Creaky Floors
Hi all, we are the proud owners of a new 316RLS Open Road fifth wheel. We have experienced some problems with the floor creaking in the back - has anyone else had these problems? We have tried different leveling techniques but they still creak. My husband thinks that maybe the floors are stapled whereas they should have been screwed to the frame. Anyone have any suggestions or similar problems? Thanks!
Bren
I see "Evilone" posted to the Open Road forum 3/9/2003 that his living room floor creaked. I believe he is the same person as Larryone on this forum. Perhaps you'll get a response from him. Meanwhile, you might want to read his postings.
Re: Creaky Floors
Hi Brenda and Bill
We are owners of an open road 5 er 357rld and we also had
a problem with our floors creaking really bad we told our dealership about it they said thats how they are nothing could be done! well, we called pilgrim directly and they told us to tighten the lag bolts underneath on the floor and my husband joe crawled under gave it a couple of turns and no
more creaking!!! if you are unable to get under there and take your rig in for service tell them to tighten the lag bolts.
By the way we are loving ours and have been extremely pleased with pilgrim's attitude towards their owners. and just a quick note there are different rigs out there because they are constantly changing to meet our needs we have noticed a really big difference in 2003 models on the ones that were built in 2002 and the ones manufactured in 2003 we have 2003
that was built in 2002 and my electric service is only a 30 amp instead of 50 so look at your manufacture dates.
Re: Creaky Floors
We took our TT to the dealer to get the creaky floors fixed. They just shoved shivs between the floor and the metal joists. The creaking was louder than ever. I sent my 14-year old son, Adam, under the trailer with a socket wrench and we now have quiet floors!
