Your Character
Character's Name: Denethor, son of Ecthelion, Steward of Gondor

Age: 89

Race: Man of Gondor

Gender: Male

Description: "...carven face with its proud bones and skin like ivory, and the long curved nose between the dark deep eyes, and he was reminded not so much of Boromir as of Aragorn.” Return of the King: “Minas Tirith”

Personality: Always anxious about the future ahead of him. He has become very embittered due to the death of Findulas his wife. He tends to favor his son Boromir over Faramir. He is pessimistic about many things.

Possessions: Elaborate chainmail hidden under his cloak with a sword.

History: Born on 2930 of the third age, he was the son of Steward Ecthelion. At age 54 he succeeded his father and became the 26th, and last, Steward of Gondor. In 2976 he wedded Findulas of Dol Amroth. They had two sons, Boromir and Faramir. In 2988 Findulas died. This gave Denethor great sorrow and bitterness. Some of this bitterness was vented upon Faramir.

He, unfortunately, turned to use the Palantír. Seeing with it, Sauron seduced his mind with worry and trouble.

In 3019 Sauron invaded Gondor. His son Faramir was badly wounded in Osgiliath, and in despair Denethor was going to burn Faramir and himself alive in Minas Tirith. Faramir was rescued, but Denethor perished in the fire he made for himself, clutching the Palantír.

Sample RP: Denethor sat gazing at the walls and the ceiling. He sat on the Steward’s seat, below the raised throne of the King. However, the Kings were gone when Earnur vanished in the Morgul Vale. He was the ruler of Gondor, and his Line would remain that way until the King returned. Denethor knew in his heart that that was a severe technicality no more: the idea of the King returning was withering from the Gondorian mind, especially since the height of Sauron’s power.

Denethor slowly rose and walked at a leisurely pace to the door. His footsteps echoed in the great hall as the only sound to be heard there until the sound of the creaking door shattered the almost silence. He walked into the courtyard for a breath of fresh air.

A Citadel Guard approached the Steward.

"The ceremony shall begin soon, mi'lord," the guard said.

"Good. Inform them I am coming," Denethor replied.

The guard nodded and was off on his way.
