Angela Clarice - Nightmare

And just because he wasn't there when I woke up, didn't mean I was going to fall back asleep.. he could have been hiding! ..*Stared at the spot for over an hour while her eyes kept drifting shut*
It didn't help that that little spider was coming down from the ceiling, which is why I eventually got up..*Whimpers more at the fact she had to capture it and run down to the kitchen and wash it down the drain*

Powers: Empathy;
Angela can sense the emotional state of others, this is mainly before her powers are absorbing their emotions in order to feed of their fears and soon their pain and then their desires and rage and such. But as a result, she can tell how they feel if she is near them, she doesn't have to touch them for this, but she does have to consciously make an effort to pick up their emotions.
Nightmares;
Angela can't just give people nightmares, her powers doesn't work like that, she can only work with what is already there, and although she's able to effect people during their sleep it's only if they are nearby. Angela's mind has created a small shadow illusion of a ghostly creature she calls 'Fear'. It's basically the only way she deals with her pain, shoving all her hurt into that tiny gaseous like creation of hers that her mind controls so instinctively now it's easy for others to think it's alive.
The pain she has in there is very real, if 'Fear' enters the body of someone they'd have a rush of frightful emotions running through them, though they won't understand why since only the feelings are stored there, and not her memories. 'Fear' is Angela's security blanket, and sometimes she often acts as if it is a living creature, if someone makes fun of her little shadowy puppet or teases it in some way, she tends to try and comfort 'Fear' by cradling it in her hands or such other affectionate acts.
'Fear' is able to take the form of anyone's greatest fear, which is why Angela had named her imaginary pet 'Fear', she calls it a he and if anyone irritates her or her friends she is able to absorb their fears and make a perfect replica of the person or thing that they are most afraid of.. like spiders if someone is terrified of them...*Clears throat*
If she doesn't want to make a 'thing' or person appear, she can just manipulate their minds, make them think they are somewhere where they aren't, like on the edge of a cliff if they are afraid of heights, or in a tiny room if they don't like small spaces.
Although her power can be aggressive and used to attack people, it's a better defense, her power comes in lovely when she wants to confuse people, even if they know it's not real, it will still give her team mates a chance to get the advantage in the situation. She can only effect one person if she turns 'Fear' into something they are scared off, but she can effect one person with her mind powers, and then anyone within a few meters of that person. So if she is getting attacked by to people standing side by side, she can use her powers on both of them, but if they on opposite sides of the area, she can only use her powers on of them.
Over time her powers will grow, and she will be able to create more then just 'Fear', she will learn to develop three more ghostly friends that she will give new names to, some more creative then others. This will only occur over time, and it will take a while for her to learn to control them, they will not come all at once, and will not give her any new powers. The advantage of having her 'ghostly friends' means she can create that many more solid illusions.. but they will be based on whatever essence that ghost is. Desire might be a boyfriend or girlfriend, Rage might be someone who is already angry with that person, or that person themselves if they have a foul temper they aren't proud of.. etc.
Fear – The Fear
Perhaps at first Fear’s form was more simplistic, Angie’s obsession with dragons is great and it isn’t surprising she tends to have a few reptilian manifestations, but Fear’s double form is solely to allow Angie a chance of not pouring too much energy and thought into keeping him solid. Now days Fear is more often seen as her red eyed purple dragon, though his small sphere form isn’t completely gone either, just much rarer now she’s getting stronger.
Obi - the Obsessive.
The small winged pony is a manifestation of her connection with Ruby, not only does Angie tend to obsess over her youngest sister, her young sister herself does tend to get obsessive with all the little things she considers ‘important’. This connection has driven the image of Ruby’s favorite animal, the horse, to become the manifestation of her obsessive side.
Chipie - The Mischief
This little critter is full of trouble, he likes causing mischief, especially if someone does something to displease Angie. Which isn’t surprising, everyone has that dark wishful thought after something is done against them, unfortunately for Angie Mischief is there to see it through as best he can.
Indy - The Indifferent
Everyone has moments of indifference, this isn’t always a bad thing, though this little faun like creature, known as Indy, doesn’t become passionate about things and never really seems to fuss about anything and never takes sides with the others if there is a fight or debate. Indy isn’t one for extreme and she mean to look so indifferent all the time it’s just how she is, she does care about the others and she does care for Angie, she wouldn’t ignore negative moods focused towards Angie but she’d only react if she felt it was important and there was little other choice.
Grouch (or Grouchy!)- the Grouch
This little thing is probably some form of gremlin concocted within Angie’s mind. Grouch tends to get grumpy over the slightest thing, though he like all of Angie’s manifestations that aren’t confined to the single emotion, they are merely more prone to it, there fore Grouch has his playful times occasionally. Grouch doesn’t like it when people ignore him and he doesn’t like it when they go out of their way to be nice to Angie. He’s over protective a lot like Fear but gets very grouchy about getting his way!
