Another day in Captivity
The sleeping gas had lasted a good two hours, the captives where easily transported without any troubles, for the start of their stay, since they had more 'guests' then they expected, the group was all stored within the the single cell. They had all been half dumped into the cell, Riley's unconcious mind knew Catherine was beside him by her comfortingly familiar scent. Often it was just his spare pillow, or a ghostly illusion of his dreaming mind, but right now it was real, his arm draped across her stomach as she laid on her back. The tips of his fingers had curled slightly on her arm as he held her, he was laying mostly on his side, the arm that wasn't slung across her was pressed mostly against the ground, only he had woken a little to be aware of her presence, his hand shifting to take hold of her hand by lacing his fingers with hers.
His whole body shifted a little close to hers, one of his legs already where woken between her own, the drugs numbing his senses too much to realize there was something wrong. The added fact he was completely unaware of any time having passed between the night he had fallen asleep holding her hand to this moment. Their feet where close to the barrier, the bright lights and white walls surrounding them so bare and barren. There where only a few people in the holding cells, all the demons where out cold from drugs since it had recently been feeding time. Everything was so quiet, they where in the cell that the station desk was right in front of, so Joan was sitting down at the desk Marc had once sat at. Four others hovered beside her, all seemed content in staring at their new captives, though Joan had an awful glare at the cuddling couple.
"Prepare the other cells, I want Riley on his own within an hour." The fact Riley had a more potent amount of drug in his system meant the others should begin to rise on their own while he would need to be nudged awake otherwise he could continue sleeping for another hour. "Call the Re-Programers, tell them he's been recaptured and they may proceed with their experiments and testing, he's to be ready by tomorrow morning, we'll ship him out with the rest of them." Max's eyes had opened, the words heard but he didn't fully register their meaning, especially since he had no idea what was going on. The stone mutant however kept still, maybe if he didn't move he wouldn't be hurt again, his shoulder felt stiff from the bruise that had darkened across his skin, his bruised cheek was also against the cold hard floor and that wasn't at all comfortable.
"Increase the shielding of the barrier, charge the cell with an electronic pulse if they don't wake up soon," There was a curious 'why' from one of the soldiers, but Joan just grinned and shrugged a little "A little pain won't kill them." It would however harm the new life forming inside of Catherine, not that Joan was yet aware of its existance, had she been, most likely Catherine would have been dragged down to one of the lowr levels. If there was any chance of the baby being a prodigy as its father then they would be sure to exploit it thoroughly. Belthazor collected prodigies at a young age, harvesting their intelligence and manipulating them to do his work. It's how his lawfirm where able to win so many cases so easily, when a group of prodigies who know all aspects of law get their hands on the case reports they are able to use their vast knowledge to either prove ones innocence or guilt, even if the person was innocent and they where charging them with a crime, the prodigies most often could twist the law into their favor. But that was all just practice for their true work with him, Cole often used their minds as weapons against his foes, even if the prodigies themselves did not know the truth of their works uses.
Cat was oblivious to everything going on around her, having absolutley no idea of what had happened or where she was. She'd have been more than terrified if she knew the truth of where she'd been brought to. There was a little groan upon her lips as she slowly surfaced from the effects of the gas that she'd inhaled down in the caves. She could feel Riley's arms comfortingly around her, inching her body a little closer towards his, streatching her muscles a little as she did so. She expected to feel her body sink into their matress but she had the sudden feel of hardness where there should have been softness.
It took her a moment to figure out where she was, she still hadn't opened her eyes to find out the truth. As far as she was concerned she was still where ever Riley had taken her, there was a blank spot in her memory though... she couldn't remember falling asleep.
Her eyes opened, looking rather sleepily into Riley's face, a little smile on her face as she watched him sleeping, it broadened when she realised she could see. Hurriedly she sat up, knocking his arm off her in her excitment, she wanted to jump around and yell in a really childish manner, she wanted to hug Riley and run over to look out of the window, to see grass again and the sky. Her happiness seemed to jerk out of her in one swift movement as she realised with a flush that left her feeling hot and cold alternativley.
There was a moment where she just stared shocked at Joan and the others, then her face turned to look around her, her expression suddenly filled with shock and horror at where she was. It was more than just fear of the Initiative that filled her, there was a terror of what Joan would do to her. She remembered back to their last encounters, Joan stabbing her in the chest with a needlle,Cat shuddered slightly at the recolection.
'Riley!! Riley.... wake up.' Her hands clutched at his shoulders, her nails unintensionally digging into his skin. She shook him a little, her eyes still trained on Joan as if she was going to leap through the barriers and attack her.
