Claire Voyance | Crystal Lillian Fury | Miasma EnigmaName: Claire Voyant Nickname/s: Seer. Ghost. ‘Ghosty’ as a pet name at times. Spirit-Child. Code Name: Phantasm. But she doesn’t use it, preferring ‘Seer’ that her friends call her. Affiliation: Neutral. Legal Status: Registered Mutant. No Criminal Records. Records are Classified with low level security. Occupation: Adventurer. Mischief-maker. Race: Genetically Perfected Sub Species of the Mutant Lineage named ‘Mantra’. Place of Birth: Agamemnon (Corporation) Testing Facility – Based in Sleepy Hollow, one of the three villages of Mount Pleasant in Westchester County. Marital Status: Single. Gender: Female Age: 25 Birthday: September 12 Hair: Red hair just about her shoulders. Eyes: Two, Brown. Height: 5' 7" Weight: 45kg.
Other Physical Details: At first glance Claire can seem completely normal, especially compared to her friends who bare the tribal like markings on their features, however as they often say, and is commonly the case with mutants, appearances can be deceiving. Attractive and full of a friendly, yet troublesome personality, Claire tends to make friends fast, her eager and open personality however can at times seem a little wild and the spark of mischief in her eyes probably causes the quieter types to shy away from her.
Always carrying herself with pride and elegant poise, Claire never takes an insult and would always be sure to give others their just rewards.
Mother: Tabitha Doyle / Human / Made Up Father: Timothy Doyle / Human / Made Up Other Important Relatives: Seer considers Crystal and Miasma as her sisters.
Personality:
Bright and eager at times, she loves to be in the heart of matters and doesn’t take fondly to being left out of the loop. A popular girl by nature, she adores friends and thrives off social activities, even if she doesn’t know most of the people around her, as long as there is some form of amusing entertainment to keep her delighted.
Claire doesn’t often lie and that can sometimes give her a hard time, because she’ll try and be honest no matter what, even though she can attempt to be as polite as possible some people don’t do well hearing anything by a sugar coated lie in response to a few things. As far as Claire is concerned if they wanted her opinion then they ought to expect an honest one, otherwise what’s the point of asking if you don’t want to know the truth?
Claire clicks with everyone she meets as long as they aren’t rude, often she’ll like someone and at times that other person may find her hard to have around at all times, especially if the person is shy and quiet, the opposite of Claire. Personally Claire isn’t too bothered, she understands about personality clashes but she still doesn’t want that to get in the way of her making friends with people. Much like Crystal, Claire can hold a grudge, though not as hostile as the gem powered mutant, it is possible to win her affections if you go about making up for the wrong done. Her favourite habit is that of sarcasm.
Likes:
Sarcasm and humour. Glittery things. Jewellery, especially necklaces. Often expensive dresses and clothing. Friends. Outings.
Dislikes:
Arguments. Rude behaviour. Anti-mutant believers and bigotry of any kind. Being left out of special or important things… or anything for that matter.
Powers:
Poltergeist:
Claire Voyant is a mutant ghost as her natural state. She’s unable to touch, move, feel, or be felt. Able to phase through things and yet look as if she is walking along the ground, taking a seat, and affected by gravity, while this is in fact the case, as she doesn’t unwillingly hover around, she is also able to become weightless and drift as if she was flying. She has trained her abilities over her 25 years in this state, allowing her to become ‘real’ for at this point in time a little over one hour. Usually for short moments Claire solidifies a part of herself to enable her to interact with her environment, such as moving items, etc. Her strength is that of an average woman, she isn’t weaker or stronger, so if she solidifies her hands she can push, hold, carry, whatever a woman of her build usually could manage.
Claire doesn’t need to sustain her body in the usual way, like people eating and drinking to keep themselves alive, Claire instead just has to be around other people, the life they radiate energizes her, as long as there are people and life in the world, Claire can replenish her energies. This doesn’t mean she has no need for sleep, Claire requires the same amount of rest as any other person… although she enjoys her late morning sleep-ins!