Mali - the Malicious
This trickster often takes things too far, don’t be surprised if he ends up hurting someone with one of his pranks, everyone has a dark side and this prankster really loves taking things too far. This one isn’t the friendliest of faces and more often Angie finds herself overly cautious when he shows up, and tries her best to make sure she solves whatever issue may have caused him to appear. Or if he’s just hovering around, to make sure she stays out of trouble. Angie never really had a teddy bear before so she can’t really imagine where the evil bear came from, then again, she finds herself questioning quite a few of her new found friends.
Demi - The Tease
A devil chameleon? It’s not exactly the weirdest thing Angie’s thought up. Another playful manifestation, despite the devil horns and pitch fork, Demi really isn’t harmful, he loves goofing around and loves bringing laughs, even if other people won’t always find it funny. Angie enjoys Demi’s company, because he gets along with everyone, the good, the bad and all between, he’s an all round character that seems to fit with everything, and always choosing his targets carefully so he doesn’t lose a possible friend to play with in the future.
Hope – The Hope
Hope is a gentle creature by far, she always tries to inspire others to believe even if it seems like a hopeless cause. She wants to try and push them, to help them think there’s more to whatever troubles them, there’s a way beyond it all and on the other side there really is a brighter light and greener grass. This colorful Gryphon has a nurturing side to her that really does help Angie cope, the lion is mighty and the eagle is powerful, combined with the soft touch of Angie’s most adored combination of colors, Hope is certainly a stunning creature of inspiration.
The Depression
This small white little dragon often appears to be the most troubled soul you could ever see, the way his eyes gaze up you, the pain and loss within them, every ounce of sadness Angie has ever felt dwells within this creature and usually he seeks comfort, from Angie or others, though more often he’ll just curl up and want nothing more to do with them… save for a comforting stroke of sympathetic fingers.
Connie - The Confusion
Connie is a sweet little critter but he tends to be split in half on everything, he’s never 100% sure on anything he does and always feels confused if he should or shouldn’t do something. Survival instinct obviously kicks in if Angie is in danger but still, hesitation is still a key feature in Connie’s personality and it gives a rather timid appearance to him.
Curi – The Curiosity
Curi is a giggling happy little fellow that enjoys running around and exploring as much as possible, he enjoys company and adores other people, if someone’s playing a game he’ll want to be part of it. He’ll try and make friends as swiftly and happily as possible, often Angie finds herself envious of the ease in which he approaches strangers. It’s no surprise that Curi is more often seen with Envy nearby.
Envy – The Envy
A dark yet beautiful creature, Envy tends to stay close to Angie and doesn’t enjoy walking off on her own. She appears elegant at times but doesn’t take well to others who try and act better then her or Angie, and feels inclined to scorn or glare at those who upstage them in any extent.
History:
The very first thing Angela remembers is standing outside her home, which was a nice large house that was on an old farmland that wasn't used for farming any more, and her mother was screaming. Angie's two brothers had ruined her only ball, it was really the only toy she had, at least that she remembers, it was definitely the only one she could play with by herself while her older brothers where off causing trouble somewhere.
The thing was, they hadn't meant to break her ball, they had finally let her play with them and they where kicking it and it went into the thorn bushes. Sure Angela was really upset (She was 4 at the time she that involved tears) but she didn't think they deserved to get punished for it. And their mothers idea of punishment was lashing them with her belts, there was always 'Pull your pants down!' And then a few days when they'd find sitting down too painful to attempt, Angela had sat on the stairs miserable at the fact her tears had hurt them so much. They hadn't gotten mad at her either, which made her feel worse, it's probably why she remembers it so well, after that she had promised she wouldn't get anyone in trouble again by crying.
It was very hard for a toddler not to cry though, they where still learning how to express themselves and as a baby the only way to get attention was to cry. Angie didn't remember much of her father in those earlier years, she wasn't even sure if he was part of her life back then. But she remembered her brothers got a call from their father, she didn't really understand back then why they had a father and she didn't, since her mother had said he wasn't hers. But like all curious kids, Angie was persistent in asking questions, and they where in the car, the farmland was huge so it meant the long dusty roads where a bore for one so little whom always needed something to keep herself busy. So she started asking questions, her brothers where in the back play fighting and Katerina had already lost her temper a few times with their reckless behavior.
When Katerina snapped at Angela, the young toddler went quiet, but it was easy to hear the sobbing she was trying to keep quiet, which only made her mother more upset in her angry state. While she was screaming and waving her hand about threateningly, she almost collided into the on coming car that she hadn't noticed turn onto the road just ahead of them. In an attempt to save them from crashing, Katerina swerved off the road and drove over a collection of bushes while she had slammed onto the brakes, the car only lightly getting damaged on the front when it was stopped by the trunk of a dry old tree. The leafless bushes and rocks dented and scratched the undersurface of the car and they car was trapped there off road, resulting in the family walking for an hour to get home.
