Affiliations & Important Teams/Groups and Individuals
Understandably it’s extremely difficult to understand the various groups and affiliations on the board if you are new and most things regarding the group are discussed either in old threads or privately over MSN. Considering many were created without intentions of accepting other characters or it was self evident that characters could apply there, for some time this sheet had been neglected to be created. However, with time comes the understanding that sometimes even the most obvious isn’t very helpful. Other then the X-men and brotherhood, many of the other areas are left for the players imagination to decipher. So without further delay, here is a list of the affiliations, their goals, description and if based on something from a book/tv show/ created from a players mind, then it will be duly noted!

Additionally, any groups that you plan on NPCing, are going to be listed here. If there’s a group of any kind mentioned on the board during play, place a note in Role Play. That way we can keep things all interconnected, noted, and organized!

The Initiative: (Heavily Based on "Buffy – The Vampire Slayer"):
History:
A secret branch of the US government that is located beneath the campus of Mass.Acadamy. Other locations are only rumoured to exist, and currently the base is believed to be abandoned. Using the latest technology, the Initiative's purpose is to "bag and tag" hostile supernatural forces for further study. Their ultimate purpose appears to be the salvation of mankind from the hordes of preternatural evil in this world. Their morality in doing this slipped gradually in the recent decade where soldiers were being enhanced without their knowledge and brainwashed heavily. Many soldiers are now loose on the streets attempting to make a normal life for themselves, normality however is nearly impossible for most to achieve.

Information:
Most have implants, at least one which increases their strength and immune system which is in their heart. Often a second one is located in their brain which is a tracking device as well as a mental shield against mind reads. Additionally it stops the agents from harming one another with a burst of electricity – the chips are activated if a current of electricity enters the body.

Gangsters and Crime Groups:

Tainted Bloods History & Information:
A group of adolescents with both a white parent and a black parent, thus the name – Tainted Blood. Hardened roughies who where all expelled from Mass.Academy due to constant violence and bullying. The disrespect they showed towards their teachers and fellow classmates expanded towards the entire spectrum of all things to do with authority and rules. They care only about themselves, and are randomly violent to whoever disturbs them.

As odd as it sounds, they defend their suburb with deadly means if forced to do so. They do not rob the people or their homes in their own neighbourhood, if any of the other gangs cause problems, Tainted blood has fought back with extreme force. They can be seen hanging outside Salem Center, however they tend to keep to themselves unless someone hassles them. The twisted sense of loyalty also means that if they see an outsider invading their turf and harassing someone who lives there, they will intervene. As far as Tainted Blood is concerned, they are like the Shepard’s of their area, and anyone who messes with their ‘sheep’ is going to be hunted mercilessly like wolves – though they’ve never phrased themselves in such a way, but that’s the general gist.

Viper Club: (from "Angie, no part derived to anything of a similar name from TV or books!"):
History:
Basically the Viper Club is a ‘Talent Agency’. But they have a wide spectrum of talents in their midst, from singers and actresses to potential assassins and agents. Basically the Viper club is a privately owned organization which protects itself and more importantly its members. The man in charge is called Jerold Whitlock, a handsome man reaching his mid to late thirties that takes in girls who have talents yet seemed to be either under appreciated or worse are having their gifts exploited without any personal gain on their parts. As affectionate as he is with his girls, he has never had any romantic relations with them, as far as Jerold is concerned, they are more like his daughters. While training them in any talent they possess, Jerold employs them in popular Cafes known as Nova Café, a front to his enterprise and a major source of pocket money for the girls. Since Jerold created this club, it’s only a decade old, even though it is young it still has a fair few contacts due to having placed a small quantity of capable woman throughout the social and private structures and businesses. Only in the recent two or three years has he gained the essential ties needed to run a discreet and functional organization that is speedily slipping further and further out of the legal boundaries that bind so many small time occupations.

Information:
The Viper Lounge may at first sound as some promising criminal element, however that isn’t entirely the case. They serve their country, employers, or themselves depending on what lifestyle they take up during their professional lives yet they serve Jerold to a greater degree of trust, loyalty and passion. Although at first many of the girls have that ‘school girl’ crush on the handsome man, they gradually lose it and is instead replaced with the father figure he tries to be. Since there are a few ‘bases’ for the club, they generally have different names and the front of some nifty night and day club. The Viper Lounge is located in Salem, Jerold’s base of operations so to speak. The Viper Casino in Las Vegas, Viper Underground in Washington, and simply “Viper” as a chain of popular clubs spread globally on every continent. Aside from the US, most other continents have between one or three, depending on size and population, anyone showing great potential is shipped over to the Viper Lounge in Salem. The Lounge is either called that or “The Viper Club’.

