A fun time out (little later in the day)
(This happens on the same day a little while after the Danger Room thread with Frost.)
It was a quiet, cool day in NYC, the weather for this time of year seemed to move back and forth between sunny and warm, perfect for Spring Break and winters last few moments of life for the year. In this case though the fun weather hadnt quite reached New York but for the Blondie haired feral mutant Shalimar Creed she loved it.
She was raised in areas where cold weather took up a good portion of the year and her animal traits got her used to it quickly. On top of that her session in the Danger Room earlier on in the day helped her get warmed up in more ways then one. The ferals love of the cold weather though didnt mean she was so used to it she didnt need a coat. She had on a Long wool trenchcoat and a pair of jeans.
Shalimar walked down one of the streets of the downtown district looking at windows full of clothes, electronics, furnature, as she passed by. For anyone who didnt live near New York and loved to shop basically it was exactly what most people would picture one of the biggest shopping paradises in the world. Shalimar financially was in a better situation then where her and her brother were before so it gave her the chance to splurge every now and then.
She stopped for a moment to stick her earphones in as she pulled her Ipod out and chose picked one of her playlists at random and stuck it back in her pocket. She slightly nodded her head to the music stopping for a moment at something in a window that caught her eye. Shalimar as well as being a fun loving girl was always a bookworm at heart and her love of literature never weigned over the years. Making her decision up quite quickly she opened the door and made her way into a bookstore.
Oil slicked, Smog covered, and pest infested. Not to mention there were bugs along with those larger, blabbering insects. Sabretooth hated being in the cities. He'd prefer a good hunt in the untamed depths of a forest any day. Unfortunately, it seemed he's been drawn to this vile place quite a bit as of late. That was definitely a coincidence that he was looking to break as soon as possible.
This time however, it wasn't by his choice that he ended up walking this defiled land. The one he was tracking, they were the person whom chose the destination. It was his daughters choice, although it was doubtful she had picked up on his scent, he himself with all of his years of training, had a little trouble making sense of the millions and millions scent particles lingering in such a largely inhabited area.
As her scent grew stronger, Sabretooth observed A blond girl, fitting a fair resemblance to his daughter. It was hard to tell because of just where he was standing. But, judging by how fresh the scent was, he couldn't possibly doubt it was Shalimar. "Books..." He muttered softly. Sabretooth didn't much of her hobbies, but judging by her presence at a book store he could assume that.
Placing his black gloved hand onto the closing door, Sabretooth brushed off his matching coat of his with the free hand. He had a pair dark jeans on, so those shortcuts through trash filled alleys didn't really show. As he entered the shop, it felt a little awkward. Sabretooth always hated shopping, it was so much easier to kill the clerk and simply take what you want. That was how the five-claw discount was done.
"Ya' alright, kid?" He spoke from behind her, remembering what Shalimar told him about her brother. Sabretooth didn't really care about it himself though. The kid was dead. Everyone dies sooner or later. But, he wasn't going to say that to his daughter, she probably hated him enough.
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)
Shalimar had only been in there a short time and her interest level was at its peak.Rows and rows of different subjects plus a coffee house in the store, a common sight yes but for the feral it was a welcomed sight. She made a mental note in the back of her mind to get a drink before she left.
She had her eyes peered over a magazine, the current song on her Ipods playlist had finished and she had a pause in between it was then she heard a all to familiar voice in her ear.
"Ya' alright, kid?"
Her first reaction was once of surprise, at first she didnt turn she stood there a moment thinking about how she wanted to react part of her wanted to embrace Sabertooth the other part of her wanted to rip his throat out. The two had a relationship that was full of heartbreak but the young Creed always hoped that the two could have a relationship with each other but as of yet that hadnt happened.
Slowly she started to turn around not making any kind of quick movements but as she turned to face him fully she had a smile on her face and embraced him.
"I figured it was only a matter of time before Id see you again....Im very happy to see you dad."
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)"I figured it was only a matter of time before Id see you again....Im very happy to see you dad."
That was a definite surprise. His daughter actually seemed happy to see him this time. Her hug further deepened Sabretooth's confusion. He didn't know just what to do, Creed was frozen there, in a hug no less! In any normal situation, he simply would have broken such a gesture and followed up with a brutally graphic beating. But, this was his daughter, he couldn't do that to her.
