Before Joining - Some Facts on NewEvo
NE is based more off the comics, but the year is 2024, allowing the players to be creative with their marvel characters and state what they have been doing with their lives the past 20 years. Have they stayed at the institute, have they wandered off elsewhere, do they have a family now?

The main point of the timeline was to allow original characters, the shift from the first set of warriors to the next generation of Xavier’s heroes. While original’s are welcomed, and X-men related characters are accepted, there are rules. First being that only a max of about four original relations can be used on the board. After that all others are denied *unless* the player who plays the mother/father/other relation is really interested in the additional character up for application.

Wolverine’s for example must give his/her person for any blood relations that desire to join the board – if Wolverine’s player thinks the bio isn’t up to scratch or not something his/her character would have done (run off to a nightclub and rapped three separate woman to produce three different kids or whatnot…) then that person is within full right to state their complaints. This is an example, right now there are three original children for Wolverine, and I’d be very reluctant on adding anyone else due to the tight knit/traumatically dramatic bonds the group have and it would look slightly odd to just throw another sibling there if the player wants to have their character born and raised in the institute.

Mostly original’s run the board, which is why we always look for new Marvel characters to grace our storylines. We’re open to suggestion, and we’re not highly strict towards the marvel-verse up of character histories as long as they aren’t utterly difficult they pose a problem (Like Sinister was a Scientist struggling on the happier living styles of livestock instead of his hell-bent genetic experiments and such). We’re pretty open to creativity and provided the bio is detailed and specifies why there was a character change, either in the past twenty years or before then, we’d most likely accept you without too much fuss and a look of interest.

There isn’t a large amount of X-men offspring, pretty limited at the moment and we suggest you don’t go making a character without finding the player of the character you want to create a relative for, that way you know what’s going and how to go about integrated your relative into the storyline. Most of us tend to avoid mentioning social family lives to not make things too complicated and leave the option for new arrivals open, but be sure to ask around anyway. Even if all you’re doing is leaving a few questions in Role Play on whatever you need to discuss.

Understand that NE is a skilled RPG. We push for detailed posts, they don’t all have to be massive novels but we do like them around the 500 words. Which is basically the length from the top of this post to here.

The people here enjoy to put effort into their posts and get the same effort back, to understand the thoughts, actions and emotions of the character as well as the verbal responses. Short posts make it hard for players to come up with decent replies, fair enough there are those days where a 300 post is the best you can do, but it is awfully displeasing for people who enjoy their postings to have put time aside for splendid posts and get a 200 word reply every single time compared to their 500 or 800 word post. The best aim to have a happy time here is to have posts in their 400-500 mark, for new players we understand this isn’t always easy considering their character doesn’t have as much play time and thus isn’t as highly developed or the player themselves may not be used to the sort of posts they may read here. NE has been very withdrawn for the past few years, sticking mostly to the players whom are commonly seen in the general discussion area playing around and mucking about and speaking what most people would consider utter nonsense yet all understanding each other anyway!

Communication is the key to the game, people who communication their wants, desires and ailments find themselves more easily integrated into the community. We are a bunch of lovely people, and new comers have no idea the extremes these people have gone to for each other. So you really are joining a community of very close friends and at times that can make newbies feel left out if they don’t get in contact with us. The best form of contact is via MSN. But post around the board in the OOC areas and you’ll get replies there as well. If you have ideas, or want answers, we’re here to help.

Additionally if you are new to Role Playing Games, or new to Skilled boards; Tell us, so we know your level and that you’re trying to learn and improve with time. Some people have little heart in posting detailed posts and find it more enjoyable to do ‘quickies’, but some people are honestly trying and want to improve but just need a little time. If we know, we can help you, either by actually helping you in some form or by just giving you some time to handle your character and writing skills. We are keen for good posts, but we are just as keen for helping new players or people interested in wanting to better themselves through experience with us. We have had a few newbies to Role Playing online who are now very good members of the board. So a little bit of help and time can be all you need to be yet another fantastic part of this community.
