Breakfast with the twins.
Ellie rolled over with a groan as her alarm went off. She hit the snooze button as her eyes focused on the time. The red glowing numbers indicated 8 AM and she struggled to focus her thoughts enough to remember why she had set it in the first place. Then she had it… it was Thursday and she had lessons, not only that but she had told Darren she would meet him at the dinning hall in fifteen minutes for breakfast.

With a great effort she sat upright and turned the alarm off completely. Then she got up and went down the hall to the bathrooms. As usual she was not a pretty sight first thing in the morning. Her magenta hair was all tangled and standing up on her head and she still looked groggy from sleep. Well she would do something about her hair in the mirror in her room after brushing her teeth.

As she went through the rhythmic motions of running the toothbrush along her straight teeth she wondered how Aiden was coping with his second day of “mutant high”. She had really enjoyed her breakfast with the new student the day before and hoped to spend some more time with him in the future. But right now she was going to have to get a move on as at this rate she was going to be late for her meeting with her twin.

She rushed back to her room and rummaged around in the wardrobe until she found the items of clothing she wanted. A pair of cream cotton trousers, a strap top and a large woolly pulls over. They were exactly the kind of relaxed clothes she like best and cream had always complemented her unusual skin tone quite well. Then she grabbed a brush and set about taming the mess that was her hair. It had grown quite long so it took her a few minutes to get all the knots out and still it would not lie flat on the top of her head. So she threw it up in a messy pony tail and gathered the things she would need for lessons.

Once she had gathered everything she quickly left her room and headed down the corridor. She passed many familiar faces, people she knew and liked and people who she had often seen but never spoken to. There were of course also those that looked at her strangely, as if her skin colour and discoloured pupils were an illness. But she shrugged it off and continued towards the dinning hall with small hurried steps. She did not want to keep Darren waiting as he had seemed particularly upset the day before and she hoped to start today on a more cheerful note.

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
Music filled the dim lit room, the tunes for the most part had been ignored yet had done their job of waking Porter form his sleep. Not that it meant he felt like getting up and facing the day. The song was rather uplifting, yet had a negative effect on Darren as he sadly let the words rub him the wrong way. Sometimes it felt like the only reason he got out of bed was to meet up with his sister, if he didn’t know she’d come knocking at his door and dragging him out by the ear he’d most likely. Last time she found out he missed a morning class Ellie had cut towards the dorms between the break allowing people to move to their next class, using her key to his room she had gotten him up and out within 10 minutes and only a little late for the second class. He felt a little bad that she got ‘the look’ with him for arriving late but sometimes he didn’t understand why she went out of her way to make sure he did what was expected of him. It made him feel bad, as if he was some sort of burden for her, Ellie was his twin after all, not his mother, and technically he was older, granted it was under a minute but Porter still referred to himself as the elder brother.

To sleep some more and suffer his sister’s wrath, or get out of bed and start his day? Surprisingly enough it was actually a rather difficult question, though guilt helped nudge him towards commonsense and eventually the covers were tugged off and Porter got out of his bed with a reluctance that weighed heavy on his mind. A set of clothes lay scatted beside the bed, a habit of his to just strip down to his underwear and leave everything else on the floor by his bed. Usually his foster mother had the habit of cleaning his room while they were at school but living solely at the school meant there were no more ‘cleaning ladies’ and his room tended to clutter up quickly. At least there was a day within the span of two weeks in which he cleaned up, or at least tidied if nothing more, but he never seemed to have the motivation to bother putting much heart in it, or most other things really.

If there was one thing that was routine and trained in Porter, that was his showering times, the habit of waking up at four to sneak down to the showers and then have the privacy he preferred before returning to his bed around 5 and getting another two and half or three hours sleep. As a result his hair usually was untameable as it got wavy from drying all pressed up against the pillow. There was a sigh as he went about readying himself, sometimes his sister really did have a great control over his day, though Porter was sure she didn’t realize to the extent of it, sometimes he didn’t either but there were moments that proved she was there and willing to do her best to keep him on track. Though Porter was just as willing, or so he hoped, with Ellie, he knew he’d never be as involved with her day to day life unless it looked as if she really needed a push.