After the initial shock, a look of discomfort quickly spread across his face. Sabretooth didn't like displays of affection, let alone public ones! His next thought was to ask the girl whether or not she had been using drugs recently. But, again the recent news of her brothers death came to mind. Shalimar had been through a lot, maybe now wasn't the best time be so cold to her. But, dammit! The hugging had to end now!! He was Sabretooth. A viscous murderer. A mutant supremacist. A paid assassin. Not a hug loving kitty cat!
"Errr... " Sounded the damn near speechless Sabretooth. Words were gone, who knew where they flew off too. But, his daughter wasn't your average dumb blond, she could hopefully realize how reluctant he was at the moment. But, after a second more of thought his decision changed. Despite his better judgment, Sabretooth decided to allow the hug. It was his daughter after all. It could be over looked right? Besides, they were in a book store. No one at the institute would believe it. So many there assume him to be a dumb brute, with exception of a few that know better.
"I been meanin' ta' track ya down..." He suddenly regained his ability to speak. It was truthful for once, he had since arriving in the state, planned on tracking her down. Unfortunately, the mansion wasn't exactly a place he could come and go from.
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)
Shalimar could sence once she had embraced her father that him being uncomfortable was a understatement. The two were never really the father daughter contact people, her father always seemed to have the stench of about him which was something truthfully she could never get used to... But then there was a lot about Sabertooth she could never get use to.
"Errr... "
For a moment Shalimar could tell her Creed was getting use to the idea of his daughter hugging him and slightly seemed to return the embrace which in its own right was a welcomed surprise, it was then that she slowly let go of the hug.
"I been meanin' ta' track ya down..."
"Well thats not a real surprise I had called you not too long ago about Brennan and being you cant come near the school I figured it would only be a matter of time before you would find me and Im a shopaholic so......it worked out."
It was then when a employee came up to the two with a helpful manurism about him.
"Hi can I help you with anyth......"
It was then the clerk had a chance to look at Sabertooths size and build and became a little uncomfortable. Shalimar knew things could melt over easily so she quickly anwsered.
"No we're doing good thank you though....."
Shalimar breathed a sigh of relief as the clerk walked off and looked up at Sabertooth with a small smile on her face.
"I know how you are about interuptions so would you like to go somewhere else and talk or do you have other plans?"
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)"Well thats not a real surprise I had called you not too long ago about Brennan and being you cant come near the school I figured it would only be a matter of time before you would find me and I'm a shopaholic so......it worked out."
What exactly did that mean? Was she indirectly calling him a coward?? Granted to the school wasn't a wise idea, but it most definitely didn't mean that it couldn't be done. With his notoriously twisted mind, telepaths weren't too much of a worry. Camera's and surveillance could always be handled. People might have to die, but he could do it. Victor Creed was no coward. He didn't fear the institute, nor would he. There was only one real threat in that building, and hopefully him those ginsu hands wouldn't be around too much longer...
As for Brennan, the subject was getting annoying. What more did the girl want from him. He listened to her blabber over the phone. Wasn't that enough? The kid was dead, nothing more than worm food, she needed to get over that already. There was no point in crying over it. It'd only make her weaker, that was something Xavier's place had done enough of already.
"Hi can I help you with anyth......"
"No we're doing good thank you though....."
And those very thoughts came to life. What a surprise. The clerk by all means was going to die. He was mere moments away from the joyous torture of feeling his entire larynx ripped from his throat, and crushed before his dying eyes. But, the shopkeeper was denied that wonderful fate, all because the weakness instilled into Sabretooth's very own flesh and blood. It was both pathetic and highly irritating.
"I know how you are about interruptions so would you like to go somewhere else and talk or do you have other plans?"
His gaze turned cold, his fanged teeth grit together accompanied by a very faint growl. He was of course facing the direction in which the shopkeeper left, but slowly he turned to face Shalimar. The expression faded a bit, but clearly he was still upset. "What tha' hell are ya' doin'?? Yer better than them... Da' ya' really think caring fer' humans is gunna get ya' far???" It was anger true, but it was derived from what he felt was best for her. Although she never really knew it, he did look out for her. He had done so for countless years unbeknown to her.
"What tha' hell good has Xavier's done fer' ya?!?! The sh*t they teachin' ya really helpin? Cuz, it sure as hell don't look like it helped yer' brother any!!!" Sabretooth's anger was rising beyond his control now. His amber eyes were quickly fading to white, which was never a good sign with him. It meant his feral side was taking hold, anger was consuming his every thought. "That what ya want?!?!? Ya wanna be maggot food too?!?!?" Creed was yelling now, spewing his venomous words like the girl meant nothing to him. He couldn't really help it now, rage was a hard thing to stop whenever it built. Those whom think he's cruel when in clear mind most definitely haven't had the misfortune of meeting the side of the notorious murderer.