She can become invisible as she wishes, but this takes effort, additionally she must hold her breath and concentrate at the same time, needless to say, she doesn’t take delight in preforming this trick but considers it a neat ability nevertheless! If she wishes, she usually takes the easy road and becomes ‘see through’, by calming her breaths and attempting to clear her mind from stress. Although this is less of a strain, it doesn’t help her when she’s up in a panic, since she’s too stressed. Name: Crystal Lillian Fury Nickname/s: Gem. Code Name: Gemstone. Affiliation: Neutral. Legal Status: Registered Mutant. No Criminal Records. Records are Classified with low level security. Occupation: Adventurer. Race: Genetically Perfected Sub Species of the Mutant Lineage named ‘Merchandiser'. Place of Birth: Agamemnon (Corporation) Testing Facility – Based in Sleepy Hollow, one of the three villages of Mount Pleasant in Westchester County. Marital Status: Single. Gender: Female Age: 24 Birthday: April 1 Hair: Brown hair just past her shoulder, has some braids neatly spanned over her head. Eyes: Two, Soft Dark Chocolate brown pools. Height: 5”7 Weight: 49kg.
Other Physical Details: Average in appearance save for the black markings on her face and down her back, also on the sides of her thighs and shoulders, at times she may seem more wild then she really is, especially since Gem usually destroys her clothing fairly easily and doesn’t mind wandering around in tattered remanence of what they used to be. Slender, her diet at the moment is unhealthy, lacking most of the vital food groups save for the occasional bread or left over meat on tossed away bones, resulting in her being desperately thin and weak.
Mother: Samantha Howard / Human / Made Up Father: Paul Johnson Howard / Human / Made Up
Other Important Relatives: Younger Sister: Mary Kate Howard / Human / Made Up Older Brother: John Simon Howard / Human / Made Up
Personality:
She’s stronger then she may appear at first glance considering she gives a rather timid meek masqurade at times, though she can swing the opposite way and seem wild and dangerous, really it’s up to her mood and it’s hard to tell how she’ll react to things. Gem isn’t insecure about herself, much like all the mutants of the Hollow, she therefore isn’t afraid of making a complete fool of herself, though admittedly she wouldn’t be aware she’d be doing it at the time.
Unlike Mai, Crystal is curious and eager to learn and interact with people, males in particular gain her utmost attention on the simple fact she’s never talked with a male before and is eager to make new friends. Woman of ‘high class’ also obtain her focused attention, the ones who wear those tight fitting dresses and closes and carry themselves with an air of elegance. Sometimes it’s hard to tell how Gemstone is feeling, due to her often neutral expression it gives her the false appearance of being a serious and down to earth individual.
Likes:
People. More importantly friendly ones of course, she’s one to hold a grudge so first impressions mean a lot to her and she usually prefers the more playful type of people. Animals.
Dislikes:
Loud noises and yelling. Death and seeing dead animals.
Powers:
Crystallization:
As her name may suggest, her powers involve that of the precious minerals people often adorn their bodies with. Able to produce valued stones, any sort, ruby’s, sapphires and diamonds, she can create, mould, shape, grow or shatter the mineral resource she produces. However potentially dangerous her powers can be (such as completely encasing her opponent and suffocating them) Gem is scared of killing someone, and so uses her abilities in defence or to threaten others off. Often she creates throwing spikes, or makeshift daggers, shields or encases someone’s hands or legs with her ability. Name: (Formally Mia Jones) Miasma Enigma Nickname/s: Mia. Lady Enigma. The Enigmatic One. Mistress of Machines. Cyber. Mechanite. Code Name: Affiliation: Neutral. Legal Status: Registered Mutant. No Criminal Records. Records are Classified with low level security. Occupation: Adventurer. Race: Genetically Perfected Sub Species of the Mutant Lineage named ‘Mechanite’. Place of Birth: Agamemnon (Corporation) Testing Facility – Based in Sleepy Hollow, one of the three villages of Mount Pleasant in Westchester County. Marital Status: Single. Gender: Female Age: 27 Birthday: April 25 Hair: Short and Purple in colour. Eyes: Two, Dark Purple in colour. Height: 5”11 Weight: 47kg.
Other Physical Details: All of Mia’s features are of vary violet hue save for the white iris of her eyes. She’s slender, fit, and bares natural markings on her face that set her apart even further then her odd skin tone. Unashamed of her oddities, Mia enjoys wearing tight fitting and flesh flaunting clothing (of sensible style, she wouldn’t run around in winter wearing a bikini…unless it was an indoor pool!)