A white t-shirt was slipped out from the closet and pulled over his head, sitting nicely against his body’s tended to contours. Not that Porter went out of his way at every occasion though he did keep his fitness up in order to hold his own in any fights he may encounter, not that it always made him the winner but it did help out evening the playing fields often enough. Blue jeans were pulled off the floor by the chair, having accidentally slipped off after his careless toss of them the night before, his magenta hued legs wiggling into them and lifted them up about his waist. Strong fingers worked at zipping and buttoning them up while he moved over towards the table, reaching for a beanie he had thrown by the computer a few days previously and pulling the grey head gear over his hair. A lazy way to tame it but honestly Porter was never one to fuss so early in the morning, as he woke up or if he had something important occurring then that was a different matter, he’d make sure he was more presentable but in his groggy state he hardly cared to put in any heart with his appearance.

Another item was lifted from the desk before he made his way to the mirror, which was on the inside of his closet door. The image that looked back at him was, as always, an unpleasant one, it wasn’t the pearl eyes that put him off, or the tired disheartened look, it was instead of the polluted colour of his skin, the unnatural shade that drew more attention and comments than Porter was ever comfortable receiving. Quietly the item he had picked up was wrapped about his right wrist, a black band with a slender dark silver face, which had become something Porter felt he couldn’t live without, at least not happily, or more than remotely happy anyway. A press of the device and the image in the mirror changed, attractive blue iris’s peered back at him, peach toned skin and handsome sandy blond hair poked out from beneath the light grey beanie.

On the way to the door Porter picked up his folder and pencil case, always seeming to arrive to class with the bare minimal and yet still managing to remain on top of his work load, even if it looked as if he hardly focused in class and never seemed to put aside time for homework… He did, it was just usually at odd hours or when there was nothing else for him to do. Behind it all, there was an intelligence inside Darren, if he tried to put more pride into his work he’d definitely shine but he was so sloppy sometimes he’d finish an assignment and simply forget to bring it to class on the day it was due… after all, he never handed things in early, what was the point?

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
Ellie knew she was going to be late and she hurried down the grand staircase in the entrance hall before turning down the corridor that lead to the dinning hall. As she did she relived her breakfast with Aiden the previous day, he had been so understanding and yet she knew that he would only truly understand her situation after having met Darren. And that was one meeting she was not looking forward to. She doubted very much that her brother would approve of her new friend and she feared that Aiden might try and stick up for her and upset her brother even more. So she had come to the conclusion that she would keep the two of them apart for as long as possible, so that she could make the most of this new friendship before it got tainted by Darren’s bitterness like everything else in her life.

So she was planning a trip into town with Aiden, she was going to take him for one of those hot chocolates she had been hearing about, the ones that they made at Wired. She had to admit that she had been surprised to find out that Taylor had suddenly become part owner of an internet café in the Salem centre. It had happened quite suddenly and even though she did not know the electricity mutant all that well she couldn’t help but wonder how he had gotten everything organised in such a short time. Maybe she would ask next time she saw him.

She arrived at the entrance to the dinning hall and there was no sign of Darren anywhere. She should have guessed that he would be late. He was always late; she even wondered why she had bothered to rush to get here. Resigned to the fact that she was going to have to wait for him for a while she moved to one side of the doorway so as not to get in the way of students filtering in and out. She leant against the wall and watched the people come and go. She liked to try and read people and see if she could tell what they were thinking as they passed her.

Some would just walk past engrossed in their own conversations not caring about anything else. Some would glance her way and she could see recognition on their eyes, they did not Know her but they knew Of her. And most of those did not give her a second glance. Others however offered her a sympathetic smile one that showed that they had not only heard of her but also of her brother. And then there were those that stare openly often with disgust plastered on their faces. One boy left the dinning hall and looked her up and down before turning to his friends and whispering something along the lines of “what a waste”. She watched them go with indifference; she could do nothing to change their opinions or who she was. Besides there would have people she would have clashed with even had she been normal or that’s what she told herself.

She sighed. Were was he? It had only been five minutes but she really hated waiting around on her own. It just made her more conspicuous and all she really wanted now was a plate with some bacon and potato waffles.