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)*"What tha' hell are ya' doin'?? Yer better than them... Da' ya' really think caring fer' humans is gunna get ya' far???
Shalimars kindness started to melt away as her fathers words cut into her. She had been a killer in the past and had killed both human and mutant alike. The memories of those deaths had plagued her to this very day and as much as she tried to forget the killings like they didnt happen she couldnt. All she could do is try to change. Her existance at Xavier's school was what she was trying to make her life, to protect people who needed protecting instead of making them victims.
"Dad you know very well a killers mentality is cemented in my brain, Im a weapon like you are but I know when to use what I am for aggression and when not to. That Clerk didnt do anything but tryed to be helpful!"
"What tha' hell good has Xavier's done fer' ya?!?! The sh*t they teachin' ya really helpin? Cuz, it sure as hell don't look like it helped yer' brother any!!!"
Her fathers comments about who she was now she could take but the venomous comments towards her deceased brother struck a chord. Her Amber eyes gave way to a milky White as a low growl could be heard coming from the younger Creed. Her animalistic temper was something Shalimar had tryed to keep under control for fear of endangering other students or her friends but her father without anything but words was letting that side of Shalimar come out with a vengance.
"That what ya want?!?!? Ya wanna be maggot food too?!?!?"
Shalimar let out a lion like roar which startled everyone in the store as she pushed over the bookshelf that was to the left of her. Her eyes staring right at her father with nothing but rage.
"He's helped turn me into someone! Not a weapon, not a animal , a person! You dont realize what kind of memories I had in the back of my mind from years of doing what someone else wanted me to do! I killed for someone elses want.....Not my own! You want me to be just like you and I am in once sence but one thing Xavier has taught me is to be someone with control!"
It was then that the manager of the store along with four security guards walked up where the Creeds were fighting.
"You two hold it right there!"
Shalimar had enough of this! One interuption was enough and she was kind about it but with the animal within her unleashed she couldnt control herself. She grabbed onto the closest security guard by the neck and held him over her head.
"&*#^ OFF!"She roared throwing the guard threw a window
"There mutants get em!"
There was nothing she could do now but part of her liked the physicallity of the situation.
"Guess we cant have a quiet talk either way huh dad?"She said with a sly grin, she didnt know how her father would react but she knew hed jump right into the fight.
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)"He's helped turn me into someone!
Despite his enraged state, Sabretooth gave those words a soft snicker, apparently finding something funny there. "This ain't about that vegitable. It ain't about weapons, memories, killin' or even yer' damn brother!! Jus' plain, pathetic, you... " His were still seeping with venom, so much so that most snakes would be overwealmed.
"You two hold it right there!"
"&*#^ OFF!"
Great, now there were guards after them. Perfect. Sabretooth didn't have the reasoning behind it, nor did he really care to find any, but Shalimar was to blame for this one. If the little b**** had just shut her mouth and said 'your right dad', then this whole damn thing would been settled.
He still wasn't done with her though. "All yer god damned life I watched out fer' you. I didn't want ya to be me... You think I don't know I'm f*cked up?!?! That's why i wasn't around!! I left ya alone so ya could be normal, kid... So ya didn't hafta kill... wouldn't be involved in this mutant-human bullsh*t!" Slowly, he backed away, moving toward the door. "You were tha' first Creed given a chance ta' do sumtin' right... and ya' f*cked it up jus' like the rest'a us... Congrats kid." It was more so disgust in his tone now, maybe even disappointment.
When it came to the humans, shockingly, Sabretooth was backing away from a fight. He was leaving Shalimar to take care of herself. He didn't care anymore. She wanted to be at the mansion, fine. It wasn't going to weigh on his consience... if there actually is one, that is... If she died, she died. It didn't matter at the moment.
As his back braced against the door, Sabretooth pushed it open, and walked of into the putrid ranks known as New York. Although he was leaving, Sabretooth wasn't exactly taking short cuts like he might usuaully attempt. That would have required thought, something he wasn't stock full of at the moment. It was a foul place when Sabretooth isin a good mood, in a bad mood it's a disaster waiting to happen. Chances were he'd be the cause of quite of preceeding morning news stories.
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)
Ok Crystalls account is taking some time to get going so.......
