On October 11, 2003, Detroit will hold the first annual Drift and Show Battle at AutoCity Speedway in Clio, Michigan. Brought to you by ProjectASpec.com and the SpeedDrift Group, the event will exhibit all that's up and coming in the car enthusiast scene including a sport compact "tuner" car show displaying over 200 of Southwest Michigan's hottest 'Fast and Furious' cars, track competitions, and a drift exhibition.
The Drift and Show Battle will premier Michigan's first drift competition. Drifting is one of the hottest craze in motorsports to sweep the nation, and its what Michigan's enthusiasts have been craving for but have up until now never had the chance to be a part of. [This would be a perfect area to put in a quote by an industry expert on drifting and its spreading]
The drift competition will allow beginners to professional drifters to test their skills and driving abilities in "putting their car sideways" in a controlled slide through the turns accumulating points for creativity and style. Not only is this event exciting to participate in, but it is also addicting to watch as you see cars being pushed to their limits in a way never seen before.
A "Legal Street Racing" competition will also be held to satisfy the hearts of the straight line racers. By incorporating aspects that will give car enthusiasts the wild adrenaline building rush of being in a street race but in a safe and controlled track environment, this will ensure a safe and fun event for everyone. Have a friendly grudge with your neighbor on whose car is faster? This will make the perfect event to settle it.
Drift and Show Battle will also hold a motorcycle stunt show, oval track competition, burnout contest, bikini contest, and much much more. Spectator-only tickets will be available at the door for $5. A registration fee of $30 will offer access to participate in the car show and all motorsport events. Early registration is suggested as some events will be limited in number of participants.
