Araniel Failivrin
Personal Information:
Screename: Araniel1

Contact Info: skylab26@hotmail.com

Experience: About three years. Rping on all different kinds of RPGs.

Character Information:
Name: Araniel Failivrin

Gender: Female

Age: about 2673

Race: Elf (of the Sindar)

Description: Tall and lithe form. Depending on light, her hair can look either brown or light brown. Her eyes are cerulean colored, that stand out against her light skin. Tends to wear light colors, as is tradition with Elves of Lothlòrien. Usually some elegant gowns, but sometimes where she is practicing or moving about too much, she will wear gear typical of a traveler (or Wood Elf).

Personality: She is a fairly quiet Elf and observant. Though she does enjoy having light conversations with people. Although she might have a serious face on, do not let it fool you. She has a lighter side and it will come out if looked for. Past experiences have forced a grave and intense imprint on her, but she is still hopeful and kind as most Elves are.

Possessions: Bow and arrows of Lothlòrien that were given to her by her father. And Elven fighting knives, which she carries on her back in scabbards on either side of her quiver. The knives, have a flowing organic design, are adorned with Elven golden leaves motifs, and the blades feature a very detailed filigree etch. (But she rarely uses them as she not too skilled with them)

History/Background:
Born in Spring of 340 in the Third Age to Lord Ithildor Failivrin and Laerielle of Rivendell. Ithildor was an Elf of Lothlórien and a sentinel in the armies of Lothlórien. His line does not come directly from that of the Noldor, but from the Calaquendi (High Elves), slowly leading into the Sindar. Laerielle is of the Sindarin bloodline. Which is why she (Araniel) considers herself more Sindar than anything else. One might think that she took on traits from both her parents. Her father was tall and strong. Dark haired and blue eyes. Her mother was very fair, pale of skin and golden hair (looking more of Lothlórien). But no, she gained her fathers traits, all of them, and hardly anything to say Laerielle was her mother.

She grew up mostly in Lothlòrien, not really wanting to travel out of that safe keeping. Though her nature was calm, she was still an energetic and spunky little elfling. She had no brothers or sisters, so she spent her time playing with friends.

From the beginning, she showed promise with a bow. She had her father’s sharp gaze. She did not show much love for a bow and arrow, but her father insisted that she should not neglect the talent. So she practiced from time to time, slowly getting better at her aim. It was during this time that an admiration began to form for Haldir of Lothlorien. Thought she did not speak to him often.

She was still very young when her family decided to travel out of Lothlòrien. Ithildor wished to travel to Lasgalen to see a cousin of his there. Not too many Elves traveled to Lasgalen, being that the Wood Elf king was not always to welcoming, but he did not mind that. So they set out at dawn, Laerielle never letting Araniel out of her sight, which was strange to the little girl because her mother always let her go off and play around. Something disturbed the Elf lady. She remembered that many were now calling Thranduil’s woods, Mirkwood. A shadow was growing underneath the boughs of the great forest.

They were reaching the Old Forest Road when it came at last, an attack of spiders. At this time, such an attack was rare, so one can only assume that the spiders had gotten lost or desperate. Ithilden did extremely well considering he was alone and Laerielle did her best to help. But soon, they had been overwhelmed and Laerielle was forced to try and escape with Araniel. Laerielle was able to fit the scared elfling between some thick bushes. Her father died that day. Her mother survived, but it was as though she had died as well. A scouting party of Wood Elves had found the body and then the child. They were taken in by the Wood Elves and then returned to Lothlòrien, where Araniel was taken care of by her aunt and uncle. Her mother’s pain was too great, so Laerielle bid farewell to her daughter and sailed to the West.

This event changed her, as it would anyone. She practiced with her bow and arrows day and night. Convinced that if she had had some skill with a weapon, she may have been able to help her family. Her skills became quite advanced. Although her skills with a bow are very impressive, she is not too skilled with her long knives or with physical attacks. She works on this as much as she can. She swore to help bring down the darkness that took away her family and had made others suffer, even of her role was small.

(And I will leave it there because well, I cant really predict what will happen in her future. Guess I’ll have to let the rest develop) :D

Sample RPG:
Araniel looked down to the ground. She was once again in the trees, listening to the wind dance about the leaves. She felt very at home being in the trees. She loved to climb them and be, well, just be around them. And the trees of Lòrien were the best around. Very beautiful and full of life.

She had also heard stories that the trees of Mirkwood were also impressive. But thinking of Mirkwood just brought chills up her spine. Thinking of those trees also made her think of the creatures hiding in them. And yet, she felt as though she would need to travel there. There were demons there that were still haunting her, so she had to face them. Aside from that, she had heard that Wood Elves were very skilled with a bow and she wanted to see that for herself. Perhaps there was something she could learn from them.

“Araniel! You shall come tumbling down one of those trees one of these days!”

Araniel looked down once more and saw a friend looking up at her. Araniel simply laughed and shook her head.

“Nay! The trees shall catch me!” Araniel replied.

Her friend chuckled and walked off leaving Araniel alone with her thoughts. Araniel looked to the sky and smiled. Perhaps it was time to move away from Lòrien. Not that she wanted to, but felt that she had to. Dark times were coming and she would not stay in Lothlòrien to live in ignorance.
