Cave Mouth and Underground Caverns - Calm before the Rayne
AISHA
Aisha impatiently brushed back her braided dark hair and entered the main section of the cave which had become the home of her and a small group of others.

Prometheus was trained to hear any sound and turned immedietly to look over at her. His expression was the question and after a few years together she knew what he was thinking without even asking.

"I'm sorry," she offered. "I tried, I really did but they got to him first."

He only nodded, controlling his emotions just like he had taught her to do. His face was a mask and if she had been anyone else she wouldn't have known what he was thinking but they understood eachother.

"It wasn't your fault you know. If it's anyone's fault it's mine. I couldn't get to him in time and once I did my powers couldn't help. I'm not ready you should of sent someone else," Aisha finished, feeling more than a little guilty for not being able to save the boy from his vampiric captors.

"You did all you could. You were ready, are ready. It's just this one. They'll be others," Prometheus answered and he sounded older, tired.

"They'll be others. Is that all you can say? Sure there will but what about this one? Isn't he still important 'cause I thought everyone mattered. Wasn't that what you told me earlier Dri?" Aisha asked, fiery anger starting to build in her heart and tone.

"Rayne one life in the grand steam of things isn't as important as the overall total of lives. We've saved others. What's one person?" Prometheus replied, his tone too rising and a coldness in his words.

Aisha noticed he'd used her codename and not her real name, a sign that he wasn't quite happy with her. Just as coldly as he had she replied, "Prometheus not everything is about the resistance. Some things are about people, individuals. Maybe you've forgotten that."

Prometheus almost jumped as thunder crashed and lightning lit the outside of the cave. Rain began to pour and Rayne herself turned from him. "We'll talk when you feel more human," she said angrily and stalked out into the storm that her emotions had created.

There was no point in going after her, especially when a confrontation would only make the thunder louder and the rain pour harder and longer. He sat and watched as she disappeared in the distance, a slight fog rising around her in a mysterious way.

PROMETHEUS
"D*** it all," Prometheus swore as she disappeared. He couldn't very well go after her right now and he had a strange feeling she would be needed soon. His intuition was rarely wrong and sure enough it was only a few moments before he felt the familiar blurriness as colours of that rainbow flashed through his head and a picture began to form.

Prometheus stumbled over to the bed and just had time to lie down before the full rush started.

**Flash**

A girl with reddish hair being comforted by a tall, lanky man.
In front of them, protectively stood a girl he recognized as the slayer.

They'd met once or twice and although explosions took place between them they fought on the same team and he liked to think there was mutual respect there.

A flash of tombstones told them this was taking place at a cemmetary and as he saw a storm closing in he knew, just knew somehow, that this was happening now.

If only it didn't take so long to recover from these visions he would go himself. Normally he would have sent Rayne to stay a distance away and inspect, see if everyone was alright and if there were any potentials to recruit. He'd have to get there somehow.

The flashes continued though, the images going by faster and faster. He focused and felt a common emotion between the girl and two men, that of not belonging. Prometheus realized with a start that they were not from here and since he had seen no markings and felt their fear he could only assume that they hadn't come from this world either.

Shock took him over but blackness closed in as the images swirled so that he could no longer pick them apart. The last thing he remembered was being glad that there was a bed beneath him as he slipped into unconsiousness, hoping that Rayne's personal connection with him had felt or heard his cry for her.

His mouth was open but no sound came from it as he cried Rayne's name then knew no more.