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
As far as mornings went, Porter had been under the impression that this time he wasn’t so late as he could have been, perhaps that had been his downfall as he had dawdled down the hallways. Darren would always be a man of reflection, a daydreamer without the hope of fulfilling any of them, a pessimist with dreams. The calm stroll however was ceased the instant he turned the corner and spotted the easily recognizable skin tone of his sister, and regardless of Porter’s own feelings towards his own body, he never thought anything less of perfect when his sister was concerned, never once realizing how his own insecurities could reflect on the sibling. She was perfect though, she had her head on pretty straight and she didn’t seem as screwed up as he was. Not that it was always such a good thing, Porter felt himself to be the older brother and half the time she’d go all militant on him and give him a good booting whenever he wandered off the path, or even so much as glanced off in the wrong direction.

Impatience… seemed to run in the family, though Porter had his good and bad in that area, there were times where he could wait till the end of the world and there were times when every second dragged on like an eternity. Few managed to estimate how Porter would act at any given situation, but Ellie tended to be spot on freakishly so when it came to assessing how patient Porter would be at any given situation, even if Porter himself had no intention of leaning one way or another. It was strange really… the twins had their moments as well, times where they looked at each other and knew every fragment of thought and emotion running through their minds, and other times it would be a blank slate, unable to figure left from right with the other and while Porter disliked either extreme, he disdained the latter more.

"El," A rich male voice called out, the youthful texture which wove itself within the tones stealing away the mature sounds which one day will ring more clearly in Darren’s voice, as age alters more then just his appearance. "You look like you’re ready to eat the next one who walks in there." He teased smoothly, though his hands moved to slip his thumbs into his pockets, hinting at a restlessness as he avoiding letting his hands fiddle with whatever they could discover… usually his watch or some other item he happened to have on himself. Instead of just rushing into the crowded hall, Darren hovered nearby her, allowing her to take the lead so she could set the pace, he wasn’t much for the leader role and for some reason he always felt more awkward around his sister when he was wearing his holo-emitter, he wasn’t sure why, there wasn’t anything so obvious to him that he could pin it down… he wasn’t yet able to see how off putting it must be for his twin to watch how desperately her brother attempts at hiding from who he really was, who they were, the fact he was so ashamed of himself had to be displeasing for someone who was his twin, he just couldn’t see it… Darren was so focused on how much he hated himself that he never stopped to think how that may effect Ellie, not that he didn’t care, but he didn’t look at her and see the same faults, he didn’t see the same anger in her and he didn’t think what he found as a flaw would be the same for his twin.

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
When the familiar figure finally rounded the corner Eliza’s heart sank and she wondered why she had come at all. For not only was her brother his usual late self he was also his ashamed self, and to her dismay he was wearing his holo-emitter that made him look like a regular human. It made him look normal, it made him look different from her. But she should have known better than to expect anything else of the new Calvin Ferguson, the boy that was running from himself so fast that he had even changed his name. She looked at the dusty blond figure making its way towards her and steeled herself in order to keep the hurt and anger from her eyes. It would bring her nothing but grief to confront her brother on this matter and she did not want to see the blank look in those fake blue eyes as she tried to explain how much she hated him for hating himself.

She calmed herself and decided that no matter how much he annoyed her Darren was still her brother and the person she loved most in the world. And who knew maybe one day he would learn to live with who and what he was. So for now she just contented herself with being happy to see him and that he wasn’t as late as she feared he might be and most of all that he had not been around to hear that snide remark that had been made about her just minutes ago.

"El, you look like you’re ready to eat the next one who walks in there."

Eliza recognised her brother’s teasing attitude and retaliated smoothly.
“And that would be you.” She said without so much as a greeting, she didn’t need to say hello when it came to Darren as most of the time it felt as if they had not spent more than five minutes apart even if it had been days.

“Late again I see, though you made better time than usual. One of these days your gonna get here so late I’ll have wasted away. Come on then I need food”

She smiled at him and made her way into the busy cafeteria to join the cue of tired students that were desperately trying to pretend that they could just skip classes and go back to bed. She knew the type well enough as Darren was very prone to not getting out of bed at all some mornings and if she did not make sure he made it to classes she had no doubt that he would just sleep all the way though to midday. She had always liked mornings although she was not one to pass up a lie in if she could get one, but she did not mind getting up early. It somehow made the world brighter to get up early, which probably had something to do with being awake for more of the daylight hours.

“So anything interesting happen to you yesterday?”