The woman are often not mutants, just human girls with gifts that need to be honed and flashed in the public. Due to the increase in the mutant population since the Viper room was formed a decade ago they do have their handful of mutant girls, the stray mutant who happened across Jerold and were taken under his wing. The girls are often given odd assignments based on their abilities, a form of training taken to the extremes of the real world. Assassins are solely used on terrorists or the like, and never for political gain – consider them more like ‘freedom fighters’, just going to extremes. Some of the girls have little talent aside from stage performances, but Jerold will arrange shows and publicity events for them just as he would arrange target assignments for trainee agents or fighters. Any talent he finds, big or small, he will help the girls to develop them.

Nova Cafe: (from "Angie"):
History:
Formed nine years ago as a source of income for the fledgling empire J.Whitlock was trying to arrange, it has since become a popular and highly attractive Cafe and Club. Specially designed with soundproof walls and floors, there’s a large space located underneath the seemingly pleasant and casual cafe often called “The Nova Underground” for obvious reasons. A dance club fully monitored and drug free, patrons are watched carefully by discreet cameras that are well hidden to give the illusion of privacy. Anyone appearing to become problematic or have had ‘one too many’ are quietly escorted out – or forcibly if need be. It originally was designed for the upper class people of the area, a fancy gathering point until in recent weeks Jerold has finally decided to tone it down for a better suited place that his girls can work at. Although this will greatly reduce his profit margin (as his people desperately point out) he has no hesitations in doing this, his girls are at the age where they need work, and he refuses to have them work dressed up in tight dresses serving the pompous and arrogant who dwell in his club.

Information:
Being a simple cafe means that it’s a safe environment for his girls to work and socialize. Mainly it is designed for the young ladies of the Viper Club, but Jerold is keen to hire other young woman who need a place to work. No matter what he always finds something for them to do if he feels they are having a hard time getting a job. If someone appears to be easily able to get a job anywhere they want then he’d not really try and squeeze her in, preferring to wait for the one who needs the spot more. If a guy requests to work for the cafe they will be hired if they can serve decent drinks for the underground club, be bouncers, monitor security or even as cleaners and cooks. If once of them mistreats one of Jerold’s girls, speaks down to them, sleeps with them and then acts as if nothing happened, or anything that a father has all rights to be angry about, then they can consider themselves fired (And will mysteriously have trouble finding a job for a while afterwards).

Renaissance Hotel: (Adapted from "Angel, the Buffy series Spin off"):
History:

Information:

The Watchers Council: (from "Buffy – The Vampire Slayer"):
History:
For countless centuries the Watchers have protected, trained, and honed the skills of young woman known as ‘Potential Slayers’, with one of these woman being fully fledged Slayer. They gather knowledge and have members of the council in many areas of political interest in order to protect themselves from the world and its laws. As often a demonic person may have integrated themselves into the human life, therefore should it be killed it could cause problems with the law unless handled swiftly and diligently. Being based in Harmony means they have little worries about creating an impressive front to their operations, declared as privately owned research facility and general studies. The Harmony populace is with less human civilians then one would assume when passing through or living there, so all non-humans and most with connections are aware of the Councils true face. As an operation and entity, the council is too powerful an opponent to face, and so is often wisely left alone.

Information:
Only one slayer at a time is said to exist. Though there are loopholes in this which can bring about another Slayer – such as the current one Tasha, being temporarily dead and revived or brought back to live. Another step around this is the Slayer, Jennifer Demore, who had arrived from another dimension. Jennifer Demore was the previous Slayer in this world, when she died, Tasha had taken her place. Watchers are people who strive to learn as much as possible from the supernatural world as possible in their lifetimes. They are usually adapt at fighting and know at least basic hand to hand combat along with weaponry usage. Many are put in charge of one or more young woman who are more often trained in basic self defence yet little experience with demons aside from what they read or hear from their watchers. In some cases Potentials can be highly adapt at weapon usage and knowledge in the supernatural, this of course depends on their own initiative or the strict routine they had endured. Between twenty and twenty-five the potentials are released from the Council, as the chances of them turning into the Slayer are almost non-existent once that age is reached.

The Agency: (from "The Invisible Man TV series"):
History:
U.S. Government-backed espionage organization. Currently hidden in the organizational budget of the Bureau of Fish and Game. Perpetually under-funded, The Agency rarely seems to possess more than a dozen agents at any given time. (Senior Field Agent Robert "Bob" Hobbes has yet to have his health insurance claims, vacation-time requests, and employee parking validation approved even after years of service.) At present, typical missions include black-science R&D, counter-terrorist operations, fugitive retrieval, hostage rescue, and intelligence gathering. In the past, the Agency performed assassinations, but currently renegade top field operative Darien Fawkes adamantly refused to engage in such activities – since then it has been dropped from their list.

