Except this time it's a merger between two boards which have low post counts rather than us using an unused CSC board.
The board we will be using is an iKonboard; this means that we will have polls, different skins and better options. It'll also be a lot less buggy.
We will merge some of our forums, such as "The Mess Hall" and "General Chat", and our QSF and Announcements forums will be merged.
Some forums will be lost in the move due to redundancy, such as the Paperwork and Sign In forums.
Others will be joined; specifically the Languages and Cultures forums will be merged, as will TV, Music and Radio. Websites and Gaming will merge with Fun and Games.
The Mess Hall BBS does require reregistering, however we are more than happy to pre-register anyone who has posted in the main forums here; we'll create that list this weekend and hopefully have everyone registered by next week. Your password will be e-mailed to you individually using our own control panel.
If you find you have not been registered then please e-mail messhall@eircom.net and we will set your password up for you.
The Wolf and Firkin BBS is very pleased to be merging with MessHall; We'll be using their policy, but moderators from this board will remain moderators as far as I know.
We'll merge once the reinstall is completed.
Several changes will be made to our own forums.
QSF and Announcements would be redundant so we'll use their board's QSF/Announcements forums.
Paperwork was basically Policy and FAQ; as we'll be using the other board's policy, we don't need that forum.
The new member/sign in forum will be dropped, there's no real need for it.
Mess Hall BBS's Mess Hall forum and our General Chat will merge.
We'll combine Languages and Culture to make one big forum.
We'll also combine TV/Radio/Music to make an Entertainments forum.
The mod/admin lounges will become hidden and accessible only to our mods; we'll be using their mod forums, Mess Hall BBS will be unaffected.
The two Tech forums (WaF and MessHall) will merge.
No Man's Land will merge with the Sensitive Issues forum there.
Fun and Games will merge with Websites and Gaming.
Members of WaF will be registered here by the end of next week.

the new site isn't working very well. One of the admins said that the ikonboard they are using is working badly. It took 5 minutes for the page to load. Jim I am not going to be able to follow you over there unless the boards over there are improved.

Take a look at the e-mail I sent to everyone. New forums will go up there soon, we're just going as carefully as possible right now as they've had to move to a new board as well; that means we've got 2 boards-worth of members to move, and a lot of hard work in the next few days.