Eliza felt a bit rude asking this of her brother for she knew that if he asked her the same question she would answer that nothing had happened. Which was a lie but she did not want Darren to know about Aiden… not yet.

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
“And that would be you.” A lop sided smirk formed on the youths features, though it was torn between being amused and unsure as to wondering if perhaps she was narky with him or not. Sometimes it was just as hard to read her as it other times when it seemed the most easiest thing in the world. As his sister continued Darren realized it must have been his delayed arrival that bugged her, but he didn’t see why, he was hardly late…. People were still eating afterall. “Late again I see, though you made better time than usual. One of these days your gonna get here so late I’ll have wasted away. Come on then I need food” She was skinny, but Darren didn’t take the comment at all seriously, he knew if she really wanted something she’d go and do it, at least in most situations. He loved her, but sometimes he didn’t get her… a more evened out smile came as Ellie turned to make her way into the main dinning hall, Porter following close behind.

“So anything interesting happen to you yesterday?” There seemed to be a very distinct expression and reaction with Porter when he was annoyed about some random event he was trying to forget that was more irritating to him then threatening. And that her reply he did the very actions he always did whenever he got into a scuffle with someone, he didn’t like talking about it coz he knew Eliza would disapprove of his constant run ins with the trouble making population of the school. The fact Darren was so obviously sensitive of how he looked made him easy prey to the other students. A shrug of his shoulders, thumbs slipping into his jean pockets, eyes peering off to one random student or another…it’s very expression screaming out ‘nothing out of the normal’. His hands retreated from his pockets as they stood in line, fingers seeming to examine the wrist band where the holo-emitter was, finding comfort and assurence in the knowledge that, for now, he shouldn’t be singled out of a crowd so easily. The thing Darren often didn’t think about… when he was with his sister, he left her alone, taking a mantle of ‘normality’ while she herself seemed to refuse to do such a thing. Darren always assumed it was because she was fine with it all, she was so strong, so able to look after herself… or perhaps she was just stubborn, Porter still found himself curiously wondering on the matter.

"…Well, there was also this one girl." Porter started, his very tone oozing with annoyance. "I think she’s insane, either way, she has issues. Screams at me for no reason, then basically broke down into tears, then she started mocking me, or hitting on me, one can not be sure." In Porter’s past, he’s tended to scorn any one who showed him attention, unless he was wearing hos holo-emitter, if a girl looked at him while he wasn’t, he just instantly assumed she was judging him and shut them out tightly. A few girlfriends were lost by his inability to face himself in the mirror. One of the four didn’t even know he was pink he had hid it so well from the new student that she was furious he kept it from her for two weeks. None of Darren’s girlfriends really lasted more then a couple of weeks, he shuts them out too much, almost completely, and the last one merely stared at Eliza in surprise and from that Porter never talked to her again, to the point she feels insulted now as he completely ignores her with an air of hositility. "How about you?"

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
Ewan had grudgingly woken up to the sound of thudding coming from the room next to him, he was yet to be assigned any team position and so was in regular dorms and his neighbour had obviously decided to do some kind of DIY or something that morning but he wasn’t to pleased about it. Now that he was eighteen he was taking a few subjects he had picked himself, Art, Media, Music and Theatre; he loved it all and had a slight flare for the dramatic artsy type that was needed when getting into an inspirational mode. Living with two fashion designers had done this to him, his parents being passionate about their work had rubbed off on him and so he had gone down the expressive route like them, although he was more into acting and music rather than designing.

The young Brit had hauled himself out of his bed, rubbing his eyes blearily, he had hoped for a bit of a lay in, his first class not until mid morning, and despite trying to sleep through the bangs his neighbour had been persistent and Ewan decided it would be best for him to go and grab some breakfast and maybe see who’s around even at this early hour. One thing Ewan most enjoyed about being at the institute was that he got to meet so many new people, most similar to his age and all so different. Living in Brighton had been similar, it was a large liberal town and he had fitted in perfectly, Xaviers was like a mini, but intense Brighton where he got to meet new and exciting people everyday. One guy he had seen had been bright yellow, another had had a long tail, and a young man with a large pair of feathered wings and unlike some of the other students who like him looked human for the most part, he didn’t look at then and snigger, he wanted to meet them, get to know them.

