Doing the 'Sisterly' Thing
(ooc- This takes place shortly before the time leap.)

Making her way slowly to the Brotherhood Headquarters was Madison, who for once was being pushed around. Well, she was walking far to slow for everyone else who was walking down the street and they weren’t going to go out of their way not to bump into her since they all had places to be. Although, she scoffed a few times at everyone’s rudeness, Madison seemed to adjust to it as she focused her mind on the plan at hand.

So far it had been working well, she had found the mutants she wanted and absorbed their powers for what she needed. One of the important powers was teleportation. Sure, it would have been simple to just walk all the way to the Brotherhood, but Madison didn’t want the risk of anyone following her. And even if she had absorbed some speed powers, her scent would linger for those with an enhanced scent, like Connor. Besides, Arisa was gifted with teleportation.

Madison had teleported off to a few places, just to be on the safe side if someone had picked up her scent and followed her. Failing in hardly anything, and never liking it if she did, Madison was not going to let herself become a failure today. That led to the second power Madison absorbed, shapeshifting. If she was going to do this right she couldn’t look anything like Madison Enright, instead she was walking the streets in the form of Arisa Howlett, though she was in the white skinned form of her younger half sister, not wanting to draw any more attention to her than she was about to in Arisa’s true blue furred form.

Getting closer to the Brotherhood and further away from the busy streets, Madison quickly thought over her plan one last time:
Go into the Brotherhood disguised as Arisa
Use the borrowed powers to attack in a similar way as Arisa
Claim to have been working undercover for the X-Men
And basically destroy all chances Arisa has of still living at the Brotherhood…

At least in Madison’s head it sounded like a good idea, if her little half sister couldn’t live at the Brotherhood anymore she’d have to return to Xavier’s and that meant things might actually start looking up for the children of Wolverine. And the bonus was that Arisa was missing, well a bonus in a way, so that meant Madison could probably get through her plan without her showing up and ruining Madison’s plan.

Madison had to be the worst sister to ever live, to Arisa at least. Never once had she liked her blue furred half sister being alive, she had even attempted to kill her not long after she had been born. Ever since then a hatred had grown between the two, Madison always causing more trouble between the two but Arisa was always able to stand her ground. But ever since the ‘blue freak’ had left for the Brotherhood, Madison began to miss her and actually feel a little guilty for not being a good sister. If she was, chances were that Arisa would still live with them and Connor would be happy to have his family around, instead of seeing Arisa when she snuck out at nightfall.

Now things were going to change though… it couldn’t fail. Could it? The thing that Madison didn’t know was, while Arisa was missing she had been told things that made up her mind for no returning to the X-Men and her family.

Missing Arisa was one thing, but actually liking her sister was another. What Madison had thought was guilt for being a bad sister was her minds way of feeling bad for not having done more harm to Arisa. That fact just hadn’t been sparked yet, which would cause the bitter hatred to return once it was.

Madison’s now emerald green eyes landed on the Brotherhood Headquarters before flickering Madison made her way to the front door…

Her skin-toned hand began to darken into a shade of blue as fur grew on it as it reached for the door handle, along with the rest of her body. Though it quickly withdrew as the door opened by someone on the other side. Madison’s Arisa-like eyes narrowed at the green skinned girl who opened it.

"Out of my way!" Madison demanded as she pushed past the daughter of Toad, as she released her claws before quickly casting an illusion over them to make them look bone and not metallic. Shauna sent a nasty glare before she walked out of the doorway, there she stopped and turned back, Arisa didn’t have metal claws, did she? But she only saw bone ones second time round, giving a quick shake of the head Shauna told herself to get more sleep tonight. Though, she was not pleased with the way Arisa had treated her, well Shauna didn’t really like Arisa that much either. But that was only due to Mystique giving most of her attention to Arisa over the past six months, and Shauna had been trying hard to please Mystique with her jobs, but all her hard work had gone unnoticed and with no Magneto around for quite some time she questioned over staying there. The problem for her was that she was part of a duo, with her brother. However, he seemed to have his attention away from business with the little rich princess, Victoria. Even if they were ‘broken up’ it was only for a short time and even if Jason was angry with Victoria he somehow never seemed to shut up about her. With barely anyone to talk to, Shauna felt alone. Sure, she had some friends but they never took their assignments all that seriously and the green skinned girl was very serious when it came to work for the Brotherhood.

