Physical Description:
Pale and tending towards the petite, Emery makes an unimposing figure, standing a mere 5"4. Observant large brown eyes with long lashes make this soon to be twenty-year-old attractive enough to not be carelessly dismissed yet she also doesn't garner a great deal of attention. Neutral-toned makeup lead to the belief many hold that she isn't wearing any at all but she does have a nearly flawless complexion and if she were to be coaxed into dressing up for an evening out she could be quite a looker.
A fine nose and full pink lips compliment her handsome eyes and her dark brows arch slightly over them. Her ears are pierced but she often forgets about earrings. When she does wear them she prefers smaller studs to dangling ornaments. Emery's long auburn hair is sleek and long, falling effortlessly down to her lower back in a straight vail. She is not generously proportioned but neither does she have a boyish figure. When she moves it's with the litheness of a dancer and when she speaks it's with a low pleasantly soothing but otherwise unremarkable voice.
Emery often appears to be concentrating and her forehead crinkles ever so slightly in thought. She is always thinking, always worrying or imagining and this may make her seem pre-occupied at times yet she makes an excellent listener who gives her attention fully and without asking the speaker to return the favour. She always seems willing to listen and perhaps that's why some people find it easier to open up to her.
When it comes to style Emery's first consideration is comfort. No matter how nice the outfit she will not wear it if she doesn't feel comfortable. As a result she rarely wears heels, even though they could provide her with a fortunate lift. She grows cold faster than others and prefers to be bundled up in the winter with fitted sweaters and a warm toque for outdoors. In the summer she tends to wear tank tops and is often mindful of her status as a redhead in choosing colours to wear. Blues, greens and black are her favourites and much of her wardrobe is contained in these colours. She is not opposed to dressing up and wears skirts when she feels in the mood although Emery can often be viewed in jeans.

Skills: Listening - Emery has a particular propensity towards listening. She has a good ear and is able to observe without making a person uneasy and to listen without interruptions. As a result people tend to open up towards her. Her sister Harry used to joke that it was due to her low hypnotic voice.
Cooking - Although Em can't sew to save her life she does enjoy cooking, and eating for that matter. She has one of those most enviable of metabolisms allowing her to eat a great deal without gaining any weight and as a result she has a good appetite and enjoys cooking and baking. Her father once told her that every man and woman should know how to cook and had insisted on showing all his children. Of them Emery was the most interested and so she learned the most and is quite capable of making a good meal from scratch.
Observing - Being the non-mutant in a school of them means you either get completely ignored or singled out. Emery is both but when ignored she finds that she takes in more than most. She sees everything and everyone around her better because she doesn't always participate and this works to her advantage.
Languages - Emery has always had a certain gift for languages. She picked up spanish faster than most of the kids in her grade and even managed to retain her knowledge in order to build on it. She now speaks a moderate amount of spanish and passable Italian as well as knowing a few odd words of french and gaelic.
Sketching - Although she's hardly a full-fledged artist and remains very shy about her work Emery likes to spend her spare time drawing and she has a fair amount of talent. In particular she likes to draw people and finds this far easier than still life, an opinion contrary to most.
History:
I'm asking for detail here, not everyone will be keeping their characters EXACTLY the same as Marvel has them (if you apply for a canon character), you're allowed to alter their history slightly, have them change sides, what ever you want, but everything must be here telling us WHY they have done this. Also, you may have to check back with players of other canons characters in case they have made references you thus need to include.
When applying an original character (always a good choice), make sure to try and be as creative as possible. Make sure you put effort into showing why the character has become the way s/he had turned out to be, but note that a dramatic past doesn't always have to make a great character. If you've got a board full of depressed suicide candidates whose parents put them on the streets at their fifth birthday, it's kind of getting dull...
The history part is one of the most significant elements of your bio, so you want to put effort into it. A Poor history may lead to the application being rejected, yet in most cases, we will try to work things out with you, tell you what we think needs improving.
Personality:
Although Emery often appears unimposing and does not seem to stand out in a crowd she opens up as a person gets to know her and is quickly revealed to be a quick-witted yet very grounded individual. Emery's grandfather always said she "had her head screwed on tight" and didn't get lost among the clouds like some other young women. Practical and, for the most part, calm she is able to act sensibly in situations that cause others to panic. Her propensity for calm is perhaps part of what is appealing about her.
While rational and likeable Emery is not without her faults. She is immensely stubborn and when her mind is made up it is impossible for any force on earth to change it. She tries to act as though she doesn't mind being without a mutant power and sometimes she is very content with herself but at other times she feels jealousy towards her siblings and even a certain deep inadequecy in a family sense. She would never admit to it but a part of Em believes that her parents love her siblings more and that they could never quite identify with their homo sapien daughter who was so contrary. There is a part of her that wishes she too were a mutant.
She may have inner fears that even she doesn't fully realise but Emery is a fairly balanced person. She is confident in herself, although like any normal person she worries from time to time, and she has a reasonably strong moral center. When she doesn't believe in something she is prone to state her opinion although she doesn't make a big fuss and is not the type to start something although she will encourage others and help if asked.
When it comes to anger Emery has a very long fuse. She can take a great deal and keeps her fears and upsets inside but tension eventually begins to show and she may snap at people for seemingly no reason. At somepoint one tiny thing wrong will set her off and she'll explode in tears or some other culmination of emotion.
The majority of the time she is a very calm person though who makes an excellent listener and observor and who can be quiet but is not neccessarily what could be considered shy. She can be a very private person when it comes to personal things and Emery prefers to hear about other people than to share information about herself. She keeps her sketches and any writing she does to herself.
Likes:
Animals - she likes cats but has an allergy. Luckily her allergy does not extend to dogs so she is a dog person by default but admires cats from afar. When it comes to animals she fears very few of them, not even the "creepy crawlies" like spiders that make her younger sisters quake in fear.
Food - Emery's rule is that she will try anything once and she enjoys both the cooking and eating sides to food. She seems to gain little weight from what she does consume and this may contribute to her interest in food.
Cultures - Emery has a marked interest in different cultures and especially in their languages. She has a natural gift for tongues and spends some of her free time learning and practicing those she knows. She would love to travel one day but has never left the United States, much to her disappointment.
Children - Although some people don't care for children and find them irritating Emery, who has three younger siblings that she helped out with, has always liked kids and she gets on well with many of them. This is in part because she listens to them and talks to them as equals and doesn't talk down to them.
Dislikes:
Being Human - Although she mostly keeps this bottled up inside Emery wishes she were a mutant because not being so separates her from her family and creates a gap in understanding.
Nosy People - Emery values her privacy and while she doesn't mind curiosity she doesn't like people who butt into the business of others rudely and without asking.
Crying in Public - She doesn't do it often but every once and awhile it happens and she always hates when she does it.
