Bob update
HI Yall,

Just to update you, Bob had a good checkup this week. He still only sees a dark shape where the 20/400 E or B was for right eye, the transplant eye, but it comes and goes during day. The doc here said the scratch on the new cornea looked better. Vision was 20/40 in the left eye, with some of 20/30 with pinholes. It has reduced side vision, a lot, but enough he can use it to get around and do his work etc. It has been that way, the side vision since 2003, bc of optic nerves.

His pressures were a bit better in the right transplant eye, 12 I think and still about 8 to 10 in left, so they are good bc Dr. Foster wants them to stay low bc of the very damaged optic nerves.

He is happy bc he has a job to work on again. I am relieved bc it will also pay the back payments on the insurance, and that is so important to Bob getting his treatments too.

Halloween will be his birthday. Not sure if I will just ask a few people over or have the open house so that anyone from work or friends or family can stop by if they want. He does not like birthday attention, so we like it to be low key.

It was last Halloween for his Bday the little Bombay type kitten, who died in March, adopted us. We still feel like he is our little angel keeping watch over us. Sure was a gift as he brought us both great fun and love after the hurricane dislocated us from home to the condo he adopted us in. Buster was used to being the only cat so he was angry with us for adopting the kitten, but he was always real nice to the kitten. Buster started sitting on his bench outside after about 6 months after the kitten died. Same for his favorite chair. He had given them up to the kitten, so took him a long time to claim then again.

So all is well with Bob as far as we know right now. He is overdue for his colonoscopy, but no symptoms from the crohns disease. He has a heart issue, that was put on the clearance for his operation in July that has never been explained to me, and his doc here said it was an issue he has "had all along." So I need to follow up with that when there is time.

The rheumy checked Bob for any side effects of the Remicaid and talked about the letters he has received from Dr. Foster, and all went well on that check up. Bob is back down to 184 again, and he likes that better than the 200. His blood pressure was a bit low 100 over 68 as I recall, but gets higher at times. So overall he is well.

We are still overwhelmed with getting stuff out of the yard and garage and the boxes in the house from moving back, and they should now do the last room of the house in a week or two...so we will be recoved for most part from hurricane, tho still places in yard need work bc of left over areas damaged when tree roots removed.

I was just looking at the photos from after the hurricane and realize it is beginning to seem real to me now. Guess we just coped for over a year bf it seemed real. I have not moved several boxes of dishes etc home from my office bc I was waiting for hurricane season to get over and done with. Just not ready to unpack them during this season. They go in the china cabinet.

That is all going on here. Bob is a happy camper this weekend.

Re: Bob update
Daer Betti,

it's so good to hear from you. I' m really happy for Bob. I hope a bigger improvement will follow...good luck for the colonoscopy and the heart situation, which I hope won' t be very serious. I love cats too and Bombay cats are adorable. If you want to take a look at this album...you could see my cats. One died at the beginning of september because of a tumor and recently arrived two new cats...mother and daughter. I wish you and Bob the very best.

Take good care of yourselves!

Federica.

hi fede
Hi Fede,

Great Cats!!!

If you don't mind I will forward the link to my friend, a retired social worker, the one who just visited Italy with her fellow, and they may move there one day. Thinking about it anyway.

Keep us updated on how your visits are going and how you are doing. Yes those Bombays are great cats. I only learned of them after the little stray adopted us, and I went online to see what kind of cats have shiny black coats and lovely golden eyes and attach to people more like dogs than cats...just stole our hearts. Smart cat too.
