Chat
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some of our old time members miss chatting and I thought I'd ask if anyone wants to set up a date and time to renew old banter from the past. I know I miss it.
so, tell us if you'd like to get a scheduled chat going here at the site.
Hi Mike,
As soon as I am done at the hospital this week maybe some of us could chat. That would be really fun even it it were for a little while. Hope your sugar is holding up!!
Ronni
I started the insulin last night. I have to check glucose level before breakfast. I was apprehensive about giving myself a shot but I didn't feel anything. guess I'm a big baby........
also got my shingles vaccination yesterday and the flu vaccine is now available so I have to get it next week.
Re: Chat
Oh Mike
I would do anything to have been able to get the shingles vaccine. I dont know if you remember but I am always getting shingles. It is not one of my favorite things!!!
I know you will do just fine on insulin--with your research abilities and knowledge you will know just how to handle it. Lets see if we can anyone else to chat soon.
Ronni
Re: Chat
email Gae and some of the 'old gang' and see if they will join in.
I had a really bad case of chicken pox as a child. it got in my eyes. all of the childhood stuff really hit me hard. I had the mumps twice too. measles etc as well. no vaccines when I was little except for the Polio vaccine in the mid fifties.
I had my tonsils out at 18. was hospitalized for bleeding for three days afterwards. I remember not eating for about 3 weeks or so. my girlfriend at the time worked at a burger joint and I would go and pick her up after work. the aroma of the burgers and fries would drive me nuts. I cold only eat cold liquids without any acid or salt. Ice cream even hurt for the first couple of weeks or so.
Re: Chat
Hi Mike,
Sounds like we REALLY need to try and do chat again, don't you think? We could certainly give it a go and see who feels like joining in. EVERYONE is welcome! As long as we set up a day and time, those who want to can join us. I'm busy Thurs. evenings only...
Saw Dr. Foster today and all looks well. Got my Zenapax infusion and back in a month.....
won't be able to join you this week, but hopefully a different time.
mike, bob and i both got the flu shots, last year my doc gave me the shingles shot, but i thought i had read somewhere the bob cannot take it, is it a live virus or something? Do I remember wrong?? Can you take it if on immunosuppressants. We have both had the pneumonia shot too. Bob's a couple years ago and mine last year or the year before..don't remember for sure.
I meant to ask his doc about the shingles shot, but I thought I had read somewhere something that indicated he cannot take it.
hope you all have fun at chat. i used to have trouble keeping up with you all bc you all are fast chatters.
Re: hi yall
hi Gae,
Glad to hear everything is o.k right now in your corner. Maybe I will give you a call and see if we can set up a good time to chat.
Mike you poor child. What alot to put up with as a child. Yes I take 500mg. of valtrex every day but sometimes I still break through.
Betti, I am not sure about Bob and vaccine. I know if you have had shingles already it wont work but you may be right about the live vaccine thing..
Lets keep organizing the chat

Re: hi yall
I don't know if it is a a weakened strain or if it is dead.
I am not on IMT but I do have a weakend immune system from the diabetes. so far no rash.
sorry you break through while on the Valtrex (anti viral med for those not in the know).
My brother in law got in in the face and eye. VERY painful stuff. (now decessed from heart attack while riding his Motorcycle)
set up a time and I will try to be there. I have two soccer games on sat and sunday afternoons. so evening my time (after 6 would work here, after 9PM your time.
look forward to this chat. Maybe we should continue this discussion in the FRIENDSHIP forum?
Re: hi yall
the east coast of teh usa is GMT minus 5 hours and I think you are GMT plus 1 in Italy if things are the same as when I lived there back in the dark ages before the internet and airbus industries. so if we chat at 9 EST that would make it
3AM in Italy.
Yes...some things never change...so it' s like old times. 3 am should do it! I' ll set the alarm clock and wake uo to join the chat. That would be very very nice! Thanks for calculating the time differences.
Re: Chat
Ronni,
I'm still in crisis mode around here....lots of stuff going on. Amy and myself. I had to have my ongoing rash biopsied last Friday. We may be looking for a connective tissue disease/disorder. Big surprise?? I also was diagnosed with a stress fracture in my surgical foot today, along with a possible infection on the incision. He didn't want to remove my stitches for another week (will be 3 weeks) and put me on an antibiotic. My bursitis is acting up in my shoulder and I cannot move my arm very far. I got an injection in July and felt well until now. I may have to break down and get some physical therapy. One more thing to fill up my schedule! Anyway...you get the picture!!
I did see Dr. Foster last week and my eyes look fantastic...Yeah! I got to meet "Dr. Stephanie" finally...such a nice person. Too bad we didn't get much time to chat though...we were both busy with blood work and I with an infusion and testing. By the time I came back out she must have been done.
Well, I will let you know when things finally ease up around here. I hope VERY soon...so stressful to have to deal with it all. Sorry to vent so much...it's been a rough week. I know your situation is not much better than mine.
If you get a chance to have some wine...please give a toast in my direction!
Re: Chat

Ronni