Pretend this is a girlie for now ok!Oh dont look so pissed off Michael its only for now, we all know you're a boy.!!
...............................
It had been a good day, the fifth one in a row to be exact and it had been too long since that had happened. Some of the tension had left Crystals face, the dark patches under her eyes fading just a fraction as sleep actually turned out to be an option again. As she looked at her sisters smiling face and excited eyes something stirred in Crystal’s soul that could just have been hope but she stifled it immediately.
There had been too many times in the past when she had thought a miracle had happened, that the long nightmare might actually be over. Then something would happen to make Amber intervene as only she could and there would be forgetfulness and the sly creeping back of fear as Crystal watched and waited for her loving sister to vanish and be replaced by the dark, spiteful side of her personality. But not today! Please god not today.
It was the same prayer she offered up every morning but that didn’t make it any the less sincere. Each day of peace made her a little stronger. A little more able to cope with the strain of looking after Amber. It had been four years since their parent’s death, four years since Crystal had put her own life on hold. She had done it willingly and for the most part without regret, relinquishing her studies and chances of a career to devote herself to the thirteen year old to whom she had suddenly become not just an elder sister but surrogate mother and father as well. And she would have managed admirably if it hadn’t been for the frightening disorder the younger girl suffered from.
Dissociative Identity Disorder. The socially acceptable term for what was more commonly called split personality. That at least was what the doctors Crystal had consulted had diagnosed it as. The memory loss. The radical changes of behaviour. With no cure just drugs at best and a long decline into madness at worst. She wasn’t sorry that Amber had forgotten those examinations though she had been surprised at first. Until she realised that Dark Amber had been erasing all reference to them from the electronic diary that served as a repository for her sisters memories! That was when she had begun to question the doctor’s diagnosis.
Yes everything including the attempts at self preservation of the so called secondary personality corresponded to symptoms of the disease but there was so much more that the doctors refused to believe let alone take into account. Her sisters powers for example. The way she manipulated peoples emotions, out of kindness when she was her own sweet self but in a much more sinister way when her dark side took control. Imagination they all cried when Crystal tried to explain it to them, calling her overtired. Talking about stress!. Asking if she was really able to take charge of such a difficult sibling. That was when she had stopped going to them for help, preferring to struggle on alone rather than take the risk of losing custody of her sister.
But you can only take so much and as time passed things had only deteriorated. So much so that eventually she had tried a different route. One less orthodox perhaps but which corresponded better to what she felt was truly going on in her sister’s head. The church. They had listened to her talk of possession and exorcism with as much sympathy and as little conviction as the doctors had and in the end the result had been the same. She was overtired She should listen to the medical opinions no matter how unpleasant the prognosis seemed to be.
In a way she could forgive them for doubting her they had never come face to face with Dark Amber. They had never seen the smiling cruelty in her eyes or had their emotions hijacked by her awful powers. They couldn’t understand No one really could except Crystal and she could only hang on and pray that one day there would be someone, anyone who could offer her another solution to the seemingly insolvable problem of her sisters future.
Days like this one were what let her do that. Hang on. Today there had been laughter and plans and shopping. They had tried on clothes and eaten lunch in one of the little restaurants in the mall . Normal happy young women, enjoying each others company. As sisters should.
Now they had come into the bookshop, , just browsing happily and checking out the latest publications. Not looking for anything in particular. Certainly not trouble. But that was what they found all the same. The raised voices could have been ignored but the roar that followed them drew everyones attention to the pair who stood arguing near one of the displays A girl. Not much older than Amber, fierce eyes blazing in anger. And the man….dangerous, you only had to look at him to see that. A raw animal power about them both that flared and peaked as they hurled words at each other.
"He's helped turn me into someone! Not a weapon, not a animal , a person! You dont realize what kind of memories I had in the back of my mind from years of doing what someone else wanted me to do! I killed for someone elses want.....Not my own! You want me to be just like you and I am in once sense but one thing Xavier has taught me is to be someone with control!"
Xavier the name drew Crystal’s attention like a magnet. It had come up on the websites she had been consulting recently trying to find one last explanation to what was going on with her sister. Liking this one better than madness. Mutation! It would at least explain the powers.Give them at least another semblance of hope to hold on to. Xavier helped mutants gain control of their powers or at least that’s what was implied from the discrete references. And this savage girls words seemed to confirm that Though the control she claimed to have was anything but obvious. Crystal pulled Amber back protectively as an approaching security guard was suddenly lifted off his feet and thrown crashing through the front window of the store landing in a hail of flying glass that sent customers running screaming in all directions.
