Arival... is this hell?
the day had finally arrived, the machine was ready. Now dressed in his full suit Percy inspected the exterior of his creation one last time before stepping in. it looked like a large crate with a big clock on the front, with pipes and countless other bits of machinery around it, by looking at it no one but he would believe that it actually worked. With a quick glance at his pocket-watch he closed the door, he had to get this right, one false calculation and god knows where he would end up.
It took a few minutes to set the machine to the correct date, the steam engine which was supposed to power the thing had already been started up and all that was needed was to pull one last lever and it would attempt to traverse the boundary of time. He took a deep breath, “this is the moment…” he said out loud to himself “the moment where you find out how clever you actually are…” shutting his eyes tight he reached out and pulled the lever, his arm catching some dials on the way.
As the machine began to shake he opened his eyes again, not noticing the dials spinning, changing the desired date. It shook more violently now, he lost his balance and grabbed the sides to stop himself falling, his glasses dropping to the floor.
The shaking stopped, a whistling was heard inside, a strange honking noise could be heard from outside. Percy picked up his glasses and opened the door, he was no longer in his workshop, but it was not what he had expected. There were buildings surrounding him, and people everywhere. Strange things rushed past him with people inside, like horseless carriages. Afraid He slowly walked backwards towards the machine but a squealing made him spin round as one of the carriages hurtled towards him, smoke coming from the wheels where it was trying to stop.
He froze “oh my god…” at the last minute he moved, the vehicle clipped him as he dived out of the way, sending him sprawling along the road before it collided with his machine. With a sickening crunch the flimsy wooden machine broke, splintering to pieces. Percy groaned, the padding in his coat had absorbed most of the impact but his side still hurt, his glasses were once again on the floor but this time they had a large crack across the left lens. Most of the rushing noises had stopped, the vehicles now stationary and a few people had stopped what they were doing, he could hear someone running towards him.

Re: Arival... is this hell?
The evening had been like most previous days, lingering around the Hotel during the day and mostly occupying his time with Arisa and then at night if she was out on her own or with that demonic half breed William Turner, then he'd stroll down to the Blackrose for a nice refreshing drink and allow himself a good few hours of mopping about Rogue. At least he was looking healthier now, as healthy as a dead man could look anyway!
There was a sudden burst of commoti0on ahead, the vampire lifting his dazed eyes to look ahead of himself, the dark streets were bright with the road site lights and buildings that brought their own glow into the darkness. So Spike could easily see what was happening, even though he could see in perfect darkness as well. The cars were mostly still now, some beeping their horns and wanting the stationary ones to move out of the other, others remaining patiantly to see what had happened and if everyone was okay.
Ahead of him was a body, the undead creature had seen it leap out of the way of the truck and yet noone was being overly helpful in getting over to him and checking to see if he was alright, probably because they all figured he had been completely missed by the large vehcile. Taking off into a jog, Spike hurriedly made his way towards the man, his long black coat flapping behind him and the heels of his shoes tapping on the pavement most likely alerted the human to Spike's approach.
"You okay mate?" It felt strange.. it felt too normal, Spike wasn't used to normality, this is something a human should be doing, not a vampire. But then again, Spike wasn't like any other vampire's, and that was something he was just going to have to accept, even without a soul he wasn't considered a 'normal' creature of the night. Wearing completely black aside from his red long sleeved shirt, which had another black t-shirt under it, Spike mostly blended into the night around him, handy for when you're on the run from anyone.. or anything.
Re: Arival... is this hell?
At the sound of rapid footsteps he froze, expecting something to jump on him and even though he had prepared himself for confronting vampires and demons in the confusion he had forgotten all his training.
"You okay mate?" he let out a relieved sigh, glad that it had turned out to be a person not a monster, and that the person hadn’t jumped on him “I… I think so” turning his head over his shoulder to look at the man he realized he didn’t have his glasses as the figure was just a blur.
Before nervously scrabbling to his feet he groped around for his glasses, a small round pair that looked way too unfashionable to be modern. As he stood and dusted himself down his style of clothes would look awfully familiar to the vampire, he probably wore the same sort of thing a few hundred years ago, his trousers only went just below the knee, the rest of his legs covered by a pair of brown horse riding boots, and his shirt was overly frilly around the button holes and cuffs.
In an effort to clear his vision he placed his glasses back on his nose where they were supposed to be, only to realize that one lens was broken and mostly missing but out of his left eye he could distinguish what the figure looked like and his attire, it looked very strange, so did his hair. “The name’s Percy” he held out his hand in a friendly sort of gesture, hoping to get a name from the strange man but as he extended his arm the crossbow release mechanism must have got damaged in the fall causing it to give way.
