ARIAs = bland
I guess I'm not the only one to get a feeling of deja-vu from the ARIAs (again); the same names & players being applauded again for doing the same things as before, whilst genuine talents & innovators get mentioned barely if at all (apart from Paul Kelly perhaps). And of course one gets the definite impression that the big companies & their money are controlling almost all of it. All this from an industry that tries to have an image of being dynamic & exciting (sort of). Ah well, people say the situation here is better than elsewhere & not knowing any better myself, I guess I have to take them at their word.
Catch you 'round...

'AIRYARSE
I caught the last half hour of the telecast and it managed to capture the essence of the night with a 'performance' by Kasey Chambers (Marilyn's little sister) who opted to punish with a 1980's cover of a once great Cyndi Lauper tune (It's the Australian Record Industry Association right ? - Good opportunity for some original material eh!)

... and then Kylie got up to accept Single of the Year "Can't Get You Out Of My Bed" or something as inconsequential and she says....get this, "...I'd like to thank the songwriters...."

Case and point all in one handy package.

No wonder Alex Lloyd looked liked he was sitting on an upright C**lton Cold....

Lucky man
i was fortunate enough to forget that the durn thing was on so i missed it completely, but that has got to be the crappest awards night on the calander. from the cruel sea ramming one of their many awards for honeymoon is over (which is not a patch on this is not the way home) into a wall at the after party to not from there declaring 'this is bullshit' it seems pretty clear what some of the 'talent' thinks of the whole thing. but y'know i guess a few little boys and girls got to see their faves get up and 'sing' i don't think killing heidi gets enough exposure.