We should move too Crystal told herself reasonably but somehow she didn’t. These people were mutants. Just like she hoped Amber might be. The crowd was beginning to murmer that amongst themselves the words very soon building to an angry rumble that promised nothing good.
"Guess we cant have a quiet talk either way huh dad?" the girl said confirming Crystals suspicions that the two were in fact related. This ain't about that vegitable. It ain't about weapons, memories, killin' or even yer' damn brother!! Jus' plain, pathetic, you... " The words were cruel reminding crystal of what her sister was capable of when the change came over her. "All yer god damned life I watched out fer' you. I didn't want ya to be me... You think I don't know I'm f*cked up?!?! Yet despite everything there was love there, twisted, strange perhaps but love just the same. That's why i wasn't around!! I left ya alone so ya could be normal, kid... So ya didn't hafta kill... wouldn't be involved in this mutant-human bullsh*t!"
Crystal caught her breath She had known there would be further problems if Amber did turn out to be a mutant. Problems with acceptance, persecution even. But this outpouring of violence almost scared her off. Can it be any worse than what we have now she suddenly asked herself for once admitting just how bad things had actually become. Aren’t we going to end up like them one day if we keep on as we are. She thought they might. She thought that it might very well end up in blood and death if someone didn’t help them. Just like it seemed it would end up for this girl here and now as her father turned his back and walked away through a crowd that didn’t dare even meet his gaze.
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)
Amber had just been abot to examine a fantasy novel about faeries when the sound of raised voices and a roar caught her attention and caused her to look over in that direction. How couldn't it have? It had everyone curious to what was going on. "He's helped turn me into someone! Not a weapon, not a animal , a person! You dont realize what kind of memories I had in the back of my mind from years of doing what someone else wanted me to do! I killed for someone elses want.....Not my own! You want me to be just like you and I am in once sense but one thing Xavier has taught me is to be someone with control!" There was anger there in the girl's tone, rage even. and as Crystal pulled Amber back protectively, Amber only became more concerned to what might happen.
"You two hold it right there!" The manager of the store commanded, showing up with four security officers. This wasn't going to be pretty.. Amber could tell already by their expressions. "&*#^ OFF!" The blonde roared right before throwing one of the officers out of the hearby window. Amber gave a small gasp. There was no doubt in her mind that the officer had gotten hurt. She wasn't even thinking about the strength that the blonde girl had had to do that. "Theyre mutants get em!" Someone shouted.
Amber wasn't paying much attention to much of anything else that was said past that point, the hostility having been so clear and the violence becoming almost inevidable. She couldn't let it happen! Amber hated violence so much and she wanted everyone to just relax and walk away from this without any more damage being done... The large man who had been with the blonde girl had left and now there were so many people about to just jump on the girl.
She started figiting with her necklace, her decision on her next action already formming in her mind. She had to do something! This would only become more and more violent and messy if she didn't! Already, she started to get in touch of her abilities, letting her necklace go as she did so. There weren't too many people yet... So she wouldn't have to use too much and risk losing a major part of her memories... As she moved away from her sister a little and took a step towards the rising commotion, Amber acquired a sleepy look to her, her eyes glassing over and expression getting a distant look to it. It was an image she always got every time she used her abilities as just Amber and not Dark Amber.
An invisible wave of calm suddenly seemed to wash over the remaining security officers and the manager, along with the other people who had been about to gan up on the blonde. In a moment, they all seemed to just lose interest in harming her altogether, not seeming to care about whatever had been upsetting them about her. Her gaze shifted from the crowd and to the girl, her reaching out with her abilities and trying to sooth her too.
A slow exhalation of the breath came and Amber blinkked, her look returning to normal. Confusion tinter her expression though as she looked over ot her sister. "Crystal.... when did we come here? Last thing I remember is us leaving the house..." She spoke softly. It had happened again, a blank in her memories telling her that she must have had to have used her abilities again. A small smile came and a look of acceptance. "Did it work at least?" She asked quietly as she stepped closer to her sister, not wanting the conversation to be known to others.
Amber had lasted almost a whole week without having a memory gap, that was pretty good actually. She only hoped that next time, it could last longer, knowing that Crystal seemed to get bothered more by the memory loss than she did.
She looked around then upon seeing the broken mirror and the people milling about not seeming to even notice, she rose a brow. "What happened?" She inquired.
