Aldrea Satinka Hawk-Techna

Codename: Techna
Affiliation: X-Men
Legal Status: Aldrea is a citizen of the United States with no criminal record whatsoever.
Occupation: Student
Place of Birth: a Navajo Reservation in Arizona
Marital Status: Single
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Birthday: June 20

Height: 5’7”

Nationality: Navajo American

Mother: Miakoda Swiftfoot Hawk (quarter Navajo, human, alive, made-up)
Father: David Niyol Hawk (mutant, alive, made-up)
Other Important Relatives: Nara Chenoa Hawk (Younger Sister, alive, human, made-up), Galilahi Kai Hawk (Grandmother, mutant, deceased, made-up)

Powers: Aldrea is a techno-morph, meaning that she is able to interact with any type of technology and either make it do whatever she wishes or turn it into whatever she wants (if she has the right components).

An example of this would be that she could interact with a T.V. and know how to take it apart and put it back together. She could also change the channel, set parental controls, set it to record, etc. all without the remote. With this knowledge, she could use it to create her own newer and maybe better version of a T.V..

History: Aldrea was born on a Navajo reservation in Arizona. She was the oldest of David’s and Miakoda’s (Mia for short) two daughters. David was a computer expert who was working out of his home while his wife was a waitress at the local diner. Sometimes, Aldrea and her sister, Nara, were too much for their dad. So, they would often spend most of their days at their grandmother’s (if they weren’t at school). Sometimes, they would even spend the night there, if their parents were especially busy.

All in all, the Hawks seemed like a typical family who just happened to live on a Navajo Indian reservation. However, those who knew them closely, knew otherwise. David was an empath who had learned to control his powers only by learning from his mother, Galilahi, at an early age. Galilahi was a telepath and also the reservation’s Wise Woman.

Whenever Aldrea and Nara would go over to their grandmother’s house, Galilahi would teach them a new recipe. Pretty soon, they had learned so many recipes that Galilahi decided to start a recipe book and put down all the recipes that she and her granddaughters had done together so far and all the other ones she knew. She decided to record everything just in case she couldn’t teach them all to her granddaughters.

When Aldrea was around five years old, an anti-mutant movement swept through town and riled up a few local kids by holding a small rally there. When Galilahi heard of this, she tried to stop the rally before bigotry began to take hold of their little community and started a riot. This probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do, however Galilahi was a very stubborn woman. So, she gathered a few people and went to the rally to reason with them. However, this did not go well at all. Enraged that these people would dare to go against them, the anti-mutant supporters attacked them, convinced that they were either mutants themselves or traitors to the human race.

Galilahi fought valiantly, but in the end someone had gotten a hold of a gun and shot her and a few of the people who had banded with her. When Aldrea’s family heard of what had happened, they were devastated. David, feeling that there was nothing else holding him there, packed up his family and moved to Chilton, Alabama to live with family friends who had offered him a job in his computer repair shop and a rent free place in their duplex (just until they recovered from the move).

During the next twelve years, Aldrea and her family had moved out of their friends’ duplex and into a nice little garden home. David was thriving in his friend’s computer repair business and had even managed to get them more clients. Mia had started her own catering business, using Galilahi’s old recipes. She usually got Aldrea to help, along with Nara. It was during this time that Aldrea learned to hone her cooking skills and found her passion in the culinary arts. It was also during this time that she found out about her technomorphic powers.

Aldrea was at a slumber party one night with her best friends, Sharon and Jennifer. There were about five other girls there, all of which were in their eighth grade class. The girl who was holding the party, Amanda, was a good friend of their’s. Around ten o’clock that night, Amanda’s dad had come home drunk. The girls were being girls and were a bit loud. So, the father came up and started yelling at them and even went to try and switch Amanda with a wooden switch (which had not been used on her since she was 9). This scared Aldrea, who had not seen anyone drunk until then (her parents having not liked drinking alcohol), much less an angry parent. It was then that Aldrea’s powers kicked in. She started to yell at the father to leave Amanda alone while Amanda ran to get her mother. The man advanced on her and right as his ear was beside the speakers to Amanda’s CD player, the CD player turned on, blaring a song on the radio. Amanda’s dad immediately crumbled to the ground in pain, the music actually having busted his eardrums. It was then that Amanda returned with her mother and helped her to drag her father to the car to get his ears looked at in the emergency room.

