Best albums
Ah Sol Invictus ! While waiting for the new album, here are my top 5 albums :
1)Trees In Winter and The Killing Tide
2) Let Us prey
3) The Blade
5) King And Queen
4) In The rain
Sol Invictus...I do enjoy them quite a bit. Tony's music has always been more...stable...Than his contemporaries. By that, I mean that you pretty much know what a new Sol Invictus album will sound like. Can you say the same for C93, DiJ or Coil? I do like the direction the last 2 discs have taken and the addition of Sally Doherty. Her own releases are wonderful and she sounds just lovely...Ah yes, favorites:
Thrones
Let Us Prey
The Killing Tide (much moreso than Trees in Winter)
Hill of Crosses

Concerning this band I suppose yes we can recognize the sound jut hearing guitars and violin (great Matt !). But the two last albums (which are not in my toplist ) are very different I think than before : sound "jazzy" sometimes, less "european" !
Re: Best albums
You are right. Some tracks do take an almost jazzy turn. I think that they are still undeniably Sol Invictus in their sound, but both explore new territory for Tony. I was unsure when I first heard them, but they are favorites now and seem to me to fit right in. I'm hoping for something new soon.