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)
Shalimar's anger was at its peak as she watched the guard go crashing through the window, her first response deep down was ":good:" Her temper wasnt ever of the highest tolerance and once that level had been reached the animal in her took over almost all the time. Sometime the results were mixed but as with what just happened this was not one of those times.
The Blonde haired feral tensed up even more as the crowd or rather what was left of them became hostile towards the mutant. Her father had just left her high & dry with the possability of her being severly injured or perhaps even worse and the sight made her want to puke. She had spent all this time thinking the next time father and daughter met that things would be at least a little different.....but it wasnt. The same fighting and anger that seemed to come with every meeting the two had which was something she had yearned at least once would be different.
As the crowd grew closer to linching the feral she had no control over what was about to happen to both her and them. Out of instinct her claws slowly appeared on her fingers and her eyes shifted to there catlike appearance. A low growl could be heard coming from Shalimar as her symbiotic other started to wrap itself around her starting from the arms.
"If you dont get the hell away from me I cant be blamed for what will happen!"
The crowd ignored her and moved in closer while another guard lunged from behind only to be wrapped up in a tendril from the symbiote clad ferals arm as it slowly started to crush his midsection.
"Do you want this?!.....I warned you to $%^& Off and you didnt listen! Why wont you listen?!"As the tendril crushed the guards midsection like a Python the crowds dimeanor suddenly changed as well as Shalimar's. The Tendril withdrew from the guard who fell to the ground, She watched as the crowd looked at each other and started to walk off. They had gone from nearly mobbing the feral to walking off as if nothing had happened. Shalimar also felt a peace to her and although she was still wrapped in her alien costume she was dostile it was then she noticed two that hadnt left.
"Did you do this?......"She said confused. The two seemed like they had come out of nowhere and the crowds dimeanor did seem to change after they did.
She knew what was going to happen Of course she did. Amber had used her powers for far less. Now, with the gathering violence lying heavily in the air, already materialising in fact as the mutant girl growled a warning that went unheeded by the other guards, Crystal could already see her sister preparing herself for action. I should stop her she told herself desperately. She will help and she will forget and then….there will be a gap into which evil will pour itself. It was always the way and Crystal wasn’t sure she could deal with it if it happened again. But still…they couldn’t just stand there and watch the crowd turn into a mob could they.
"If you dont get the hell away from me I cant be blamed for what will happen!"
Crystal looked at the defiant young woman before her, noting now the darkness that seemed to be entwined with her a living shadow pouring from her body to entwine and encircle the guard who had challenged her. My God! She has a dark side too. Are all mutants like that? she wondered. Split. Damaged. Like Amber.
"Do you want this?!.....I warned you to $%^& Off and you didn’t listen! Why wont you listen?!" ‘
There was anger and defiance in the voice as the crowd closed in and confrontation became inevitable. Except that it wasn’t Not any more. Crystal watched the change come over her sisters eyes the slow glazing as if she was removing herself to a place only she could visit Quickly the older sister looked away moving behind her sibling out of the range of whatever emotion she was about to unleash.
Even if it was a positive one Crystal couldn’t bear the thought of having her feelings changed again. It had happened too often over the years, motivated by a desire to help or the need to hurt depending who was inhabiting Ambers body at the time. And whatever the reason behind it Crystal hated it. Hated being unable to react as a normal person would, for better or for worse, Never knowing if the joy or pain was real, hers, and not the product of her sister’s power.
A power that was even now working its magic, defusing the situation with seeming ease. The angry people now looked relaxed, their mood switched in the blink of an eye from fury to a calm indifference that soon saw them leaving the bookstore and getting on with their lives ignoring the injured guards and the ruined shop displays as if they no longer held any interest. Even the wounded men had stopped their pained moaning as the unnatural calmness settled over them. .
"Crystal.... Ambers voice was confused as it always was at times like this. . when did we come here? Please don’t let her have lost too much. Crystal prayed silently. Not all the good moments of this last week . Please! Last thing I remember is us leaving the house A shaky sigh of relief escaped Crystals lips. Not too much then. Only one perfect day when they had been happy. Ill just have to remember it for the both of us then Crystal told herself as she so often had in the past. And this time something good has come of it, hadnt it?. Did it work at least?" She didnt even know what she had done or why she had done it Only that the price had once more been paid and her smiling face said that she had no regrets at paying it. "What happened?"
Where to start, Crystal didnt quite know but she knew she owed her sister an explanation One that was going to have to wait however for the mutant girl was coming closer the rage gone now from her face but no look of stupefied calmness on it either.