No one realized that Aldrea had been the one to trigger the CD player being suddenly turned on. They just figured that some one had sat on the remote. Only Aldrea knew the truth; and it scared her. She didn’t want to turn out like her grandmother. She knew that there was a strong possibility that someone could figure out just what had happened that night. So, she kept her mouth shut and pretended that it had never happened.

Weeks passed and Amanda seemed to be a bit embarrassed about the incident, but not overly sensitive. She had already apologized to Aldrea about her father’s behavior and even thanked her. Her father was seeking help for his previously ignored alcoholic problem and was doing well now.

Yep, Aldrea thought she was pretty much in the clear until her own father, David, confronted her about the incident. She had been a bit awkward with her family for a bit, fearing that they might view her as a monster for having these powers. However, what she didn’t know was that her father was a mutant as well and he had been sensing those familiar feelings that he had felt when he had first found out. So, being the concerned father, David decided that it was time to tell Aldrea his big secret and answer any questions she might have.

When Aldrea found out that her Dad was an empath, she felt a bit mad at him for keeping that from her for so long, but when she found out that her grandmother had been a mutant she was furious. Why had she not been told? Why didn’t she use her powers on the anti-mutant group that had killed her instead of choosing not to? Galilahi could have lived! Her father could have helped her! She felt so betrayed. Yet, at the same time, she knew that there was nothing that her grandmother or her father could have done to stop that anti-mutant group, with or without powers. Someone might have felt them use their powers and possibly massacred the town after getting so worked up. No, she was just glad that her Dad was there now and had come clean with her.

Now, that she had had this little talk with her father and gotten all her questions answered, Aldrea started concentrating on trying to control her powers. She started with computers, finding that after interfacing with them, she could figure out how to take them apart and put them together again. Pretty soon, she was working on mp3 players and video game systems.

When she was fifteen, she began to make her own things. A mini computer that used a holographic interface was the first patented invention that she made on her own at sixteen years of age. The military wanted the blueprints, as did S.H.I.E.L.D. However, she wasn’t ready to sale it just yet. That is, until she was approached by a buyer from Xavier’s.

It was on the eve of her 17th birthday. She had told Sharon and Jennifer long ago about her powers. At first, they didn’t believe her, but then after she showed them what she could do, they finally believed it. Sharon was shocked that she could do all of that, however, Aldrea was like a sister to her and this would not change her view of her best friend. Jennifer, however, didn’t take it so well. It took her a few weeks to even get back on speaking terms with Aldrea. She finally begrudgingly renewed their friendship after Aldrea managed to stick up for her when someone started to harass her. Jennifer realized that Aldrea was still the same person she had known since she was five.

Anyways, back on track! Aldrea was in her workshop, out in a barn-like storage shed in their backyard, with Sharon and Jennifer, working on her latest invention. She was interfacing with her computer without even going through the voice commands or using the holographic keyboard that had been set up to run commands on the computer. It was then that Xavier’s buyer decided to show up. When David found out that the buyer was sent from the Professor Xavier that was the premier expert on all things mutant, he decided to let her in and even to show her to Aldrea’s workshop. When Aldrea heard her father come in, she wasn’t worried; until she realized he had someone with him. However, that’s when Xavier’s buyer revealed that she was not only interested in Aldrea’s wrist computer, but also in Aldrea’s abilities. This surprised her, especially since she had been careful to keep it such a secret. However, she should have known that sixteen years of age was way too young to start coming up with advanced technology. So it came to be that Aldrea was sent to Xavier’s to learn more about what her powers had to offer.

Personality:

Aldrea is a sweet person with a fierce sense of family and loyalty. She can be naïve at times, however she is very smart. She is not a good liar. She will always try to tell the truth if she can. She is a good listener and an awesome friend. She tries to always do the right thing. Her grandmother taught her to respect others and their feelings. You may not always like the way someone’s turned out, but you can still love and respect them in the end. She has a strong sense of who she is, no mater how many things she goes through. She is easygoing and laidback enough to go with the flow, no matter how stressed she is. Everything happens for a reason; you just don’t always have to know the reason.

Likes: Cooking, chocolate, reading, sci-fi, fantasy, movies, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, faery lore, myths, gardening, archer, fencing, swimming, horseback riding, walks in the woods and on the beach, fairy tales, video games, singing, playing guitar, playing flute classical music, country music, rock-n-roll, alternative rock, some pop music, pop rock, etc.

