Tess, Nalani and Loni all sat together, sprawled over the later's bed. It had been a little while since the last dream attempt and after getting absolutely nothing Loni and Nalani had agreed to try something a bit different.
"I'm a little new to all this, are you sure I won't just screw things up?" Tessa asked, looking slightly apprehensive.
"I promise. Besides what is there to screw up?" Loni asked glumly. "I think the supernatural boost should help."
"Okay, but I'm not responsible for any fatalities that may occur," Tess said jokingly. At the lack of response she added quickly, "joke."
"I think we'd better give it a try now," Loni said and waited while her two friends moved off the bed before lying down and readying herself. She prepared to use her powers and felt Tessa's hand in hers on the right and Nalani's on the left.
Nalani's presecence was comforting and she squeezed her dreamwalking friend's hand quickly then shot out her own stedy stream of power, gently but firmly enhancing Loni's abilities to see things, to have prophectic dreams.
On the other side Tessa was slightly more hesitant but just as reassuring as she lent her own supernatural magic in the form of faerie power.
Loni felt herself growing sleepy as she slipped into the world where dream orbs from all over were contained. One whipped by her and Loni stopped it without even meaning to.
The orb was dented and spun faster than any other she'd ever seen. As it stopped its forward motion before her the orb spun around her and hovered in the air. She called to it, matching it's note of low music with her own soprano melody and it spun into her arms. Loni openned the orb before her and stepped in mechanically. Later she would wonder why she had found herself inside of it for she hadn't actually chosen to step through so much as was pulled there somehow.
There was a man there, dark haired and quite handsome but there was something about him that was different. He, unlike most dreamers she met, seemed to know that this was a dream as he walked through what seemed like miles of desert as far as the eye could see.
Loni watched from afar for a moment before he turned to face her, turned his hazel hawklike eyes upon her. She knew instantly that he didn't think her just another part of the dream.
"Who are you?" he demanded, his voice loud and clear obviously that of a leader.
"I'm Loni," she replied, seeing no reason to decieve him.
"You're not a part of my dream". It was a statement.
"No. I was searching for someone, not here in this dream though. I wanted to know about some otherworldly guests we've had," Loni said, taking the plunge. Perhaps if she had been drawn here it was for a reason, to help her.
He didn't offer his name but walked across the hot sand to meet her. "Otherworldly?" he asked.
"Maybe we should talk somewhere a little less hot," Loni suggested, feeling a bead of sweat drop from her forehead. Without waiting for a reply she changed the scenery and the pair found themselves standing in the middle of a rainforest like place.
The man looked startled then less so as he realized something. "You're a mutant aren't you. That's your power, something to do with going into other people's dreams."
"Among other things," Loni replied mysteriously as she leaned down and dipped her feet in the pool beneath a small waterfall that had suddenly appeared.
"But you're not from my world," he continued slowly as everything suddenly made sense.
"Why? What's your world like? You don't by chance have a couple of vampires, one quite insane, well two actually I guess and one who is rather cruel do you?" the dreamwalking mutant asked, throwing several questions at him all at once.
"Angelus, Drucilla and Spike I'd assume. Let me guess some switching of people in your universe for ones in mine," he said grimly.
Loni gaped at him, mouth open wide. "How did you? You're from that horrible world I've been hearing about. Some of our students were trapped there, Clay and Dawn among others."
"Listen would you pass on a message please? There's a girl in your verse called Aisha, Rayne. Would you tell her Drian says he'd sorry but it had to be done and that he's just fine?" the man asked.
"S-Sure I can do that. You're Drian I supose. So anyway anything about these vampires and how can I connect to you through dreams?" Loni asked excitedly.
"Stay away from them and make sure they don't go near any of you're friends. They're trouble and they're out for blood. As for your question I have visions, that's probably why," the man called Drian told her then looked at her strangely. "Loni? You're fading."
Loni looked down and realized she was exiting the dream whether she wanted to or not. "I'll try and come back. I'll give her your message," she shouted as the dreams faded and she awoke.
Tessa and Nalani looked anxiously up at her. "Loni what happened?" Tessa asked quickly.
"Guys you're not gonna believe this," the dreamwalking mutant said and sat up to recount her tale to her friends.