Ewan had taken a quick shower to freshen up before going down to the dining hall, he liked to stay presentable, it was something he had always been taught, first impressions counted and he wanted to look clean, well dressed and approachable. “You need to be smart and clean Ewan,” His mother would say as she dressed him as a child, and later groomed him as a teen, “First impressions mean everything.” He pulled on a pair of ripped and patched jeans and a brown t-shirt, ran a comb through his straight brown hair and pulled a beanie onto his head. He grabbed a pair of suede trainers and was set, grinning at himself in the mirror, shifting his vision to check his aura, a bright rainbow of colours coming from his centre outwards, shadowed by a similar colour across his edges, smiling again, he shifted back to normal sight and left the room.

He had seen a few people he knew on his way down to the dining hallway, including a couple of girls who seemed to giggle when he said hi to them, which made him grin. Most of the corridor traffic was going the same way as him, flowing towards the hall, most students and teachers wanting to grab something before classes started, Ewan was suddenly quite relieved that he had a good few hours before his music class. As he reached the hall he saw a bright coloured girl waiting by the doorway, her magenta hair catching his eyes instantly, he didn’t need to switch his view to know she was a confident young woman. As he got closer she met with a guy who looked similar to her and they entered, Ewan was close behind and as he went to join the queue he tried not to eavesdrop on their conversation, it was rude and Ewan hated people who where rude.

He stood pretty close to him as a couple of younger kids stood behind him and started to shove each other, eager for some food, Ewan tried to move out of the way but it was to late as the younger boy pushed his friend against Ewan and he got knocked into the magenta woman ahead of him, he reached out to steady himself a little and looked at her and then the guy she was with, smiling a little embarrassed; “Woah, sorry.” He said his accent clear, he turned and gave a reproachful look at the two boys who seemed to have suddenly calmed down before turning back to the pair ahead of him and trying to give them a reassuringly sincere smile, the young womans features much softer than the mans. Great first impression! He thought.

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
Eliza did not even have to wait for Darren to answer her question before she could tell that something had happened the day before that had annoyed him. Something that he knew she would probably not approve and therefore his reply was a little delayed while he thought of the best way to tell her about whatever it was.

"…Well, there was also this one girl."

A girl? Ellie raised an eyebrow, as when it came to her brother girls were usually bad news. For either they were strong and confident like Madison or Frost and that meant that they easily rubbed her Darren up the wrong way or whoever she was was cute and her brother had a crush on her. Porter did not often find a girl worthy of his interest but when it did happen either it was smooth sailing or else he managed to weird them out with his defensive attitude. So in the end which ever of the two type’s girls never really brought out her brothers good side.

"I think she’s insane, either way, she has issues. Screams at me for no reason, then basically broke down into tears, then she started mocking me, or hitting on me, one can not be sure."

Eliza listened quietly as her brother told his no doubt very biased version of events. She did not bother to interrupt or ask what had actually happened to make this “unstable” girl so upset at him, for she knew that he had probably been the instigator of the incident but would rather not have to own up to it. There seemed to be no way for her to make her brother understand that he brought most of the hostile glances upon himself with his less than pleasant bed side manner. So she just humoured him by agreeing with him from time to time and trying no to look to disapproving the rest of the time. Today she decided to humour him and just said nothing while smiling slightly to show that she was not mad at him.

"How about you?"

Now there was a question she did not want to answer and by some strange turn of fate she was saved from it by the rather annoying group of kids stood not far behind them in the queue. It seemed that the rather boisterous bunch had taken to jostling each other for fun and in their enthusiasm managed to knock the guy standing behind her right into her. She took a step or so forward with her arms outstretched to steady herself again before catching her balance again. She knew that if she had been in any real risk of falling her brother would have been there instantly, but now she figured that Darren was probably building himself up to killing the poor soul that had unwittingly saved her.

“Woah, sorry.”

The newcomer’s accent spoke volumes, firstly he was not originally from around here and secondly she had definitely never met him before or she would have remembered. She caught the reproachful look he shot the kids stood behind them and gathered that he was trying to explain that he had not intentionally jostled her. She decided that she better say something anything … before Darren started to take this guy apart for daring to touch his precious sister.

"Don't worry about it, I'm fine."