Information:
The Agency has had its hands in a few ‘experiments’ in previous years, while some agents can be a normal, or somewhat what normal human, they have had their share of enhanced humans, such as their prized ‘Darien Fawkes’ who is now missing. While they leisurely search for him, they are unaware of his altered age, figuring his almost sixty, they only desire to retrieve the gland. It’s unlikely that a mutant would be hired, unless the mutant needs something the Agency feels only it can provide. The need to have control of some form over those more powerful has often been issues raised by their previous top agent, who left because of it. While shifty and at times somewhat selfish, they always have a friendly demeanour, even if it forced tolerance.

League of the Extraordinary: (Adapted from "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"):
History:
Once an organization known as “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”, through the centuries it has expanded to a more ‘politically correct’ name, to show recognition towards the female bodement. The L.O.T.E (pronounced simply as ‘Lot’ and often referred to as such, especially when being discussed in a not so private area) are run by two top agents who report directly to her majesty. The first known members of the league recorded are:

Information:
Although formally designed and run in England, the League has a machine able to teleport entire vehicles, as well as men and women, to any one of their many smaller bases of operations world wide. This enables the agents to try and live somewhat personal lives however they desire to spend their ‘free time’. When off duty some are known to group together, performing their own acts of justice or crime, but when summoned for another assignment they must drop everything and make their way to the England HQ. Most within the League are humans who have been altered in some way, by accident or on purpose. The League uses means of persuasion and bribes or blackmail in order to recruit and control their agents. They are given any assignment that is deemed important, their basic goal is to protect her Majesty’s honour, and additionally, the world.

Mutants are not hired into the League, only human beings that are considered – Extraordinary. That is genetically, chemically, or by any other means advanced humans; lab experiments gone wrong, chemical altercations…etc… anything that isn’t natural yet caused a fantastic side effect in the human subject. The Fantastic Four, Spiderman, Daredevil, these are human beings with accidentally achieved powers, thus they are perfect examples for the League.

Important Families and Individuals:
Due to some characters coming from influential families, it doesn’t make much sense that the most popular of them are unknown to most of the students (since it isn’t likely that every player reads all the bios, thus they wouldn’t know it was a common and popular name!). So for all the important, influential and well know figures, be it the character you play, the family they are part of, or whatever else of similar nature, they will be placed here for board players to learn about! Tell us a little about their history, how the public sees them, and if you’re character is the main aspect, tell us what he or she does, and how they are involved with the public eye. Also add some ‘insight’ that the rest of the world doesn’t know, just so the player has a better understanding of things.

The Chadstones: (from Angie’s "Max Chadstone" character):
History:
The Chadstone’s are the often idolized business folks that are known to randomly issue large amounts of money to various groups, from fund raisers, educational facilities, shopping malls – the works. They often gain the media’s attention and are more or less considered one of the best families within the public eye. Steven Chadstone is a hard working man who is known to be a relentless enemy and a powerful ally. Bad publicity is nearly non-existent, but this isn’t because the Chadstone’s are the perfect household – far from it – but they do have their hands in far too many areas and can influence things for the better.

Over the past twenty or so years reporters have been known to obsess with trying to find out the ‘dirty secrets’ of the prestige family, most tend to give up if they annoy the Chadstone’s too greatly and are threatened with either being sued or… by other means at the Chadstone’s disposal. They are the new untouchable’s, and this is proving dangerous to anyone who threatens their carefully placed mask of a peaceful, loving and providing family. As far as they are concerned, the family image is what makes their business such a spectacular success. Owning or co-owning factories ranging from the production of house hold goods to miliary guidance systems, cooking spices and other condiments to helping fund the police department with their new equipment. The Chadstone empire is growing larger with every passing year, their son, Max Chadstone, is often requested to appear at social events – he’s extremely popular due to his charming nature and attractive looks.

Max Chadstone is the by-product of an abusive household, manipulated heavily by his father and severely dependant on the family income and support due to the constant control his parents have always had over his life, with or without Max’s knowledge. Due to the way he was raised, he is know one of Xavier’s bullies, and is widely known throughout the school to be a bed hopper, switching female escorts quite often. Recently after joining the school team, the young Chadstone has however quietened down somewhat with his dating routine – though that doesn’t mean he’s eased up on unleashing his pent up anger on his fellow students. Any students that tries to complain to the papers has been subtly silence or the more commonly the papers paid off to ignore the ‘ridiculous’ gossip they spread just to gain their five minutes of fame. Due to a few incidents in the earlier years of Max’s arrival at the Institute, students have mostly learned the only way to get Max in trouble is to tell the teachers and leave it at that – the best course usually to ignore or tolerate him completely since getting into a fight with him has resulted in three students being sued for assault and sent for a night or two to a holding cell while the paper work was drawn up.

