Comments over 'what ever happened to responsibility' I quote your own words: "It used to be that if a woman got pregnant, her family sent her off to live in shame with some Aunt in another state until she had the baby and the baby was put up for adoption or the baby was raised by other, more senior members of the family. The family was responsible for the actions of its members." And then a bit further you wrote: "My niece knew that if, at 15 years of age, (if) she got pregnant and chose to keep the baby, the State of California would give her money - Welfare it was called. The State would assume responsibility for her and she wouldn't have to(o). She had one baby. And then another. And then another. So much for being responsible for your actions. Who needs to be responsible when the State will pay you to have babies.(?)" Who exactly do you blame for not taking responsibility here? Your niece? Your family? Yourself, as uncle? From what I understand the state of California is the least to be blamed in this situtation. Didn't it act as substitute when nobody, including you, did 'take responsibility'? What other alternative solution did you expect: let the child (at 15, you're a child) go on her own with 3 kids to feed, end up in the street? Ok, I don't want to sound too harsh here so let's say I liked your 3 lines description of the 'Windshield Murderer' (for those of you who care to make comparisons here's a link: 216.250.230.16/ap_mallardchante.jpg) LOL Comments anyone, Jim? |