The event, among others that happened over the next few years, caused her mother to sell their home and move into New York City, it wasn't at all fun for the kids.. well over time the boys started enjoying themselves but it was a bore for Angela. The only good thing about it was that her father hired her mother after he discovered she was looking for work, although Katerina was saying how horrible a man he was, how he stole money from people (He didn't steal, he was convinced he had good investments in different things and normally they would work out for a while but a run of bad luck always left him in the cold and with a lot of unhappy people), how he wasn't to be trusted.. blah blah blah.. Angela hardly cared if he was the devil himself, she was his daughter and she wanted to meet the guy, she was 7 and she hasn't seen him once!!
It turned out to be the best meeting of her life, she was spoiled rotten by him from the very minute they met, she would always try and spend as much time with him as possible and cherished every moment. It wasn't until she was 14, when she got in serious trouble for having yelled back at her mother after her mother had said a really hurtful comment about Angela's appearance (She's always been really sensitive to her appearance since her mother would comment on all her flaws in the most hurtful of ways possible). But Angela wasn't ever like her brothers, she couldn't stand getting hurt, she'd just get louder and angrier if her mother threatened to hurt her. It wasn't rare for her mother to say 'You're crazy' with this awful look in her eyes and face that just irritated Angela so terribly much, and her words would come out in this mean nasty little harsh whisper.
Angela wasn't crazy, she just didn't tolerate getting abused, and she wasn't going to let that temperamental psycho hurt her because she doesn't know how to handle her own children. Both of Angie's brothers had moved out of home when she was 6 and they moved up to Greece with their father, who was said to be abusive towards their mother, but that didn't give her any right to continue the tradition with her kids. Sometimes Angela and her mum got on really well, they'd be all happy and cherry, but the bad times seemed to outweigh the good and Angela seemed to just keep getting more and more of her aggression. Sure Angela got really angry while her mother was being threatening, but it wasn't just because she was angry at the thought she was going to get hurt, it was because she was terrified of it! She didn't want to be hurt, she didn't want black eyes and painful limps, it was her fear of being harmed that was causing her to get so angry, the louder and scarier Angela got the less chances it was for her mother to try and get near enough to hurt her.. Insanity had nothing to do with her violent reactions towards her mothers abuse, it was simply the desire not to be abused at all that was causing her to act like that, if her mother is afraid of her, then she would keep her distance and just scream instead of approaching... it would probably have a terrible effect on her later relationships since this reaction has been almost drilled into her now.
When she was so scared of that her mother was going to start hitting her, she had backed against the wall and shielded her face, her body dropped down in fear, instinctively wanting to just curl up in hopes of minimizing the damaged areas, protecting her face and stomach from any painful attacks. But there was a scream, someone was standing between Angie and her mother now, Angela had been so grateful she didn't care if her mothers was still in the room, she stood up and instantly clung to the woman that stood between them. She had felt so real, and it had happened so suddenly, it was her mother's adopted mum, the woman was also abusive towards Katerina, probably where she got the violent tendencies from, there was no way her mother was going against her adopted mother who was a life hazard to live with since she was insane and sometimes would be convinced whoever was around her was trying to kill her.
Both of them started arguing, and somehow Angela knew exactly who this person was, it's like the knowledge just flowed into her.. This person scared her mother greatly, as long as this person was around, her mother wouldn't hurt her, Angela had clung a little more to the screaming old lady. It was obvious of course to Katerina however that something was wrong, her mother was up in Greece, too sick to travel and wouldn't consider even spending the money on tickets. It wasn't long before Katerina was calling her daughter a freak and throwing her out of the house, the fact Angela had a small 'ghost' hovering about her later that day only scared her mother more.
Once leaving the home, she called herself a runaway and wondered the dangerous New York streets for a couple of nights, she was cold and hungry and didn't have the will run away when she was picked up by patrolling officers. It hadn't occurred to her that her dad might not think of her as the monster her mother thought of her, and to see him rushing into the police station shortly after she arrived was amazing. He had been terrified, searching everywhere for her and worried she had done something stupid to hurt herself after her mother had kicked her out or someone else had hurt her.
The next two years where actually the best years of her life, they went everywhere, he took her to Japan, Singapore, Wales (His parents lived in Wales), Australia, everywhere! They finally got a chance to do all the father/daughter things they had missed out on doing together while she was younger, it was so great.. until when they got a call demanding William bring her back to New York for them to both attend a custody hearing. Angela wasn't sure why her mother wanted her back after everything that had happened, she did, Angela was her only daughter, and it had taken some time but she did realize now that with her sons gone Angela was the only company she had, she didn't want to be alone.
