Dream a little Dream
Loni lay on her bed, not yet asleep but not entirely awake. As she often was Loni had retreated to the world of dreams where her powers could help her and others.
~~Dream Sequence~~
Loni looked around at the institute. It was clear as day and so very realistic but like few other people she could always tell her dreams from reality.
In the dream a solumn young girl approached.
"Hi there," Loni said, kneeling down beside her. She knew from experience that the girl had something important to say more often than not.
"Hi. You're the Dream lady aren't you?" the little girl said, her innocent blue eyes focused on Loni.
"Yes I am. Do you want to tell me something?" Loni asked gently.
"I have a message," the girl announced. "He's here you know."
"Who's here?" Loni asked, becoming interested.
"Spike," she said simply.
"I don't know any man named Spike. I mean there was an X-man by that name I believe but that was awhile ago and-" Loni was interrupted as the girl shook her head and laughed.
"Not him silly! The vampire, the blonde one. He came here and he brought friends," the little girl said.
"Which friends, what about this vampire? Tell me more," Loni begged.
"Now you're not being polite Dreamlady. I can't anyway though," the girl said and glanced around.
Loni looked in her direction and noticed that people had appeared everywhere and were running, some in costume. They hadn't been there before she knew.
"Why not?" Loni asked stubbornly.
"It's not safe for you now. You have to go. When you come back will you push me? On the swings I mean?" the girl asked, her voice brightening.
"I'll push you now if you'll only tell me everything," Loni said, trying to bribe the girl but she had already left.
"No wait!" Loni called and used her dream manipulation to conjure up the girl again.
"That's cheating, you're not playing by the rules," the girl said shaking her head.
"Rules?" Loni questionned but the girl had turned to walk away again.
"Next time you have to play by the rules. You always manipulate them here, it doesn't work that way," The girl said quietly and she disappeared into mists.
Loni would have tried again but daylight seeped through and against her will she was wretched from the dreamworld.
Loni sighed and hoped that it had just been a strange dream but she knew that wasn't true. This hadn't exactly been her usual sort of prophetic dream but it had been trying to tell her something and she had to know if it was true.
She sprung up off her bed and left the room, heading for Xavier's.