Mother: Jessica Andrea Jones / Human / Made Up Father: Edward John Alloyd / Human / Made Up Other Important Relatives: Brother: Joseph Tyler Jones / Human / Made Up
Personality:
The most serious of the three, Mia tends to take responsibility for her ‘siblings’ actions, most commonly that’s the mischief Claire gets up to, Mia is somewhat overly protective towards Crystal and yet doesn’t outwardly show her affections at all times. There’s a friendly respectful nature within her, but Mia prefers keeping to herself and enjoys the company of those who need not speak and yet their presence seems dominating in a room or area. Protective and somewhat motherly, Mia doesn’t restrict her nature only to Claire and Crystal, her attitude can often encompass complete strangers, generally if they are young but more importantly if they are in need of help.
Likes:
Being useful. The Hollow. Watching out for others. Physical combat.
Dislikes:
Bigotry and not being able to voice her opinions.
Powers:
Cyber-Kinesis:
Taking control over machines to a degree one could say she ‘possesses’ the machines under her control. Able to take control over any and all machines, even cybernetic organisms (Those that have a mind of their own, but rely on machines to functions in areas like mobility, etc, can have her control their forms, but not their minds as long as the mind was a living human (or alien, etc) brain). Mostly it is the amount of safe guards in the programme that restrict her multiple or prolonged control over things. She could effectively control an entire roadway of cars and yet struggle to maintain dominance over a cybernetic life forms functions. The complexity of the build isn’t that influential over her powers, it could be any size and wouldn’t matter as long as the security in place is the same. So there could be a device the size of her fingernail that bares such a complex security system which may tire her out by the time she gains control over it and thus be unable to access any other machines until she recovers.
Keep in mind that she herself is not mechanical in anyway. There for wounding or distracting her will of course limit her minds potential of being so focused on so many different things, the larger amount of machines she control, the more focused she must be. Once she gains control of a machine less energy is used in maintaining its movements, as she only needs to control the actual programme without struggling to fight the security system any more. This however doesn’t mean she has unlimited control, gradually her focus and the minor strain on her mind-link with the machines will wear her out, especially if she has multiple targets within her control.
Mai must be within visual range of her targets when she initiates control, after that she have them cover a large distance, the only thing depending on the size of the distance and security system within the machine. She can not take control over something which is not in her general area (although there are times where she knows there’s a machine but won’t be able to see it for one reason or another) then the mental strain would be far too great, even if she knew where the machine was and the best way to access it’s systems with her mind, it would leave her weak and drained before she even attempted to hack into the security.
History:
The world of robotics is a vast entity made up of potentially limitless abilities, and with so many machines being created to control our world and our daily lives evolve around this impressive resource, a mutant with the ability to control this mechanical eco system is a powerful one indeed. But every day new problems are encountered and new software designed to stop those problems, security systems are advancing and it’s getting nearly impossible for the clueless or those lacking proper equipment to hack into common every day systems. But with the advancements of security comes also the advancements of it’s greatest enemy, the infamous ‘hackers’.
In 1990 a branch of the ever popular Agamemnon Corporation, a private company more widely known within the financial sectors world wide then a common household name, set up a small facility in Mount Pleasant, choosing one of the towns named Sleepy Hollow to go about their medical examinations. The Agamemnon Medical Facility was quickly a popular health center for locals of the villages in and around the Westchester County. However by 1995 it changed its name to the now renowned ‘Mount Pleasant Hospital’, and was said to be privately sold to the Sleepy Hollow community, a public lie to help distance the facility from the infamous Agamemnon Corp. who was uninterested in the public interest it was being given after setting up shop there.
Being considered a ‘family hospital’ allowed MPH (Mount Pleasant Hospital) to discreetly record and monitor all child births, becoming the trusted family doctors of the community allowed private testing to run smoothly and the trust of the people permitted easy exploit of the new generation of potentially useful mutants. Research and experiments were done almost right under the noses of the people, a sub community already underway by 1996, where children baring genetic mutated phenomenon’s, or if the parents were mutants of peculiar interest, the facility would take the child and raise them in the community in the subbasements of the Medical Facility.