She sounded calm herself though inside her heart was racing. The situation was still dangerous as she had said and she didn’t want Amber caught in the middle of it if things went wrong. Look we’ll give you all the explanations you want but please…. She looked directly into the mutants feral eyes .Lets get out of here while we still can.
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)"Did you do this?......" Not even a second after those words passed the stranger's lips before Crystal slipped in front of Amber, standing defensively. Amber gave a worried frown, not understanding what her big sister was doing that for but knowing that Crystal was trying to protect her from something... Possably someone. She ws always looking out for Amber and Amber only wished she was able to help back as much. "Yes. Amber did it... But I don’t think this is exactly the place for this discussion do you. These people might be calmed now but that doesn’t apply to the others who’ll no doubt be turning up soon to see what all the fuss was about." Crystal stated.
What had happened? What fuss? Although she wished she could remember on her own, she could only bring herself to smile and accept. Her not remembering was nothing to get bothered over. There was nothing that could be done except to look at the bright side of things. At least she hadn't lose over a day's worth of memories. " Look we’ll give you all the explanations you want but please… Lets get out of here while we still can." Crystal told the stranger.
"Did I do something wrong, Crystal? What happened?" Amber asked. She could tell that her older sister was bothered. "If you say we should get out of here then we should... You can tell us when we're out of here." Amber said.

Shalimar listened without distraction to the two in front of her. Her symbiotic costume was still poised to strike at the slightest threat to the blonde haired feral but at least for the moment these two seemed like they were more friend than foe.The feral calmed herself or tried to but the fight with her father and the mob had left still quite a bit of built up rage, even with the sudden easing of both her and the mob by the girl.
" Look we’ll give you all the explanations you want but please… Lets get out of here while we still can."
Shalimar nodded as the 2 finished speaking, in Shalimars current state of mind she wouldnt mind going another few rounds with the mob of shoppers and mall security but with more danger looming any moment she knew that it was better to take the latter. "Well I dont know about you but I know of one safe place we can go but its going to be a treck and Im sure even taking care of that damn mob for the moment has only posponed the problem. I heard the silent alarm being pushed which means there's more then security on the way.
She looked in the direction of the broken window seing the entrance to the parking lot and could already hear the unmistakable sound of police sirens."We can talk about where to go after we get out of danger lets just get the hell out of here..........."She then turned her attention to the entrance to the parkinglot and started to prepare herself for any resistance as she slowly walked out of the store. She didnt know the two girls powers and considered herself the only baracade against them and the authorities.

Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)"Did I do something wrong, Crystal? What happened?" Her sisters voice was filled with confusion and growing fear, a fear probably fed by Crystals own concern about the situation Still she tried to put a brave face on things as she always did in such situations trusting Crystal to know what to do and do it. "If you say we should get out of here then we should... You can tell us when we're out of here." The older girl smiled at her reassuringly, shaking her head to let Amber know that if there was trouble here than it wasn’t of her making.
No it had been the mutant girl and her father who had started this near riot and Crystal herself who had let Amber become involved in the mess. And for what? To stop potential bloodshed? That had certainly been a factor. Because it was the right thing to do? Try telling that to the guards who lay hurt and bleeding on the sidewalk. Or had it all been for that name. Xavier. A half heard promise of help that she had reached for like a drowning man clutching at straws. Now one way or another their fates were linked to that of the girl with the wild eyes who stood before them trying as they all were to think what to do next. .
"Well I don’t know about you but I know of one safe place we can go but its going to be a trek she announced concisely, raising Crystals unspoken hopes. Please let her be talking about Xavier. Please let her take us somewhere Amber will be understood .It was a silent and heartfelt prayer that didn’t take into account the danger they were still in, all thought of the present situation overwhelmed by the depth of Crystal’s need. Fortunately however the stranger was very much in the here and now, adding and I'm sure even taking care of that damn mob for the moment has only postponed the problem. I heard the silent alarm being pushed which means there's more than security on the way.
Crystal gasped as reality flooded back in, reminding her of the very real risk she had let her sister run in return for a perhaps spurious hope of a better future. Her eyes followed the girls gaze to the parking lot realising what the projected next step logically would be."We can talk about where to go after we get out of danger lets just get the hell out of here........... the cat like mutant said already starting to walk towards the waiting vehicules.