"Arisa!" Madison knew who the owner of this voice was; none other than the Metamorph known as Mystique. She was one of the people who Madison had been raised to distrust and hate. Though the hate for the blue skinned mutant was only brought on because of how she broke up her family. If it wasn’t for Mystique her father wouldn’t have slept with her and Arisa would never have been born and maybe, just maybe, she might be living in a happy family. However, Madison hadn’t been told the whole story of what happened that night when she was only little, Mystique had tricked the Wolverine into thinking that she was his wife.

"Where have you been?" Okay, Mystique knew where Arisa headed off to at night. She wasn’t stupid. The shapeshifter knew that her youngest child went off to meet others she knew who did not belong to the Brotherhood. Though, she wasn't going to stop it. If she did Arisa wouldn’t enjoy her stay here and there would be a chance of her leaving. Mystique didn’t want to risk that.

"Wouldn’t you like to know?" A smirk formed from Arisa’s blue lips, Madison had to be careful not to make it look like one of her own, so she added a sense of sweetness to it like Arisa always did. "I bet you do…" Madison knew she was diving into this a little early, she should have waited, toyed around with her half sister’s mother a little before she did this. Then again, it wasn’t really like Madison to wait. Nothing got done when you stood around waiting. You have to get things done by yourself. And now, Madison was really in on this by herself.

"Mother, I've enjoyed my stay here but all good things must come to an end…" 'Arisa' began pacing around the room as she spoke. She added a bit of politeness to her speech, if Arisa was really the one doing this she wouldn't be as bitter as they way Madison would have done it, so the older sister stuck to Arisa’s rules.

"Oh, come on…" She dragged out a sigh as she stopped with her pacing and stared right in Mystique’s yellow eyes. Surely, Mystique had figured what was going on. Or had she somehow been talked up by the older X-Men.

"From when I was little and mother-less I had been raised to hate you…" So, Madison was lying a little there. Arisa had been told to be cautious around Mystique. Never did she seem to despise her mother though. "… I was told you were manipulative and would do whatever you could to get whatever you want," At least Madison had been told of that about Mystique. Her yellow eyes stared back, not noticing a flicker in them apart from the occasional blink. The shapeshifter’s mind figured things out. She knew what was going on. Well, what Madison wanted her to think anyway…

"Seems as if I inherited some of you," She smiled sweetly, though it was more of mere sarcasm than anything else. Mystique shook her head. This couldn’t be right. She couldn’t have been outsmarted by the youngest child of hers. "Getting slow in your old age, eh?" Madison continued, not allowing Mystique a chance to say a word. "You knew I left at night. Did you really think I was meeting with my friends?" Perhaps she should have followed after Arisa to see where she was going, or just banned her from leaving the Brotherhood’s building altogether, but Mystique thought that she was able to trust her daughter. Now she was being proved wrong. "I was giving them all the information I had gathered from this place…" Now Madison was stepping into dangerous territory. She hadn’t bothered to see Arisa while she was gone, only on one occasion however since Connor forced her to. Madison felt she could have enjoyed her time elsewhere. So since she hadn’t spoke to Arisa she had to create her story out of nothing.

"Too bad there wasn't much to say," Mystique’s pupil-less eyes narrowed, she hadn’t really gotten Arisa involved in much of the Brotherhood’s work as of yet. She was planning on doing that later on once she felt Arisa had settled in. Good thing for her she hadn't, or so she thought anyway. The other factor working in Madison’s favour was that the Brotherhood was still lying low, for they were not at the peak of their strength. So she was lucky that could be used against Mystique. The middle child of Wolverine knew that they weren’t as strong as they used to, but she didn’t know how weak they really were at this moment of time.

"You trusted me… And that was a foolish move," Seeing the look on Mystique’s face, knowing what this would do to Arisa, only made Madison enjoy this more. Perhaps she was already feeling the pleasure she took out of hurting Arisa, while she still thought she was doing the right thing.

