132 in the 600 is a joke what the hell are you talking about. that is slower than 30 second pace per lap. That is horrible!!! -WORD IS BOND

i think a time more like 128 is a good time to start off the season for a 600m runner

good time
So in order to be "good" you have to be top 15 in the county? What if you're a soph? What if you're a frosh? Give the guy some fair boundaries considering he said he runs a 5 minute mile...I'd say since you're a distance guy you probably don't have as much raw speed...I don't know you though...I'd say shoot for 1:33 the first time you run it and see how it feels or what you run, and work on it from there.

agree
i 100% agree with the post before me. you cant go telling a 5 minute miler to just start popping off these times that are pretty fast. and you have to start somewhere, and unless you have incredible natural speed i doubt your first 600 ever is going to be a 1 28.

Re: agree
for a 5 minute miler a sub 1:40 shud even be fine if u get below 1:35 than that is respectable and if u can go sub 1:30 than u r on ur way to becoming a regular 600 guy if u go sub 1:25 than u shud make states if u can go sub 1:20 look to be very competitve at states 1:15 than nationals will be fun 1:10 consider going pro and if u break 1 minute than u r GOd

quinn ran 157 last year, indoors and out. This in no way indicates a 1:19. Fiasconaro ran 1:55 consistanley, also was a 49. guy

Yea i respect quinn as a real mid distance guy, but i can't see him improving by 6 seconds. I think he'll go mid 1:23 still a real good time.

armory = actual air + banked + real surface = he'd prob go 1:19-1:20 in peak shape

yeah...
quinn is clearly more geared for the 400-800 rather than distance. but i agree improving by that much is very difficult to do in a year.

Last year only 9 people in the entire country were under 1:21.00. 4 out of 9 of them are sprinters and moved up from the 300 and 400 to try some 6's, and the other guys are all sub 1:55.00 half milers, so you need to have a pretty good combo of speed and strength to do it.

quinn, put him in the binn
lol 1:19?? sorry but NO WAY, he was an NF at states last year, and the winner was 1:21, with like the top 6 minus 1st place returning and ur saying he's gonna win this year, yeh right... 1:19 is not a time to just be handed to someone. How exactly did he improve from last year?? i'm expecting him to run the same exact times he did last year, not a second faster, lol much less 4 seconds faster

use some kind of grounds when u say something dont just claim things without giving a reason, cuz i see no reason he's goin 1:19

I think the kid who mentioned 119 doesnt have a firm grasp on 600 times. He prob just said that because he thought that was a good, fast time, not understanding how amazingly fast that really is.

i love quinn he's a great 400-800 runner he's proven that before but 1:19? i don't see that happening. i'll put him at 1:23 for this season at the best! he did run a 1:27 today so we'll see. remember the county record is 1:21 and the state record is 1:18. get quinn a good race at the armory and he could probably go 1:21-1:22. thats if quinn runs the 600 instead of the 1k as well. he did switch it up this week and if miller can run well quinn doesn't have to run the 1k.

quinn and sanchez went through the 400 this week in 59. then kicked. Last week sanchez and zillman went out in 55, that makes for faster times