Do you have a car Crystal asked following and urging her sister to do the same. If not we can take mine Its just over there. Vaguely she pointed towards the safe sensible little Ford that she used for getting around. Possibly the most ridiculous get away car anyone had ever seen but at the moment looking a whole lot better an option than just making a run for it. Unless of course the girl could come up with a better idea! Edited by: CrystalFallyn at: 2/27/06 1:34 am
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)Do you have a car.... If not we can take mine Its just over there. Shalimar listened to the older girl and shook her head at the question of did she have transport.
"No I came down here on foot so the car sounds perfect! I think enough unnessasary damage has been done!"She turned her head looking at the car which Crystal had pointed out to be hers and a sigh of momentary relief washed over the Blonde haired feral. Vulpine's symbiotic costume had seemingly flowed back off her forming into the clothes she had been wearing, whether that was by her own will or its was unknown for now.
The three made a b line for the car but the feral was stopped by a security guard who ran out after them obviously unaffected as the rest of the mob. Shalimar turned and without hesitation motioned the other two girls to get in the car."Listen Im really sorry for this but its for the best."With uncanny agility the feral shifted and landed a sidekick right to the guards face. As she turned and ran towards the car she kicked the now unconscious guards gun towards the otherside of the garage.
"We're heading for Xaviers School do you know where it is?"Shalimar asked with worry as she piled into the car last.

Crystal's gasp did not go un-noticed, Amber looking over with concern in her eyes for her sister's state of mind. Stress, it was there, etched in her older sibling's expression. "We can talk about where to go after we get out of danger lets just get the hell out of here..........." She seemed to be listening to something and Amber could hear it now too, approaching sirens..
"Do you have a car? If not we can take mine Its just over there." They were going to be running away from the police... Something they weren't seen as doing in the past. Amber bit her lower lip a little but if this was something her sister thought they needed to do, she trusted it. "No I came down here on foot so the car sounds perfect! I think enough unnessasary damage has been done!" The stranger replied to Crystal. She changed then.... at least a part of her, causing the blonde to look almost like an average person again. That was comforting but Amber's comfort didn't last too long as a hostile looking security guard ran out after them as they reached the car and as the blonde knocked him out with a kick to the head.
Amber cast a look to her sister then as the blonde pulled herself into the car, at her. "We're heading for Xaviers School do you know where it is?" The blonde asked. Amber looked out the window at the guard on the ground. "I should have done something...." She stated, her discomfort about violence showing. She then looked at the new addition to the travel group. "Xavier? Did I hear you right?" She asked before looking to Crystal. "Crystal, isn't that the man we heard about?" She questioned, a little hopefully.
Re: A fun time out (little later in the day)
It looked like they were going to be taking the Ford after all as the stranger told them "No I came down here on foot so the car sounds perfect! I think enough unnecessary damage has been done!" So the school couldn’t be too far away then. That at least was good to know. And the girls veto on further violence was also welcome Even if it was short lived. The security guard came out of nowhere the look of determination on his face showing that he wasn’t going to be easily put off. Which from his point of view was unfortunate. .
"Listen I’m really sorry for this but its for the best." the blonde announced, motioning Crystal and Amber to get into the car before springing into action. It was all over in a second. One minute the guard was menacing them, the next he was lying in a crumpled heap and the girl was running full speed towards the car.
Crystal flung open the door, still a little stunned by what was going on but knowing that they had to leave and leave fast if things weren’t going to get a whole lot worse. Amber too was looking increasingly worried, no doubt wondering why her usually careful sister had dragged them both into this predicament. Then the girl spoke and Amber had her answer. "We're heading for Xaviers School do you know where it is?"
There was still a moment of guilt, as the younger girl looked at the fallen guard and whispered, “I should have done something...” Then she realised what had been said and hope started to flood back into her shaken face. "Xavier? Did I hear you right? Crystal, isn't that the man we heard about?"“ Yes baby it is” Crystal said as she started the car and headed for the exit “ The one who might be able to help us. If we can ever get to him that is. You’ll have to give me directions" she told the stranger “Because I have no idea where I’m going. “Or what Im getting us into!
It was a risk. Without a doubt the biggest one she had ever taken and it wasn’t just her life that was in jeopardy if she had got this wrong. All she had seen from her new companion so far was violence and she wasn’t sure she wanted to take her sister into a school where that was encouraged. But there was no where else to turn. Xavier’s was their last chance even if Amber didn’t realise that. And Crystal was going to seize it with both hands and wring a future out of it for them both. No matter what it took.