"You betrayed your own mother," Mystique’s voice was low as she spoke. Though as much anger as she had at the moment, she was, in a way, a little proud that her daughter had inherited a part of her personality. It was just the part of it being used against her that got to her. Now two of her children were completely allied with the X-Men, and her granddaughter. Only one other child of hers was with the Brotherhood, and that was Phoebe. Her other child, a son who she had with Sabretooth she had killed for turning on mutants and creating anti-mutant groups. Though, she was the one to abandon him as he showed no signs of being mutant.

Hearing the loud voices coming from the front hall, Jason Toynbee rushed in to see what was going. With a few leaps, he could see that some kind of an argument was brewing. Slowly he began to step back, his legs causing him to bounce a little with each step from his mutated leg muscles.

Madison looked over to the green skinned mutant. Did anyone in the Brotherhood have a human skin colour? They all seemed to be blue or green from what she had seen. She wasn’t sure what to do with him in the room. She had only planned on seeing Mystique, she hadn’t thought of what she’d do with anyone else.

"Stay outta this," Jason just nodded quickly. As foolish as he could be at times, he wasn’t stupid enough to get involved with this. "I said STAY OUT!" Madison added quickly, before a 'bamf' was heard and she was next to Jason, claws still retracted. "I'll show you why I had nothing to say to my fellow X-Men, Mother," Her right Arisa-blue furred fist clenched and she slammed the 'bone' claws into Jason’s thigh. It was a good move by Madison, if she had of stabbed Mystique she’d know the difference between bone and metal claws so she’d figure something was up. Jason was yet to be stabbed by anyone’s claws, so he knew nothing.

"She stabbed me!" He knew that was stating the obvious, but he hadn’t expected that. From what he had seen of Arisa she seemed so polite, which seemed so out of place for the Brotherhood. After 'Arisa' had retracted her claws, Jason’s hand quickly clenched his wound to stop the blood from coming out. While outside somewhere, Shauna was feeling pain in her leg though there was no visible wounds and it wasn’t as bad, she could still feel it. Silently she cursed her brother for finding some trouble and getting hurt. Both twins hated how they had to share their pain and illnesses.

"He couldn't even see that coming," She shook her head as if he should have known for years that this was going to happen. "You've become weak and pathetic. A joke amongst mutants!" Now Madison was just beginning to enjoy this too much. If she kept going she was surely going to forget the reason behind why she was here and blow her cover.

"You tell your precious X-Men that if they DARE to cross me, or the Brotherhood again, there will be dire consequences. I'm only letting you off for now because you are my daughter…" Jason’s eyes widened. He was in pain, he didn’t want her to get away with it! "Get out!" Madison forced one of Arisa’s sweet smiles out, which felt weird doing, sort of hurt her cheeks.

"Trust me, I don't wanna waste anymore time here," With a wave there was another 'bamf' and Madison was gone, or Arisa in the case of the two Brotherhood mutants. Madison only teleported as far as just around the corner of the Brotherhood headquarters, which happened to be a little alleyway. Then she got to shift out of Arisa’s form and back into her own. With a satisfied smirk she dusted off her hands and began making her way home.

"Ouch!" Jason yelled, trying to get attention directed to him. He wasn’t gifted with any healing powers, so that meant he was going to have to get some kind of medical attention. Plus, he wanted some kind of sympathy for getting hurt. By now, he should have been smart enough to know that he wasn’t going to get that from Mystique.

"Grow up," Mystique snapped back angrily. Both her fists were clenched with fury but she wasn’t going to let Arisa get away with this. The X-Men had become even more of a target for the Brotherhood. If only they had the power to strike right now…

"You let her get away with it…" Mystique sent a sharp glare over to the younger mutant, daring him to continue but Jason stopped. He was already in pain as it was, he didn’t want to feel anymore.

"Oh, she hasn't gotten away with much," A smirk formed from the shapeshifter’s red lips. Lines had been crossed. Betrayal had been caused. Mystique herself was known for doing both things, but when it happened to her things didn’t turn out good for those against her…
