortably into the boots and his hands into their sleek gloves. The idea of leaving the school haunted Riley’s mind, and without any thought his hands seemed to react to the insecurities, reaching for the glasses and cap, slipping the black leather cap over his head and placing the green lens specs over his eyes. Last thing he needed was to draw the Initiative’s attention while he was escaping this ordeal!

"Come on girl," Came Riley’s assuring words as he approached the canine, holding out his hands to her, and then offering another glance at his vest… as he picked her up he wrapped Katie with the vest to offer her that bit more protection. Wrapped in his arms, the young pup remained nervous and still, silent as Riley left his room and moved towards the vent in the laundry. First thing first would be to leave her somewhere safe… the only thing he could think of was leaving her with Michael while he went off to meet up with the rest of the group again, or at least help find other stray students. Perhaps what he was doing was selfish, he knew in many ways it was… but the solider also knew there was no way he could manage any more loss, not now for sure, not with all the changes he was already coping with. Once up in the shaft it was easier for her to move ahead while Riley crawled behind the dog, making their way towards where Michael’s body had been stashed. It wasn’t too difficult, and once Riley found the motionless team mate, holding a finger up at Katie, Riley gave a relatively simple order.

"You have to stay here ok? Stay… and no distracting Michael while he’s busy… just be quiet and stay, and you’ll be safe," A hand gently petted her, he didn’t want to say good bye, but he felt like a fool at the same time worrying so much over an animal.. only because he knew what others would have thought. However maybe the same idea’s wouldn’t be shared with Green Rescue, maybe they wouldn’t laugh, it didn’t help ease the feel of foolishness right then. He was scared something would happen, to him, to her, to the people around them. "You better stay safe, or I’m going to get really mad, and we all know I’m not so great when I’m mad," He smiled softly, petting her one last time as her tongue flickered across the leather before he tore himself away, reminding her as he backed off to stay, to be still, not to follow despite her urge the young canine showed to stay with him. It was hard for Riley, if he had to be honest with himself, to leave her there alone… but in reality she wasn’t, sure Michael was off elsewhere as Hood right now but if anything happened he’d know, he’d be able to sense the danger nearby, the team hopefully would be able to return and help.

Once back out into the halls, Riley withdrew two of his side arms and held them cautiously in his hands, first step would be to keep an eye open for wayward students… second had to be to reunite with his team mates.

(Not sure if I move him into another thread or if anyone wants to post in here)