Dislikes:
Bullies, the taste of most alcoholic drinks, most horror movies, most of Hollywood’s portrayals of the southern accent, ageism, anti-mutant people, prejudices in general, stealing, turnip greens, off-key singing, rap, Marilyn Manson, too much cussing in music, really old country music, alcoholics

Gadgets:
She has a wrist computer whose keyboard is holographic and can be viewed through some special sunglasses or optionally from the hologram itself. The wrist computer can also be worked by voice commands. She can, however, interface with it without using any voice commands or the holographic “keyboard”.

Sample Post:
All night, Aldrea had been worried about starting her new school. I mean, it wasn’t like she had the coolest power ever. Heck, all she could do was interact with appliances and then use the information that she got from it to take them apart and put them back together. She was going to be going to school with people who probably could fly or throw people into the air with their mind. How could she compete with that?

‘No, this isn’t a competition,’ she thought to herself as she put some pearly light pink lip gloss over her lovely lips, 'I mean, its not like they’re all gonna judge me on my power, right?'

Aldrea and her parents had been googling Xavier’s ever since she had gotten invited. Her dad was especially excited since his daughter was actually having the opportunity to go to the school he had always wanted to go to. It sounded like a dream come true, right? The Navajo cutie just wished she didn’t have to leave her friends behind to go there. Sharon had been devastated when Aldrea told her she was going there. Jennifer was sad, but she wasn’t as close to Aldrea as Sharon was.

The girls decided to make a pact to send e-mails to each other once a day to let each other know what was going on. Aldrea had even been able to make a two-way walkie-talkie that could reach each other anywhere they were in the world. It was like a picture cell phone with video capability. Sure, they both had cell phones with nationwide capabilities, but this would save their parents money on their cell phone bills. Besides, Aldrea had made them in their favorite colors (purple with silver starts and moons for Aldrea and red with golden suns for Sharon).

Right now, she was in a cab from the airport. The ebony-haired beauty had been to New York City before with the school band for a concert competition. However, she didn’t realize just how busy the airport could be (the band having ridden on nice little buses). It had been a bit chaotic trying to figure out where everything was. She’d had a heck of a time trying to find her luggage. At least figuring out how to get a cab was easy enough. They were all lined up on the curb.

“Its not long now, girlie,”
said the cab driver as they rounded a corner. They had been on the road for about twenty minutes and she really hoped that the ‘not long now’ would be within the next five minutes.

Five minutes flew by as the scenery changed from Salem Center to country and then the drive to a huge mansion. Just then, the cab came to a stop in front of the gorgeous mansion. It was so much bigger than the image she’d seen. And she was going to go to school here? Wicked!

Ten minutes more and she was at the door with all her luggage. Aldrea took a deep breath and did a little appearance check. She smoothed out the front of her light blue spaghetti strap tank and straightened her ivory quarter-sleeved sweater. She then slipped one hand into the back pocket of her faded jeans and rang the doorbell. She just hoped that someone would answer it soon and not leave her out there waiting too long.

wow, nice, I made a mutant who could interact with technology but I haven't really taken to her and posted with her yet, lol. And she's much older... and I like yours more *bags her own mutant* lol

Sounds like an interesting mutant! I wonder what she'd think of Green Rescue Squad with it's two fairies, in any case, I personally couldn't see any flaws I'd like to pick up on..... sooo... you're safe here, for now XD

-stamps-

On with the next stampers!! *cheers and dances*

Hmmm... with all those charas, maybe I should renew your side pic, we could use a similar fashion with the one I've got on Riley so that'd give a pic for each character! And I'll see about a new siggy if ya want?.. Anyway, that's all for me! *runs off to try and cook for her brothers*

That'd be awesome! I'm using Tamara Feldman for Techna. Man, I feel bad since I haven't been able to use the sidepics from the last time you made them for me. ^_^

Oh! A new siggy? Feels like Christmas already! First, I 'll have to get through my birthday on Dec. 12th. ^_^!

I was gonna have her have a secondary power, but I did some research on it and it didn't pan out. -_-0 Oh well! Thanks for replying to soon!

I've seen basically all of those, they aren't easy to create a siggy for, aside for the face shots here and there, I'll do my best in the next few days and see if there's anything you like. If all else fails you can just has her in the side pic.. after all, any more then two siggies for a person could cause page loading issues for anyone with crummy connections! *makes lazy excuses* XD

Might be good to combine the three characters for one siggy. Does that make sense? Bleh, you're right about the side pic thing. I dislike too many siggies on a post. Anyways, thanks for your help! Hmm..Only one more stamp left...Where the heck is Matt when ya need him?