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
Commotion rang about them as Porter waited for his sister’s reply, a rather obtrusive body seemed to however cut into their conversation and between getting ready to shove that particular body for having knocked into his sister and altering his course to reach towards his twin, it seemed like the said body had already amended his daring assault and was helping steady Eliza. Somehow slapping his hands off her seemed less manly then he’d wish for and so Porter contented himself with a frown and a glare at the younger kids behind the projectile they had used on his sister… who cares if said weapon was actually an innocent bystander.

“Woah, sorry.” Right, ‘oops, sorry, didn’t mean to grope you!’ likely story, one Porter would cheerfully returned ‘yes, oops sorry, didn’t mean to knock you back into that other hell dimension, my bad’. Eyes narrowed slightly as lips began to part, though Ellie cut in and Porter found himself being tugged back on the unseen leash she sometimes had around him, intentionally or not… and more often then not it was usually for Porter’s own good.

"Don't worry about it, I'm fine." A carefully defined frown seemed to leave a noticeable impression on Porter’s holographically altered features, though his deep blue eyes turned towards the youthful group behind the klutz who obviously didn’t have the power of balance as a mutant ability. Each face was taken in, his look rather intimidating and one of the youths actually noticed the prolonged stare and while he looked put off the kid tried to act tough about it by smiling and quickly waving off a ‘sorry’ quickly though the group hardly looked as if they were apologetic for their actions. A strong arm seemed to slip between Ellie and the other, almost like a parent ushering away their child from a drunkard or the like.

"Yes, she’s fine, after you coincidentally fell into the only girl within your grasping distance." Porter’s back was already to the other student as he started speaking, looking as if he was trying to break up the meeting by keeping between the guy and his sister, his tone of voice was definitely less then approving… one could probably guess within a few meetings of Porter that Ellie would tend to hesitate introducing him to any would be boyfriends.

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
Ewan noticed a look in the girls eyes as he spoke, a look he had come to see in a lot of people when he met them for the first time as they noticed his differing accent. At first he was a little embarrassed by it, but he had come to think of it as another talking point, everyone liked an exchange student, and it was always interesting when he would confuse people with his Brit terminology.

"Don't worry about it, I'm fine”

She spoke with a genuine tone, Ewan smiled as he took a respectful step back to show he was fully aware he was a little to much into what he would consider her personal space. He momentarily found himself lost for words, he didn’t usually introduce himself by grabbing someone as a balance aid and so he didn’t really no what to say to the girl ahead of him; which was rare. Before he could say anything though the guy she was with, who looked similar to her but without the striking skin tone, spoke out.

"Yes, she’s fine, after you coincidentally fell into the only girl within your grasping distance."

Ewan was a little shocked at how rude the guy was being as he turned his back on him steering the girl with him, for a moment he shifted his sight type and he wasn’t surprised to see that despite this guys confident output inside his aura was much duller inside, he was hiding something, but that didn’t concern Ewan, what concerned him more was that this guy had already made a judgment on him and he didn’t like the way it looked. Ewan was the kind of guy that if he wasn’t liked he wanted to know why; but this always had to balance with making himself look worse or becoming annoying.

The girl however was as bright with his confidence sight as she was to everyone else, which did interest him, most of the mutants at Xaviers who were physically changed by their mutation would hide it if they could, or their self confidence would take a bash from it, especially the younger kids who were still adjusting to what they were. The girl glowed from the inside out and he was impressed by it.

“I’m Ewan by the way, and honestly I am sorry, I didn’t mean to cause any offense.” He said giving them a half wave even though they were turned away from him now. He thought he had more chance of getting through to the girl as she seemed a little easier to talk to, plus the guy obviously thought that Ewan was trying to hit on her and that was definitely not on his mind at the moment he was barged into her, he didn’t have a chance, he was more worried about falling on his face in the middle of the dining hall.

Ewan was yet to make any proper friends and he didn’t think throwing himself on the ground at peak dining hours would do him any favors. He had been at the school for just over three months now and he was liked by a few people but was yet to actually gain any proper friends, he just hoped it wouldn’t be much longer, all his friends across the atlantic he was, for the first time in his lafe, starting to feel a little lonely, and he could feel his self confidence taking a bash from it.

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
As expected it took almost no time at all for Darren, to get into defensive mode and Ellie had to refrain from rolling her eyes as her brother shot looks filled with murderous intent to anyone who was paying event a semblance of attention. She knew that once he was in one of these moods it would probably last all day, which was a pain, as he would probably guard her closely and make sure to keep anyone from getting close enough to her to dare jostle her again.

