Dreaming of You
Loni hesitated outside his door, unwilling to knock and yet wanting to more than anything. Just as she was about to turn and walk away she heard the muffled call, "It's open."
Loni swallowed deeply and openned the dorm door slowly to find herself looking at his back. Didn't he even care that someone had come to see him?
"Loni," was the monotoned greeting, a greeting that somehow disappointed the dream mutant although she wasn't quite sure why.
"Can I come in?"
This actually got a look from Drian as he turned to face her with an expression of indifference. "Looks like you've already answered that question."
Loni blushed as she looked down and realized she was already in the room. Considering his response she decided he hadn't said to leave and perhaps he didn't want her to. She took a seat on the bed next to him and looked over his shoulder.
Silence.
"Loni-"
"Drian-"
Both spoke at the same time then gestured for the other to continue.
"How are you?" Loni asked gently.
"Fine," was his typically short reply.
"I meant how was the adjustment coming, between worlds."
This generated another pause before Drian spoke, this time with true feeling in his voice. 'It's difficult Lon, I keep thinking of them."
"I know, I felt it last night," Loni said, referring to the dream they had shared. Their powers had gotten to the point where they were more than compatible, more along the lines of explosive and magnetic. Whenever they slept they came together in dreams, his premonitions and her dreamwalking drawing them together, closer than either had ever been to a person. In less than a week they had gotten to the point where they knew more about eachother than even a childhood friend would. Only Rayne knew more about Drian and at the moment she was the last person he wanted to see.
Aisha was adjusting well, getting used to the world and loving to play with the sun and watch it dart behind clouds in the bluest of skies. The only thing that unnerved her was the exact duplicate of her mother being around. Drian was a whole nother story. He was a fighter, a leader and warrior by nature. A warrior couldn't just cut it cold turkey and settle down to a peaceful life. His blood burned within him still, hot with anger at the evil of Lost Angels and what they had done to him and countless others all their lives, what they were still doing. He felt as if he had given up on his friends and on his band and the weight of the world on his shoulders was hard to bear.
"Stay with me, I can introduce you to people and help you fit in," Loni offered, putting a soothing hand on his.
He took her hand in his and immediately felt the chemistry as their powers flirted with eachother and mingled. He felt a trance like state come over him as her sleep mixed with his premonitions and he began to see, truly see with the mind that that was the future.
He watched as Aisha laughed with a group of friends and felt a pang of jealousy and of possessiveness before the hand was on his shoulder. It was Loni's and he looked at her questionningly.
"You're not alone," she said, knowing what he was thinking about the solitary life that surely awaited him.
"I know," he said and although he hadn't before Drian knew that she would always be there when he needed her. That was a very powerful feeling and his usually expressionless face slipped into a slight smile.
"Let's go," he said and the two broke their connection and headed back to the reality of the institute and the present day.
TBC-me? I don't really have any plans so we'll see what happens.
