Children's Perceptions
When my daughter was about a year and a half, she had her first invisible friend. Unusual I've been told for that age. *shrugs* Ocassionally "Joe" as she called him would get stuck in a tree or such and we had to go back and wait till he climbed back down. We thought is was cute! yet a lil annoying, of course.
(We have always had our items get up and disapear and reappear other places but this is a lil different.) Soon "Joe" was a doggy, to my daughter. And we had to cats, who became skittish, refusing to go near places my daughter said "Joe" was playing at. And one vivid thing happened: My daughter told me "Joe" was in the kitchen where I was making a fresh batch of candles. My candle thermometer was siting safely on the counter top and as walked into the kitchen, it was knocked to the floor were it shattered. A Wiccan friend of mine, listened to the story and said perhaps a big happy dog's tail could have knocked it down. :P
A few months later "Joe" was fading from my lil ones mind and we began seeing a shadow cat, who likes to this day to run between our feet.
Another thing involving my daughter, has been with our entertainment center. It is probally as tall as I am at 5'5", with our VCR and DVD players near the top.
Numerous times when my daughter would get pissed over some lil thing and the TV was on, the VCR will just start playing whatever is in it at the time. Always her tapes, so it works out but it is very puzzling.
And of course my youngest sees and is entertained by something only she can see. Funny thing being is some believed that she is surrounded by an old male energy.
Personally if anyone was to be "watching over" my lil ones I would believe it to be my mother who passed away when I was little.

Re: Children's Perceptions
Thats a very interesting story, and I wish I knew what she is seeing, Children are more tuned in to the spiritual world and once they get older there minds grow becoming distant from it. I would have asked her tons of questions like what the spirit wore?, what kind of dog? ect... Are you still living in this home now? if so taking pictures isnt a bad idea to start.

Children's Perceptions
Interesting and I am not doubting your little one's "perceptions," however, I know I used to play with little "imaginary friends" when I was a small child also. I am an only child and I had to make up friends to play with before I started school. I think it is natural for children to do so.

Re: Children's Perceptions
We are still livin at the same place, if I come across some of our pictures that look a lil odd. I'll post them for everyone but most I can't post as my eldest will be three this month and has been a nudist since potty training. lol
Halloweeny, growing up I also had at least one imaginary friend, but being who and how I am......
I know she will have many imaginary friends in her young life and I look forward to each (admitably annoying at times) such experience.

Currently we are doing the invisible teaparty and food thing! lol

Hello LadyForest .
Has you little girl ever described her friends? Other than it is a dog type thing? Normally children as young as 1.5 do not have imaginery friends,There minds are not developed enough at that age to imagine things.I look forward to seeing your pics.

It's good that your children are not afraid of their "friends". There is another poster here whose child is afraid of the presence.
I agree that you should take some pictures. Maybe ask your child if you can take a picture of her with her friend?
Sometimes I do this:

Re: Children's Perceptions
Sorry was a way for a lil while, I have two lil ones and my youngest was under the weather. Being as she is only 4 months I get worried when she feels icky.
I actually have some images of my eldest and whitish image blur look. But it's been a lil while since she's talked about her invisible friend "Joe" or any other. Since her sister was born shes been preoccupied in being a brat and a love bird. lol
When I do come across them I will post them. My father-in-law is planning on buying us a digital camera, (he lives across the states from us) so he can get pics of the girls just about daily. At this point I will have no problem sharin them with everyone.

Re: Children's Perceptions
I tend to think that children are far more perceptive than a lot of aults. I have four children and the youngest is 16 months. My fiancee(his daddy) heard him babbling in his bed one day and he went in to check on him. My son was standing up and talking to what appeared to be simply a closet door. He pointed at the door and said "Gimba" Well a couple of weeks later, the little one saw a picture of my beloved with his father, who passed away when Pete was 17, and the baby picked it up and started repeating Gimba, gimba...apparently, he was talking to his grandpa.
I personally am very perceptive, and I have been since I was very young. My mother died 23 years ago, and she is still here. All three of my older kids, (14, 10 and 5) have seen her and heard her singing in the middle of the night, and several people besides myself have seen her wandering the hallway between the bedrooms, and the living room, and these are people who never met or saw pictures of my mother.

Re: Children's Perceptions
You know, it's funny how things just kinda pan out. I was coming here tonight to share the story of my 3-yr-old daughter and the "lady in the kitchen."
Like everyone else, I believe that children live a little closer to the veil than the rest of us and are able to sense more because of that. I also think that our loved ones who have passed on know that the little ones are more at risk because of their sensitivities and come back to protect & watch over them.
I loved reading about your child's friend -- may she always encounter spirts that watch over her with kindness.
As for the lady in the kitchen... I'll post it later. There's a certain little boy who needs a fresh dipe and a soft pillow.