Cat: Can there be any hope for us after all thats happened?
Re: Another day in Captivity
There was hardly any chance for his mind to understand what was going on, the last thing he would remember was drifting to sleep with his hand holding onto Catherine’s hand, it was the best night of his life and he had been looking forward to waking with her in his arms or at his side. The forceful shake from his rest, the faint pinching feel barely causing discomfort where most would have reacted with even at least a mild feeling of pain. The drug still fogged his mind and he slowly open his eyes, and groaned from the dull discomfort of a mild headache, his sight blinded by the bright light and causing his eyes to scrunch shut tightly. Her voice had sounded so panicked, he tried to sit up, but he felt so groggy and all his movements sluggish, he couldn’t understand why, he didn’t remember drinking and unlike his friends he never had hang overs, he normally got a little ill if he drunk too much but that was within an hour of over drinking and his body always fixed him up within half and hour of being sick.
Why was she shinning a light in his face? Riley groaned unhappily at that while he managed to sit him, they where in their room as far as he considered so he couldn’t imagine why she was so worried over something, he figured maybe they over slept and missed classes.. But she isn’t taking classes, maybe there was something wrong with her throat again! Riley’s hands reached for Catherine’s, there was a numb discomfort in his cheek where he had been bruised from both Spike’s defensive punches and when Mac had taken Spike’s place. The faintly bruised cut on his lip was annoying for him, he frowned as he forced his drowsy eyes open, he was so tired they hurt to open, the strong light didn’t help at all. One of his hands left Catherine and touched his cheek as he blinked, Riley was convinced he wasn’t awake, it was not possible for this to be real. There was a dazed disbelief in his face, his eyes dropping to study his clothes, then over at the figures outside, a shiver ran through him at the sight of Joan.
Ignoring the smug look upon Joan’s face, Riley stared at Catherine’s shoulder for a moment, his hand gently increasing the grip of his hand only enough not to hurt her but to make sure she was real. There was a horrific moment when a terrible thought crossed his mind, a moment where he wondered if all he had remembered with Catherine had been just a dream. Dropping his eyes to his hand in a panicked thought of this, trying to assure his time with Catherine had been real, he was absolutely shattered at the sight of his hand, bare of the ring she had given him. No, something was wrong, he’s never had dreams like that before, he’s never been exposed to such things, his mind couldn’t have just made that all up.
“Bring the last one out, prep the room for Riley, we’ll start in an hour when they arrive.” The words both confused and worried him, his fingers reaching for where his tags usually where about his neck, but even they weren’t there anymore, everything he wore that was a form of comfort for him was gone. He frowned at Joan was she moved towards the barrier, looking at them as if they where caged animal’s there for her amusement. “What’s the matter Riley, didn’t think we’d get you back?” Back? That means he did leave, and even though she looked so cruel with her curved little smile and high and mighty attitude, Riley couldn’t help but looked relived at the confermation that his time away from the Initiative wasn’t just a dream. The Initiative Hybred scoffed a little at his lack of response and went off with the others to prepare the Re-Training room for Riley and her guests. Joan purposefully picked up a large needle similar to the one she had stabbed Catherine with so many months before, stepping out of the room and giving orders to the two men dragging another man from the Re-Training room and on their way out of the Detention area to take him to the medical room.
“If he stays in the coma for more then 3 hours then we’re not bothering with him any more, I’m tired of having to deal with his weak handling of the Experimental Project!” There was a slight wave of the needle in her hand as she talked, Riley was more focused on the person being carried away then on Joan however, he didn’t recognise the young man, but with Riley’s constant memory blocking and wiping that didn’t meant he’s never met that other guy before. She disappeared into the room, and by then with everyone’s yelling Max had sat up but remained rather still over in the corner of the cell, content in not being noticed by this strange people. The instant Joan left the room and the other men either went with her or dragged that man off, Riley took the chance of turning his attention to Catherine.
“What happened? I don’t remember coming back here, I don’t understand what’s going on.” He sounded a little panicked, he stilled hoped this was some sort of nightmare but this all felt too real to be a dream, he felt stiff all over from laying down on the hard floor with all the bruises that riddled his body from his two violent fights with Max and Spike, though the vampire was defending himself from Marc’s brutal treatement towards him. The glare he was getting from Max went unnoticed since he hadn’t yet realized there other two in the cell with them, he was still groggy from the drugs and dazed by the fear he had lost some of his memories again.
