Curiosity can lead to Revenge
It was a cool day in Midgard. The sun was out, but of course in the far north...that rarely matters. I pulled my cloak about myself a bit more the help take the chill off. It would be no use for me to try to fire my bow if I could not use my hands. I had been wandering most of the day and even into some time of the evening. As it was, the hour was starting to get late once more. I was near the Castle Svasud Faste.

I have often been amazed at how many folk seem to gather at this place. Then I found out why. The Gothi invoke powerfull magicks that transport a great deal of people into border lands of new realms. NEW REALMS! The idea struck me that soon I will have to see these places. However the Gothi informed me I was not strong enough yet to venture out. So I took that with a smile and a nod, and made my way through the large double doors on the opposite side of the castle.

It was set up as if in preporation for war. Guards everywhere and many stakes placed to stop any charges by horse. There were some woods not to far off, so I decided to have a look around. After all, these were new lands I had not yet seen. I whistled loudly and summoned Gerr, the large wolf that has been my companion since i took up being a hunter. And we set off at a loping pace. Within minutes however, something was dreadfully wrong. IT was silent...far to silent. No squirrels moved among the tall pine trees, no chatter of birds, not even the howl of a lone wolf. Nothing. The silence cast a dreadful air about the woods.

With a great deal of trepidation, I swallowed the lump that had grown in my throat and moved near a tree. It was then I saw them, A large group of folk, who spoke an odd language I did not understand at all. They were dressed a bit funny. Sure some had the traditional robes I have seen on most of our magi, yet some wore armor that seemed like a series of metal plates all woven together. I watched them walking past for a time, then one turned and noticed Gerr standing there.

I did not know what to do, one the one hand...this was my companion, though he was made of God stuff, he would still be killed and barred from returning for some time. On the other hand, if I tried to run, our position would be given away, and the result would be the same. Only to add to Gerr's demise, my own would ensue.

I decided to take a bit of action, since it seemd the people did not like my wolf. They began yelling and gesturing a bit toward him. It was then i noticed one of them pulling out a bow on a large block of wood. (I later came to find out that is a crossbow) He leveled it at Gerr, and took aim. I knew what was going to happen, but i could not leet my companion be slaughtered like this. With a near silent noise to Gerr, he snarled at leaped at the stranger. The bolt sank into his hide right by his neck. Sending Gerr back to his far plane once more. Enraged I took out my arrow and leveled it at the man.

A wizard of theirs apparently saw me, for he started to gesture wildly at me in the throws of some spell. I took a brief second of aim, and let fly at the mage. Only to watch in horror my arrow bounce off of some sort of field about him. Then the world erupted in pain and fire....I fealt the knife enter my back, at the same time the mages flames engulfed my body.

Several dizzying moments later, i awoke once more, back in Aegirhamn. My body was not so destroyed as I thought it would be, yet I could not get the smell out of my nose. "Ahhh, I thought to myself, These must be the Albions or HIbernians I have heard many speak of" Yes....I think perhaps it may be time for me to train as hard as I can...so that Gerr and I can walk back to these folk...and show them what pain truly is. For several say revenge is best served cold....who better to deal it, than one from the frozen lands...?
