I've just been given a slow cooker -- called a Crock Pot (US.) You put in raw food all together and plug it in -- then you go away while it cooks on low heat for four to eight hours, and presumably what comes out is a lovely dish.
Are any of your wonderful Indian recipies adaptable for this method of cooking? I'd especially be interested in vegetable dishes, as we're trying to go vegetarian.
Hi carla
Most lentils, beans-except kidney beans, many vegetable curries, Soya curries can be made in crock pot. It will be question of looking at your instruction book and trial and error.
Re: A question about slow-cookers
Never having used one I would presume that 4-8 hours cooking time would turn most things to mush? (all veg would be soft and fall apart ? )
Slow cookers
Hello Steve
You are right, I should have said vegetarian dishes, rather than many vagetables in my reply. I will have to sit and think of suitable vegetables for the crok pot. Right now, I am in India and too busy. I have got a couple of new recipes which I might add to the site later, when I get back to UK.
Re: Slow cookers
there have been a lot of problems with the boards..
the current advice from Ez is to create temporary forums which should allow people to post but will probably dissapear if they manage to restore the missing files for all of the boards.
this will mean that any topics posted in the Temporary forums should not be erased when the rest are reset (but this is not definate)
but if the board does get reset from a back up copy it might be from months ago, so many of the more recent posts will not be there..
on old topics / forums there has been a fix done so that once someone posts in there it stops the crashing, but does not help with not being able to shift and edit things about.
it also suggests not posting in old forums / topics incase this affects the stored data and stops the reset working...
Re: Slow cookers
Steve
Have gone the temporary route on another board I run but instead, we're working to get the alternate discussion board up and running elsewhere.
As you know we have been working on this for a while and hesitated only because of the difficulty we were encountering trying to export the data we had here over to the new site.
Now that is likely to be a moot point, we figure we may as well go right now.
Bear with us, we're working on it whenever we get a moment - real life is interfering a little as work is very busy - we should have some news for you in a day or two.