Re: Another day in Captivity
This couldn't be happening she decided as she stared horrified at Joan, she'd just had her senses returned to her again and now this... she'd been locked away from the world yet again. She felt the sudden feeling that maybe it would be best just to lie down and die now because there was no way they were going to ever escape from here alive. Maybe they didn't plan on keeping them alive, but then why hadn't they just shot her outright? She hadn't registered the fact that there were other people than Riley in the cell with her.
“Bring the last one out, prep the room for Riley, we’ll start in an hour when they arrive.” Cat looked helplessly at Riley and then over at Joan, this just couldn't be happening again, it all felt like nightmare to her. They were going to wipe Riley's memory again, she'd loose him and then they'd keep him away from her and Joan would persuade him to sleep with her and she Cat would be locked away down here forever or until they got sick of her when they'd kill her. The muscles in her legs were shivering a the thought, or maybe they'd remove her memory as well and turn her into a mindless soilder and she'd walk past Riley everyday and not realise just how much she loved him. Riley's hand was on her shoulder, his grip had just increased as he realised where in the world he was. She just wanted to throw herself again him and cower down until they were left alone and everyone stopped looking at them. She knew how goldfish felt or animals in a zoo, having peole peer in at them though the glass and having nowhere to hide.
“What’s the matter Riley, didn’t think we’d get you back?” Cat's body inched a little away from the glass as she remembered again what she'd done to Joan last time they'd seen each other. She was sure Joan was going to make her pay for doing that to her. Her eyes watched as Joan picked up a long needle, her skin twitching slightly as she thought of being injected with it.
Paige hadn't moved yet, her body was having a hard time dealing with the drugs that she'd breathed in, she was more suceptible to them since her powers reduced her own bodies natural healing ability. It would probably be quite a while before anything could arouse her, and even then she'd feel ill and groggy.
“What happened? I don’t remember coming back here, I don’t understand what’s going on.” Cat could only shake her head, all she remembered was being taken away from the school and then to somewhere else, she wasn't even sure what they'd been doing there. She was sure she'd been getting her senses back and then she must have blacked out and woken up here. Her eyes looked fearfully out of the front of the cell and then around her, as if looking for an escape route. She was suprised however to see the rather battered form of Max sitting in the corner and the rather crumpled form of another girl who looked as if she was still suffering the effects of the drugs. Cat wanted to go over to her and see if she was alright but at the same time she didn't want to leave the security she was feeling at being near Riley.
'I dunno, ask him.' Her voice sounded really high pitched and strained to her as she pointed over towards Max, soemthing in her voice almost accusing though, as if indicating that it was probably his fault they were here.
Cat: Can there be any hope for us after all thats happened?
Re: Another day in Captivity
The glare Cat got in reply from Max to her statment was caught by Riley as he turned around and stared back at the school bully that was confined in the cell with them. Not only was Max scared of what was happening, though as usual his fear was hiding behind a very angry temper, but Max knew if he had just left and ignored Paige then he wouldn't have been here.
"Shut up you ungrateful brat." Riley yelled at Max with a rather threatening sounding 'Hey' at the way the stone mutant dared talk to his unknowingly pregnant girlfriend "It's your fault we're here, I'm not having her point the finger at me like that just because you turned into a maniac, you stuck up freak, think just because you wave a gun about gives you the right to falsly blame others for your stupidity." Riley had completely gotten lost on Max's rant and was the expression he was giving Max would hint that Riley had no clue of the troubles that have passed them. Max rolled his eyes and angrily glared at the glass as if the hate in his eyes just might shatter the glass and free them.
"You're not making any sense," Riley replied rather confused and yet still a little angry with Max, before adding rather spitefully "But that's not a rare thing." It was well known neither of the boys liked each other, both seemed to silently agree to ignore each other for the moment since Max stared at the glass and Riley returned his focus towards Catherine. He looked suddenly very worried and still extremely confused over everything, inching his body a little closer towards Catherine. It hurt to move, he felt so stiff and sore all over, he wanted to figure out what was going on, but nothing made any sense. He could feel the cut on his lip since it had also swollen a little, his hand lifted for a moment to his cheek since it was also hurting from the bruise but since he couldn't remember what happened he sudden got scared they had also hurt Catherine.
"Are you alright, did they hurt you? I don't understand, how did we get here, the last thing I remember is falling asleep with you and now.." He glanced down at his military outfit rather now, had someone changed him.. he got paranoid for a moment that maybe Joan changed him into these clothes "..Who dressed us all up?" He didn't like other people seeing him undressed, only Catherine was allowed to see him like that, he didn't like the thought that someone had dressed him up while he was asleep and he hadn't noticed it.