Using the community as a breeding ground for useful mutants that would be more of the ‘side’ help then actual fighters, though were there should the need arise. The colony was divided into three main catagories, though others were also created these where the major ones; Mechanite, Merchandite and the Mantra’s.
Mechanite’s where ‘Hackers’ of the new generation, any mutant that could access computer mainframes or any technical, equipment to could turn into metallic organisms or anything involving the artificial world. They were used to unknowingly take part in hacking top secret files or other odd chores as ‘Training exercises.’ As these powered mutants were hard to find, they were a minor group in the population.
Merchandite’s where mutants able to produce, create, build, make, shape, basically design things able to be sold as a source of extra income for the Corporation’s smaller fractions or during times of great need where additional masses of money were needed. Not all mutants had a useful power but some had a natural talent, toymakers, jewellery makers, clothes makers, all sorts of talents were put to use and though some where solely for productivity in the Hollow, most things produced where sent off to be sold around the country.
Mantra’s where useful mutants or potentially useful mutants who were gifted with special powers but where unable to use them if a productive way, at least as long as they were down in the Hollow. In most cases the Mantra’s where raised to their early twenties and removed from the Hollow under the false impressions of ‘travelling off to study in another country’ or other similar reasons which would commonly be the excuse to their later removal from the community.
That very year in 1996 a young woman named Jessica Jones, with her husband Edward who was a Doctor at the Facility, decided to try for their second child. After the birth of their son, Joseph, Jessica had encountered sever problems regarding her health in various ways, her body so weak it had been bed ridden for over a week after the birth. After five years she felt she was willing to try for another one, despite the previous concerns for her unusual and somewhat unknown ill-health from the previous pregnancy. Unknown to her was that her husband, Ed Alloyd, was part of a Genetic Team attempting to create a new species of mutant, a powerful more specified and unique range of powered mutants they called Mechanite’s, Merchandite’s and Mantra’s. Mantra’s were just children naturally born and conceived but more commonly then not their genetic cells were forced to mutate in one form or another (Not all turned into unusual looking creatures, most just had their dormant powers activated in their infancy instead of adolescence) by a mutant known only as Professor Mantra Hymn. Empowered with the ability to alter the genetic structure or activate dormant powers with her vocal abilities when she sang, the end results depend on the specific X-Gene of each individual.
The Mechanite’s and Merchandite’s were a class of unborn children who were chosen from birth to increase their prospective chances of being useful, the doctors would chemically, genetically or some other unusual way they may have tested once or twice to artificially create a more powerful mutant ability within the children. Since they were unable to develop any power they desired they could only either implant a specific X-Gene they cloned or altered from another mutant or take a chance to see what the child was naturally able to do after they activated the mutant gene during child birth.
When Jessica sought to have her last child she wasn’t aware that Edward had been adding special toxins to her drinks and foods for a few months in order to provoke a mutated offspring by activating the X-Gene at birth. The result wasn’t entirely what Doctor Edward had hoped for, a year later in April when his daughter was born she was of odd hue and adorned with peculiar markings. At first he had his hopes yet during the first three years his daughter Mia Jones showed no unusual mutant abilities other then her peculiar skin colouration and markings.
Jessica’s first born, Joseph, took poorly towards the violet child that was his sister, his disapproval of her only strengthened by Jessica’s unwillingness to socialize with the baby girl who was so obviously a mutant. It wasn’t that Jessica was against her daughter being a mutant in the usual sense a mother is humiliated, it was mostly by the way the other people Jess knew, how they reacted when they first saw Mia, the way they embarrassed Jessica with crude comments about Mia’s odd skin tone and facial markings. Despite the need to love her child there was also the need for her social life and Jessica had found herself having to choose between one or the other, and she couldn’t turn her back on Mia.