As the bow shot out above his hand he nearly died of shock before realizing what had happened “I…I…I’m terribly sorry” now fumbling with the bow to hide it again he accidentally caught the trigger, sending an arrow over the stranger’s shoulder “oh” he exclaimed looking at where the arrow had just disappeared to whilst still trying to shove the bow back.
But now his attention had been turned to the city behind the vampire, the stationary cars, the buildings… the people, he stared in disbelief at the scene around him “where is this place…” it was almost a whisper, not directed at anyone but himself “what year is this” he turned back to the vampire, forgetting about his crossbow, his mid length hair falling over his face enough to cause him to move it out of the way.

Re: Arival... is this hell?
ooc: Sorry I took so long.. had babysitting duties.. Your best siggy by the way!!
------------
“I… I think so” There seemed to be some kind of problem when the man glanced over at Spike, a moment later he fumbled about the ground and retrieved his glasses. With a look of surprise Spike nervously glanced about, those where the kind that Spike had once used as a human, not exactly, his were a little smaller and gold and far more elegant.. his mother gave them to him, he thought they were spectacular, back then anyway.
The man stood up and disted himself off, Spike stared rather awkwardly at the guys clothes, the vampire was always uncomfortable around things that reminded him of his past life and this man was doing a very good job at just that. But he seemed as curious about Spike's looks as the vanpire did about his with those fleeting glances Spike caught the man giving him.
“The name’s Percy” Spike lifted his arm a little cautiously only to see an arrow poking out over the mans hand. A demon hunter! Only they tended to have crossbows attached to their arms in Spike's experience! Nervously Spike pulled his hand away, everyone knew of him, demons and demon hunters alike! He didn't want trouble.. most demon hunters didn't understand the difference between a soulled vampire and a soulless one.
“I…I…I’m terribly sorry” With a rather blank blink as he struggled to figure out what was going on, Spike only just managed to let his head tilt to the right as the arrow zoomed over his shoulder. Ok, either this guy is REALLY clumsy, or very smart in trying to look clueless while attempting to kill Spike. “oh” He honestly didn't sound hostile, in that sense Spike found this sort of amusing, until he noticed the way this man seemed to be looking around him.
“where is this place…” ..New York? Spike glanced about slowly, or did he mean the street name? Spike didn't know street names, he was from out of town.. well not really... out of this entire reality truth be told! “what year is this” Well, that was unexpected..
"March 9th, 2024, 'is is New York by th'way.. everythin' alright?" Spike shifted about slightly uncomfortable before adding, "Oh, an um, I'm... William." It felt really weird and humiliating to call himself that, but the instant he was about to say 'Spike' he caught himself. A demon hunter would know a vampire as famous as Spike, and fair enough he was far more famous and feared in his own reality, but he had still be a terrifying entity here as well, only this worlds Spike had gotten his soul sooner then this one did.
Re: Arival... is this hell?
"March 9th, 2024, 'is is New York by th'way.. everythin' alright?"
as spike said the date percy's eyes grew drastically, he couldn't help but stare in disbelief at the vampire.... "2024..." he repeated the date to himself, a smile growing on his face as he realised that he had actually managed a time leap "i did it..." he paused "they said it couldnt be done... but i did it.." the realisation was now begining to sink in, but slowly the smile dissapeared
"2024.. but that means.." he paused again, it was common for him to do as he spoke to himself, his mind often needed time to think things over fully "...i'm nearly two hundred and fifty years in the future... thats thousands of years out" a frown developed as he now stared down, not really looking at anything.
quickly remembering something he swung round to look for the time machine, his heart sinking as he saw the shards and bent metal "no.. no.." he repeated quietly, with a defeated air he hid his face in his hands.. he had failed.. not only himself but his uncle too.
dropping to his knees he peered through the gaps between his fingers at the wreck that was once a time machine. Not for the first time in his life he felt like a complete failure "why didn't i listen to them..." it was a random thing to say in the middle of the street but he didnt care "you'll never amount to anything.." by 'they' he was reffering to the others his age, they tended to pick on him because of what he siad and did, it wasnt thier fault, he was just way ahed of his time and they didnt understand.

Re: Arival... is this hell?