Re: Another day in Captivity"Shut up you ungrateful brat." She was suprised by the venom in Max's voice as he spoke to her, he seemed really angry and upset by the fact that she'd almost told him to his face that she thought it was his fault that they were here in the first place. She really had no clue what had happened though, she had no idea where they'd been or now they'd ended up here. "It's your fault we're here, I'm not having her point the finger at me like that just because you turned into a maniac, you stuck up freak, think just because you wave a gun about gives you the right to falsly blame others for your stupidity." It was Riley's fault? Her eyes turned to look over at him, what had he done? was he bringing them back here. There was a very upset look in her eyes as she looked back over at Riley.
"You're not making any sense," She could feel a deep seated kind of terror welling up inside her, she shouldn't be back here again... not after she'd spent so much time getting away from them and putting them out of her mind but now she was faced with the stark reality of them again. "But that's not a rare thing." There were such angry words flying around from all of them when what they should be doing was sitting down and putting their heads together. She just couldn't see any hope in them escaping and she was going to loose Riley again. There was a lump in the back of her throat, it was all so unfair.
"Are you alright, did they hurt you? I don't understand, how did we get here, the last thing I remember is falling asleep with you and now.." He'd inched closer to her and his voice seemed really worried. But how could he know, he hadn't been Riley he'd been Marc again and the two of them didn't seem concious of what the other decided to do... so did that mean that he didn't remember what her and Marc had done. She'd have to tell him, but not like this, not now.
'Marc came back again..' There was a guilty look on her face followed by a pained one as she thought of what she'd done behind Riley's back, he'd be crushed when he found out. For now though she just wanted to be near him, to feel some comfort from his presence. 'And I lost my sight and hearing.' There was a short pause broken by her nervous voice. 'You don't remember anything?'
Cat: Can there be any hope for us after all thats happened?
Re: Another day in Captivity"Marc came-" He looked really hurt at that news but was distracted while he spoke by the last part of what she had said "You lost your sight and hearing?" And he hadn't been there, she couldn't see and she couldn't hear and he should have been there for her, he should have held her and comforted her and helped her get through whatever she was going through. It must have been horrible, lost in her dark world, but unlike Lost Angels, she didn't even have company in this dark world.
Riley blinked a little as his palm dragged down his cheek to feel the stubble, Marc had shaved every few days just to keep Catherine's suspicions down, though Marc dispised looking in the mirror and seeing Riley's clean cut face. But for Riley it signalled one important thing, they stable was at least days old, how long had he been sleeping while Marc was using his body? This couldn't be real, he couldn't sleep with such a perfect moment in his life falling over him and then wake up to it all falling apart. It seemed to take an extra bit longer for the fact to completely sink in about their dangerous situation, but more importantly was that he was being threatend to be taken away from Catherine again.
Once again Riley's hands reached for Catherine, all he wanted to do was wake up again but this time still in her arms, for a moment his eyes and finger tips seemed to trace about her face, as if there was a chance she was hiding any bruises and his touch just might make them visible to him. He still looked completely lost, and a little scared now, frightened of what could have caused Marc to return, paranoid that it might happen again and also now terrified that they where could to take him away from her once more. After the short moment he shook his head a little in reply to her asking if he could remember anything, it was that horrible feeling of not knowing again, memories stolen from him, hidden away so he wouldn't know the truth.
Looking even more upset then before, Riley's arms gently coaxed Catherine towards him, he was sitting on his knees in front of her so he hoped he wasn't making her uncomfortable. He inched his body a little more towards her so her weight could rest more easily against him, he was really sorry that he left her, that he was so weak that Marc's personality shone through, he didn't remember the cause so he didn't understand that it wasn't his fault.
"Someone will come for us.. someone always comes." Now that he knew it's been possibly days since he last held Catherine, it made his mind feel as if it had been years since he last held her. One of his hands tried to sooth her worries by stroking his finger tips lightly through her hair, he tried to remember what happened, but he couldn't, his eyes stared at the unfamiliar girl, unaware the fear he had caused her just a few short hours ago. He wandered if she would be alright, but he shut his eyes as he heard movement outside the cell, two guards entering the room and making their way into the Re-Training room quickly. Riley's head dropped lightly, he didn't want to be here, he didn't want those people to come in here and drag him away, he was scared and at the same time he had to be strong because he's already left Catherine alone and he didn't want her to see him frightened when she needed him to protect her.