She looked up at him as he quite deliberately and rudely placed himself between her and the British boy and for the first time she actually wondered what the two of them looked like to strangers. Did they know that they were siblings? Probably not as Darren almost always wore his holoemitter now a days, so people would most likely think that they were cousins or close friends. Or maybe even, on a more disturbing note, a couple… She quickly got rid of the very disturbing mental image that had just formed in her mind and once again paid attention to her brother’s anti-social comments.

"Yes, she’s fine, after you coincidentally fell into the only girl within your grasping distance."

Ellie sighed quietly. No wonder she did not have that many friends… she had a hard enough time putting up with Darren at times and she was related to him. She wondered if things would have been different had they been raised by their biological parents. Would she have been the rebel and Darren the sensible one, or was it always fated to be this way? Somehow she was sure that if their mother, from whom they had inherited their colouring, had been an X-men Darren would have taken a very different view on his unusual skin tone. But she would never know so there was no point in dwelling on it. Instead she just resigned herself to the fact that her brother would probably alienate every second person she ever met.

“I’m Ewan by the way, and honestly I am sorry, I didn’t mean to cause any offense.”

The sound of the youth’s voice made Ellie turn her eyes in his direction. She did not dare turn around completely as the last thing she wanted was for her brother to make a scene because she was being overly nice to a guy that had “groped” her in front of everyone. So instead she offered the other boy a ghost of a smile from over her shoulder. She would have winked to signal that she understood but in her eyes, winking came across as kind of creepy rather than anything else so she had to be content with the small smile.

Re: Breakfast with the twins.
The male twin kept his hand on Eliza’s back, drawn from a moments memory of a few years ago, random in its entirety, the twins in the kitchen, a knife cutting into Darren’s palm as he cut an apple… The blade sliding through the core and striking his flesh deep, and one of the unusual habits Ellie’s twin had for as long as most remember, when hurt Porter tended to freeze up and bottle his yelp of pains for a quiet moment till they spilled out in a drawn out groan. Which usually meant that it took a few moments for people around Porter to realize he was hurt, and his lack of concern over his injuries usually meant he’d limp around and half the time people weren’t sure why… save for the fact it had to have been yet another fight.

“I’m Ewan by the way, and honestly I am sorry, I didn’t mean to cause any offense.” There were three ways people most commonly reacted Darren’s personality… people either retaliated, ignored or apologized uncertainly. Not all retaliations were hostile, some people actually liked Darren for his mannerism… yet those were few and far between and more often because those too had similar personalities that clicked. This one appeared to be an apologiser and Darren didn’t really respond to them very well, he preferred people showing a back bone instead of grovelling apologetically.

Fake blue eyes blinked away the memory of his sister wrapping a towel about his palm, drawn back to the present as they lined up and waited idly for their chance to grab up some food. Sometimes Porter felt that Ellie was too light on people, letting them push her around and get away with things, already he could see her looking back at the guy and Porter didn’t get it. Did she like him? The creep grabs at her and she didn’t look put off by it, it didn’t really occur to Porter that it was his own anger and distrust that distorted how he saw things and he hadn’t yet realized how negative an out look he had and how destructive it was for his sister’s social life. Being told things like he was being too pushy might not make miracles happen but Darren did love his twin, he would at least try to better abide by his sisters wishes, he never meant to hurt her and it would crush him to learn how often he actually managed to do so without realizing it.

Pearl eyes turned back to look over his shoulder and stare at Ewan, there wasn’t really anything Porter felt worth replying to in the others statement and so Porter looked away again, at least making the effort to shy he wasn’t ignoring the apology, still, he wasn’t going to bow down gratefully just because it was given.

"El," There was more tenderness to his tone compared to when he talked with Ewan and the kindness hinted at the two’s close relationship. "Why don’t you go find a place to sit, I’ll bring your food, no need for both of us to line up," It would be just their luck that they’d get their food and then there wouldn’t be any place for them to sit!

(lol… sorry Will…not really the setting to get Porter all talkative and interactive xD
Perhaps if they’re all sit at a table together… Ewan and Ellie can talk and Porter will sit and be pretty! :D )