The look the stranger gave Spike made him feel a little awkward, "2024..." he sounded in pretty much a state of awe, Spike wondered what was up with this guy, only to raise a brow as he continued to speak. "i did it..." He did what? "they said it couldnt be done... but i did it.." What couldn't be done? Spike shifted about impatiently since he didn't like it when people babbled, now he knows how it must feel for poor Rogue who had to listen to him mumble on and on about nothing or everything all at once.
"2024.. but that means.." Now he didn't look too pleased.. "...i'm nearly two hundred and fifty years in the future... thats thousands of years out" Future? Thousands of years out of where? "no.. no.." Spike blinked with surprise as the man dropped down to his knees, his mind already assessing what he has heard and realizing this guy must be on about people saying time travel can't be done.. he was in the future, it'd explain his odd clothing, and.. Spike's gone insane again hasn't he? The vampire glanced about with a look of slight paranoia, he had to take care of Arisa, now wasn't a good time to become insane!!
"why didn't i listen to them..." Pulling his eyes away from looking towards the direction the hotel was in, Spike glanced down at the miserable man, "you'll never amount to anything.." How many times had Spike heard those words mumbled or shouted at him? His entire life.. and unlife, there was a quick shake of his head, bad thoughts only helped trigger insanity attacks, so think happy thoughts, or important ones at least since happy ones will just make him depressed. He had to get back to Arisa, can't let her arrive back to an empty hotel, or worse, Angel will be there and Spike isn't keen on her talking with the other vampire or any of the other demons while he isn't around, luckily right now they hotel was basically empty aside from them.
"I don't mean to intrude mate, but there's a kid waitin' fo' me back home," Spike was insane, whether he looked it or not, his mind was very fragile right now and the thought of letting Arisa down by not being there for her was nagging at the back of his mind and the longer he was away the more stressed he got and then the more stressed he was the more visible his insanity will become.
" 'Sides, whimperin' 'bout New York streets at night ain't wise, you ain't got a place to stay'en ya might as well come with me, I live in a hotel.. so plenty o'room." There was another thing making Spike feel awkward, and that was that this man reminded him so very well of himself when he was human. And if there was one thing Spike didn't like, it was being reminded of his life, it was just far too painful and humiliating.
Re: Arival... is this hell?
someone must hate him, why else would this have happened? depression was well on its way towards taking over. he wished the road would just swallow him.. this wasnt supposed to have happened like this, it all went against his plan, he was supposed to be standing in the middle of a hostile wilderness stopping the existance of vampire's, not moping in the middle of some futuristic town next to the remains of his only way home.
"I don't mean to intrude mate, but there's a kid waitin' fo' me back home,"
leaving the depression behind for a miniute his attention turned towards William, he looked a nice person, even though he couldnt see him properly through his damaged glasses, and his name was familiar to Percy. " 'Sides, whimperin' 'bout New York streets at night ain't wise, you ain't got a place to stay'en ya might as well come with me, I live in a hotel.. so plenty o'room." New York.. it didnt make much sense to him, how did he get from london to new york, but that was of little importance at the moment.
"I wouldnt like to intrude on your family.." he didnt realise that William wasnt reffering to his own child, he thought that the vampire must have a wife and child at this hotel "but it seems that i have nowhere else to go and.." he stood as he spoke, pausing and leaning closer his voice went a little quieter "it sot safe in the dark, you'll probably not believe me but..2 he paused again, looking about to make sure that no one else was listening "vampire's exist.. i know it sounds strange but its true, no one's safe.. demons as well"
he didnt expect william to understand, no one did, they all, just laughed at him and assumed he'd been at the ale too long, he looked around the floor quickly, just a few steps away lay his canvas bag, thrown from the crash it had landed on it side and partially split. "here, look" he quicky grabbed it and opened it, removing an old looking book he'd borrowed from the library, its cover was red and had an image of a demon embossed on the cover "its centuries old, the only one left in the world, it was written as a guide to all the demonic entities that crawl this land.. and how to kill them"
he held the book out for spike to look at, his other hand still clutching the now opened bag, its contents visible for anyone looking, on the top of his clothes lay a small assortment of weapons, his pistols, a cross, his grappler, a small collection of tools and a large truncheon.. the crosses carved into the wood gave an indication of its purpose "though you need not worry about vampire's.. i have studied many, and killed two myself" he sounded proud of this, not realising that it wasnt anything fantastic in this time period

Re: Arival... is this hell?"I wouldnt like to intrude on your family.." At first Spike wondered how Percy knew that the vampire considered Arisa family, a sort of little sister in a sense, but felt slightly embarrased as he realized the human must be thinking that he meant she was his child. "but it seems that i have nowhere else to go and.." The man leaned clother towards Spike and the vampire felt a little anxious towards 'why' this man was moving closer towards him, "it sot safe in the dark, you'll probably not believe me but.." A curious looked sparked in Spike's eyes as his brow raised once again in an intruged manner, "vampire's exist.. i know it sounds strange but its true, no one's safe.. demons as well" There was a split feeling of amusement of concern, part of him felt like chuckling outloud and another part felt like leaving Percy's company as soon as possible.