At the end of 2000 Mia moved into the Medical Facility, the toddler experiencing ill-health continuously after Edward started discreetly giving her small amounts of poisons, pretending that he was finding a way to cure her sickly demeanour, Jessica reluctantly allowed her daughter to live away from their home. Ed injected Mia with a chemical that paralysed her muscles and slowed her breathing dramatically during one of Jessica’s visits, falsely passing the child off as dead and allowing Jessica to see the motionless child so she wouldn’t grow doubtful and suspicious over Edwards actions. Although heartbroken, Jessica managed to return to her old life rather smoothly, once again going to social outings and trying to move on, carefully hiding the pain that she felt, the guilt of the shame she had with her daughter driving on her prolonged depression.
Since her false death and to her adult hood, Mia lived underground in a carefully guarded community that was so realistic that none of the children were aware they were underground and trapped away from the real world. The ceiling had an illusionary sky that mimicked the passing of day and weather control systems that only added to the illusions, the subbasements of the community were impeccably designed in order to mimic the ‘normal’ life so that the subjects would not suffer the sense of captivity. In addition to mutants dwelling down in what was commonly called ‘The Hollow’, A.Corp’s personnel also lived there, to add a spice of normality as well as hospitable creatures, demonic entities that were used mainly to desensitise the populace to their existence. Often troublesome demons where purposefully released into the restricted area, as were violent humans, to give a balanced system of the towns good and bad. The ‘hostiles’ were usually drugged and thus wild and angry, the citizens of the Hollow were forced to handle the dilemma’s on their own, offering a chance for the young mutants to train with their powers and give incentive to learn how to better control them.
The common school was not only one of education but all three schools were mainly focused on the handling of mutant powers, ‘art classes’ used to train the mutants on how to produce merchandise to sell, all classes had intense training hidden behind their cheerful demeanour. The children themselves were untroubled and lived what felt like a normal childhood (save for the once or twice a week occurrence of risking an encounter with some wild hostile trying to kill them for one reason or another, but for them, that was entirely normal).
The community had almost fifty ‘families’, usually a mutant child that had been taken at birth or brought and raised with foster parents, workers of MPH or specially hired ‘parents’ that A.Corp brought in for certain reasons, such as the child’s unusual needs or something similar. As one of the children burned flesh on contact, the parents had to be gifted with a power to null this effect.
To make the area more realistic, they had a ‘shelter’, which children were placed in instead of a family, those in the shelter were usually placed there if they were between three and four years of age. Mia had been assigned to the Mechanite’s section of the female Sanctuary. As a toddler it had been discovered that her mutant abilities were controlling machines, something she had limited access to for the first three years of her life and the reason why her powers remained unnoticed. By thirteen it become obvious Miasma was a child of motherly affection, her attachment to a new Merchandite named Crystal was so strong that Mia became rebellious for the first time when they said they moved the frightened homeless mutant to another Sanctuary (In truth they were planning on disposing of her). The havoc caused by Mia before they relented in returning Crystal to Sleepy Hollow Sanctuary became renowned amongst the other students, originally they planned on destroying the girl after her ‘parents’ died in an accident and the feral-like child had run wild on the streets for a few years, seeming to have lost her potential of being a possible soldier in their workforce.
Granted they had the ability to bring her in any time, the community was not that large and they had surveillance in all areas and homes. But since Crystal was living on the street she was facing the constant threats of the hostiles without the protection of a safe home, so as an experiment, the Workers left her out there in hopes of Crystal possibly adapting to hunt the Hostiles with a greater degree of skill then the other children who only encounter them by accident in most cases. Although Crystal was taking up to hunting th creatures now and then, she was also perfecting her ability to hide and escape and between 9 and 10 her score of kills had dropped dramatically considering she preferred to flee instead of kill something, and she never killed any of the aggressive humans.
Mia tended to the 10 year old for a few months before she had been taken away, pet naming her ‘Gem’ due to the Gemstones Crystal accidentally produced at times when she was stressed. For the first month Gem didn’t speak, but when she did start speaking small simple sentences Mia found out that Crystal’s parents left one morning when she was six and hadn’t returned that night like they usually did. During the time Gem left to search for them A.Corp personnel packed up the things in the house, Crystal arriving to over hear them angrily demanding for their people to find her. It was more the tone of voice that frightened her and since then she was in hiding, surviving by eating scraps in the bins and sleeping in bushes.