It started when she was 16, the fight continued on and on, over and over, both parents had flaws and the fact William hadn't sent Angela to school after she moved in with him didn't reflect too good on his fathering abilities either. But he had just wanted to take her places, he had tried to get tutors but they where always moving about, he couldn't find one that would travel around with them. It was so painful, every day, the same old fights, and Angela had to attend school those two years and since she had 'Fear' following her everywhere no one would talk with her. One of the school bullies tried to pick on her when she had placed out a cup cake and it had 17 written on it, her dad and her made a bunch of them for her birthday. He hadn't been feeling well, his skin was always pale and he looked dreadful, but he always insisted he was fine.
The bully had taken her cake, Fear had been hovering over by the flowers Angela had been admiring before, wondering if after school her father would like to have some fresh flowers picked for him. The older boy had begun making cruel remarks about her being a mutant freak and not belonging anywhere, Angela had been more annoyed then hurt.. she had gotten used to such pathetic and hurtful comments. But there was this strange thought that occurred to her, this bully had an extreme fear of Spiders, Angela herself wasn't too keen on them but if it was Fear who was the spider she knew he wouldn't hurt her. She wanted Fear to do the trick he had done back when he first rescued her, she wanted him to scare them away.
They hadn't noticed Fear hover back towards where Angela was sitting, all they saw was a long pale brown hair leg suddenly appear on her shoulder, another leg seen on her other shoulder and one rested now up on her head as it pulled his fanged mouth and many black beady eyes up over her shoulder and stared towards the boys (ooc: *screams screams screeeeeeeems*...*Takes deep breaths as she glances about for any signs of Earl*..). She was starting to figure out how to handle her abilities, and over the next year she discovered different ways of using them, if Fear went into someone's body, they'd always get so pale and tremble in fear, no one bullied her anymore!
It wasn't until a few weeks before her 18th birthday that her father collapsed at his work, he suffered a stroke from all the stress, mostly from the many people wanting their wasted money back from him that they say he lost stupidly, even though quite often he had given them a great deal of money BEFORE the shares or whatever crashed, so they would have mostly been given back what they had given him. Everything was all too stressful for him, when he got sick everything just felt apart for her again, and although she tried to visit him often, it was too painful for her to watch him lay there, the loss of half his body movement, his ability to speak properly was gone and he couldn't form sentences. When Angela attempted to move back in with her mother, things didn't work out and she took what money her father had given her in her account, and went off to start living on her own, which she has managed pretty well for herself and Fear in the past year..
Personality:
She's rather unpredictable, jumping from happy to sad to sever depression and then hyper silliness in a single hour, it all depends on the people around her. She likes to do things but with other people, sometimes she's too shy and others time's she braves everything and just asks them to do something with her.
Likes:
She loves her laptop! Most of her spare time is attached to the computer, normally in her room or if other people are out chatting and she wants company she'll take her laptop to a quiet place in that room with them where she can at least hear their voices.
She likes her take out food and loves wearing all sorts of nice jeans, she loves her father and even though she hasn't read his entire book, just skimmed over a few chapters here and there since he got sick, she keeps it hidden safely in her room where no others can see it.
Angela adores 'Fear', anyone makes fun of her little Nightmare ghost, she isn't afraid to send him onto them, serves them right for trying to her his feelings!
Dislikes:
People being mean to her Ghostly friend, mutant haters, human haters, people who hate others because they are different, death, people who try and push her or her friends around. Her mother.

The thing is I spell check my bios in Word and it doesn't understand the typo as being one since it is a correct spelling of were.. Though I do know the actual differences in meaning between the two similar sounding words... I doooooo..
Edit: *Runs back in* I got distracted from the comment about my spelling and didn't notice the remark about you having nothing to criticize... that sounded bizarre.. I would like to add so everyone knows, he hinted towards not liking how I did my pics

HA! I found something... too late, but anyway.
there was something that occured to me last night when I actually planned on sleeping but ended up thinking about me potential me-ish character *grumbles*
in the beginning, you mentioned something about Nightmare feeding on those emotions.... but later on, you don't refer to it again. in fact the whole way to constructed the character contradicts that one passage *points at empathy*
you might wanna clarify that..... and RIGHT!!! I SO was nagging about those pics with the weird rectangular thingies!!

..well gee, it can't be too original, it's just a dramatic twist in my life, of course, my parents weren't in any legal court matters involving having my custody though!

Angela *Points to her self* Can 'feel' the emotions of those around her, if they 'fear' something, she can feed of this by creating a realistic illusion of what they fear. That's all I mean. Where as if she feels happiness, she can't do anything with that emotion.