Watching as Percy stepped back and eventually pulled out a book from his sack of belongings, "here, look" Spike stared with recognition hidden within his eyes. He knew this book.. 'So you're the bloody bugger who too it eh?' There was an inward smirk, Angelus had not at all been pleased, luckily enough Dru had managed to duplicate it before it was taken, but they had wanted the original since she missed a few things and when Dru went back to swap it in their world the book had gone, probably the same thing happened in this one. It had to have, since the duplicate was sitting in a display shelf in the main entrance hall of the hotel. Luckily it wasn't like this book so if Percy sees the weapons case and the black leather book displayed in the middle he wouldn't know it was a copy of this book.
"its centuries old, the only one left in the world, it was written as a guide to all the demonic entities that crawl this land.. and how to kill them" There was a silent scoff, this book was one of many, maybe not identical, but Percy was a human and wouldn'tn even know that the book wasn't a complete guide to ALL the demons, then again, new ones were seeming to pop up all the top.. he'd probably look like a kid in a candy store if he went though the new books that have been updated with new information about both old and new demons alike.
There was a slight feeling of uncertainty swelling within Spike, this guy seemed well prepared, even if he didn't seem as wise as the VERY serious demonic hunters, he could still pose a problem, "though you need not worry about vampire's.. i have studied many, and killed two myself" Spike couldn't help but repeat Percy's last words in his mind with a thick coating of sarcasme 'Wow.. killed two all by yaself now did ya?' There was a silent chuckle in the back of his mind while he kept a nuetral expression, it was still very uncomfortable dealing with this guy.. but he couldn't just leave the human on the streets..
"Oh really?" Spike asked with casual tone to his voice, Percy might as well have just made a comment on the weather for all the interest it had stirred in the vampire, "Good thing I found you then, coz a lots happened since you last slayed a demon, and I ain't jus' refereing t'the advances in technology an' fashion sense.." This may be dangerous, what if he tried to hurt Arisa thinking she was a demon? Hopefully nibblet was still out on her nightly prowls..
"Gotta make one stop an'en we're off t' home sweet home," Spike motioned the human down the street in a rather impatient manner, worst thing that could happen is some mutant wondering around and by all the luck Spike had it would be highly deformed and Percy would probably try and kill it. Taking the human down the more quieter streets for safety sake, William signalled to Percy that he needed to go inside to grab some treats for Arisa to snack on.
"I'll be back inna minute, needa grab Nibblet.. I mean Arisa, some snacks." His pet name for her slipped out so easily that he had to quickly correct himself, Spike hurriedly pulled out some loose notes he had in his pocket as he rushed into the store, the bell on the door ringing to alert the owner of his arrival.
"Back, got'em things ready fo' me?" Raising his voice so that the girl who had been here earlier when he stopped by could hear him while she was rushing from the room out back where she had been collecting some things to restock the shelf.
"Yeah, I um.. here, I got them here, it's thirty-eight dollars sir," She fiddled around, her eyes catching Percy's strange clothes easily enough as she handed Spike two bags full of food and treats and some drinks.. He hasn't ever taken care of a kid before, so he had asked the girl to supply him with whatever a kid needed to survive for a couple of days. Dropping two twenties on the counter for her as he grabbed up the bags, he turned away and called over his shoulder that she could keep the change.
"Erm," While Spike started walking he had been checking out what was in the bag just so he knew for future refurence what to grab off the shelves, "Th' kitchen's not really up to scratch I'm afraid, oven's out an all'at, so we're stuck with microwaved food-" The a pause as he caught himself, they didn't have microwaves back in his time, Spike chuckled slightly, glancing over at Percy, "Sorry mate, uh.. the thing we use to cook most o'our food is broken, boss man doesn't use it so he didn't ever fix it.. The only thing that does work fo' cooking doesn't cook very nicely I hear, if ya hungry, we can call for someone to bring you some food, wouldn't want my first time travelin' guest t'starve." Spike was from another dimension so time traveling wasn't that big a deal for the vampire, intresting at first, old news soon after.