Because of her hard times, Mia was determined to try help improve Crystal’s life, even if it was only by looking after her like a little sister, this being the reason she later grew angry after the Caretakers removed Crystal without warning. It was this show of friendship and stubbornness that caught the attention of an 11 year old Mantra girl who helped stand up for Crystal when the mineral producing mutant got in trouble for not socializing properly. Claire, the Mantra child who thrived off the close cluster of people she lived with, helped Crystal settle in with others, and gradually earned the friendship of Mia. By their mid teens all three girls were inseparable, which caused constant conflict since Mantra’s, Merchandite’s and Mechanite’s were not supposed to mingle together outside of ‘supervised’ areas and only during restricted times of the week so that they all kept their productivity output to a maximum, and Claire being a Mantra meant she was more of a distraction from Crystal’s production of the precious minerals. And Mia often at times would delay her ‘homework’ by spending time helping or looking after Crystal, a cycle of distractions and wasting time and yet whenever the girls where split they’d only get worse.
Claire’s ghostly abilities enabled her to often sneak around and by their late teens the workers of the Sanctuary were used to the trio, all three of whom worked far better in their group then they did individually. By their mid-twenties the trio were skilled in their talents and all three were living together in their own home (by twenty the students of the Sanctuary are permitted to leave), Claire worked mostly with mastering her abilities, Mia became an assistant social worker by helping other struggling mutants deal with their powers and Crystal remained mostly in the house, producing art work which they sold or swapped for food and clothes, Gem only ever leaving with either or both of the other two woman. It wasn’t uncommon for the three to spend a pleasant night strolling the parks or other areas common that have wild humans or wild demons lurking trying to cause havoc, often they put their skills to the test, like most of the residents of the Hollow.
Gradually members of their community seemed to be disappearing over the recent years, new children arriving all the time and yet only a small handful of pregnancies are actually ‘seen’, at times children just basically appear out of nowhere and the adults disappear. Claire’s curious mind too more eager interest in this then the others, resulting in her snooping around mostly on her own. It was this snooping that alerted her to the ‘abduction plans’, or at least that’s what she called them when she ran back to the others. In truth she overheard the plans for obtaining mutants ready to be used as soldiers in the upcoming war the New York A.Corp was having against the infamous X-men based in the same area.
Although at first Mia found the accusations amusing and ‘imaginative’, even she had to realize something was curiously suspicious when people where being called to the Council Building without reasons being given other then ‘their help was needed’. But the populace were told of a threat against their home, groups of people determined to fight each other and risk harming all those who get in their way, unfortunately no names were given and they ended with ‘Agamemnon can not protect you forever.’
Claire admitted she may have misunderstood what she over heard, since it didn’t appear as if there was any forced departures, Mia assumed others were probably asked privately but they needed more help. Although the woman ended up agreeing to take part in protecting their home, things seemed to fall apart for them a little, first they had been given no warning of their departure, the same night Workers arrived to whisk them away from their beds and then they seemed to have been put to sleep since they all woke in a building with twenty others who had previously been noticed as missing.
Actually, only Mia and Crystal awoke in the room, realization settled that Claire was not with them, their necks adorned with thin metal bands which had an ominous feel to them… Gradually the ‘team’ had been split into smaller groups, each one being sent to different parts of New York city, causing havoc in hope to lure the X-men out and also in hopes of grinding down the resistance of the public towards A.Corp’s strict potential laws regarding mutant activities and ‘handling’.
As for Claire, she couldn’t be drugged, nor could she be tagged with the collars in order to keep control of her (it could shock the mutants with electricity and was also a tracking device), and since the workers were aware that the other two wouldn’t leave the Hollow if Claire was forbidden to travel with them and they’d cause too much trouble if they just took them against their will. At first they had tried to talk with Claire, and since she agreed to come she didn’t put up more then a grumbling attitude at their treatment. It was when they started putting collars onto her friends that Claire really started to be more problematic then usual. Demanding to know why they were putting collars on everyone and what they were for, she had been trapped in a special containment field that the scientists had developed to contain her abilities so she hadn’t been able to help her friends.
(Claire will begin on the board being transported towards A.Corp in the truck, the other two will be roaming the somewhere in the city I figure, just leaving the compound they had woken in…so I’ll end it here unless there are problems… I know the bio is pretty shifty in a few places…>>…<<…)