The Ferelles: (from Matt’s "Aurora Garnet Ferelle" character):
History:
In many regards, the Ferelles could be called the absolute opposite of the Chadstones - not in all though.
Aurora's family prefers to keep out of the spotlight, regarding publicity at all costs as rather unprofessional. Another main difference is, that Maxwell and Julia Ferelle are both successful without depending on one another - they don't run a family business of some sort but both have their own companies of entirely different branches.

While Aurora's father - founder of Ferelle Enterprises - runs one of, if not the leading company in advanced IT development and production, his wife is a fashion designer popular among the upper 10,000 - facts that make the family name quite an impressive one for everyone with insight into the business world or said branches.

The Ferelles' attitude towards mutants is a rather neutral one, a fact not only due to their daughter - a fire-elemental - but basically their tolerant outlook on things. Unbeknownst to them, they are bearers of the x-gene as well which - in Maxwell's case - is even part of his success' basis.

Their businesses combined, the couple is estimated to rank among the financial top ten worldwide. Money really doesn't matter at all to them, a reason why they tend to donate money every now and then, yet mostly under the condition that nothing of this will get to the media since this would inevitably lead to an increased public interest in their private lives while they rather prefer convincing with their products and keeping not exposing their family life for everyone to spy on.

Katie Brooks: (from Angie’s "Katie Brooks" character):
A highly popular female entertainer, the young sing/actress has a renowned beauty, although not the most phenomenal of singers, Katie preforms well and with a vibrancy and style that rewards her with many fans. From olden day classics to fresh new pop songs and even punk rock, heavy metal and anything else that needs a loud and clear voice, with the additional top not performances and shows that make up for the lack of a gorgeous angelic voice that some of her own idols possess.

Due to Katie’s young age, she is usually in the role of a daughter or teenager struggling for life and independence. Despite her beauty she doesn’t allow people to use it as the main attribute for her roles, and has walked away from a few outrageous requests for her to star in ‘adult’ films. Her agent and guardian in charge of her care, Jerold Whitlock, reads over all her scripts before even showing them to Katie, this prevents her from accidentally reading anything Jerold wants her to have nothing to do with. So as a rule, Katie will never read anything someone just hands her off the street.

She’s very bright and enjoys doing autographs for her fans, she’s often considered an up coming super star and is said to arrange some of the greatest stage shows in recent times, but not just once or twice, thanks to the money and support of J.Whitlock, Katie Brooks is a phenomenal entertainer with a phenomenal stage and area set up. She can be found working at the popular Nova Cafe, where students of the local schools and educational facilities are known to gather recently now that it has been toned down from the once posh bar it used to be. The weekends usually have her singing on the stage for an hour or two, sometimes longer or during the week, depending on her mood and if there is a concert or not that she has to save her voice for.

Why so many teams?
To give a more diverse world for all to play within, it’s nice to have more then just the Brotherhood verse the X-men. Of course there are countless other Marvel groups, but for now since no one else is playing them, there’s little point in putting all the time and effort into naming ALL the groups that exist in the world – in the end it could do more harm then good if we overwhelm new players with such diversity.

If you want to create a new affiliation, group, whatever that ought to be placed here for others to read about, learn about and possibly join if you are interested in having others take part, feel free to leave a message in Role Play. Give the name of your group, a short history of it, and information regarding what they do, what kind of people/things are able to join, and if a certain personality, beliefs are need, or what ever necessities, restrictions, and whatnot.

The Sensations of Humanity:
Emotions are almost unbearable. How do people go about their every day lives with such burdens weighing them down? How do they fight, how do they love? Every action causes an emotional reaction, and while I always knew this, I never realized how strong these reactions would be. Was I really that far gone in the Initiative to be so blind to my own lack of sensations?

Dr Hank McCoy & Teachers:
The school doctor doesn’t really strike me as someone I can buddy up with, then again I feel that way with the entire staff. I know I never really got to know the Professor, but Xavier had this look in his eyes when he spoke with me, it’s like he knew exactly who I was and still let me into his home, into his dream, his private paradise from the outer world. In many cases he usually can see right through people, but I know if he did see through my lies and deception, it wasn’t with his powers, it was only with his intellect and heart.
What is the Doctors views on me however? I think everything is starting to unravel, past secrets slowly coming into light. How will the doctor, no, how will the entire school react to knowing that my only reason to coming here was to spy on the people they cared for and protected?
