Appearance:
Ewan is a young white British male, he has medium-long dark brown straight hair that is cut round his face. He has a strong jaw and a small goatee on his chin. He has deep brown eyes that have darkened slightly since his powers kicked in. Ewan is an average height from his age and has a medium build, although he does not work out like some he does take pride in his appearance, ensuring his weight isn’t to high or to low.
Ewan speaks with a clearly British accent, but it is nothing extreme; he is not a cockney from oliver twist, but neither does he speak the Queen's english. The accent is clearly english but nothing extreme and no obvious regional twist.
Powers:
Enhanced Vision:
Ewan has the ability to shift his eyes physically to view different eye light wave lengths, specifically he is able to shift to a form of night vision as well as heat vision on top of his usual human sight. When Ewan shifts to night vision he is able to see clearly through any darkness, although the vision is not as focused he is able to define who and what is moving in the darkness around him. When Ewan switches to his heat vision he is able to see people through solid objects as long as their heat signature is strong enough to glow through that object. One weakness to this is that if a person makes themselves the same temperature as their surroundings Ewan is practically blind to them. Ewan still has not gained complete control over his sight shifts, from time to time finding that his vision shifts to one of the other forms his eyes can perceive.
Confidence Visualisation:
The one unique vision form that Ewan has is the ability to alter his eye sight to see a physical ‘aura’ of a person’s true and false confidence. When he switches to this what he sees stays generally the same except that glowing around the person is a coloured aura is the confidence that that person is trying to show. Dull colours show a person showing a lower confidence than that of someone who has brighter more vibrant colours showing greater confidence. As well as this a second coloured aura glows from within the person that shows their true feelings of confidence with a similar colour key. This means that Ewan is able to see how a person is truly feeling even when they are putting up an extremely effective front, although this is not a true form of empathic abilities he is able to see when a person is trying to hide what they are truly feeling behind a facade.
Confidence Manipulation:
In tune with Ewan’s confidence visualisation, Ewan has the ability to manipulate that same feeling of confidence that he can see when looking into a person. He is the ability to enhance or reduce the confidence an individual or group. His abilities are much stronger if he is focusing on a single person, if an enemy is in his sights he can force doubt into their mind, make their confidence in their own abilites and themselves temporarily diminish making them a much easier target for Ewan allies, alternativly he could focus on a team member that needs added mental strength, by increasing their confidence. As mentioned earlier Ewan is able to effect a groups confidence level, however this aspect of his power is further undeveloped, although he is able to effect a groups confidence, currently it is at a marginal level, but will develope as he finds more focus in his powers. A person/groups base confidence does effect how effective Ewan's powers are; someone with genuinly high confidence takes more energy for Ewan to reduce; it can be done but to a certain extent at the moment a persons will can make it hard for Ewan to start to make them doubt themselves and reduce their confidence. This can also work with a group, especially if the group all have confidence in each other; it is at this point that Ewan would have to work on individuals as a group that is well balanced and work well together can drawn their confidence of each other, Ewan must find the weaker link and work them individually if his powers will effect the whole group.
History:
Ewan was born in Brighton to his parents Ben and Cherry Phillips, a couple that owned their own change of boutiques. His parents had studied fashion and design together at college in London and it was this passion that brought them together as a couple. When they graduated they moved to Brighton, both coming from opulent families they were able to set up their first boutique selling current fashion as well as their own designs. They lived in a house on the outskirts of the city and when Cherry fell pregnant it was down to Ben to run their store while she nursed they’re growing child.
When Ewan was born his mother stayed at home to care for him for the first year before work became to much for Ben to cope with on his own and she had to go back to work; owning a second shop now. Ewan was cared for by a nanny during the day and then by his parents in the evenings. He never wanted for anything as his parents gave him almost anything he wanted; spoiling him a little bit, his mother mainly through a slight sense of guilt for leaving her child while he grew up.
His parents were there for his first day of school, by this age they were able to hire managers for their stores to cover when they weren’t around. It was immediately obvious to them that he interacted with all the other kids well, only a few tantrums when he didn’t get want he wanted but the teachers soon sorted that out, making it quite clear to him that this was unacceptable.
Ewan moved up to high school with no problem, his ability to gel into most social situations making it fairly easy for him to meet new friends and get on with his year group. This helped in class also, especially theatre where he seemed to be able to fall into most roles easily.
Ewan’s powers first started to manifest themselves when he had just started high school, at first he didn’t really think anything of it, the coloured aura appearing around others seemed like something natural to see and he soon came to realise that the colour and brightness of them tended to reflect how that person was feeling; and later he realized that it was more specific than that, that the tone and hue of the auras was reflecting how confident someone was feeling both in respect to what they truly felt and what they we’re trying to show; he soon learnt that a lot of the bullies while trying to come across all confident where the complete opposite inside and this helped him when someone ever tried to bully him, he knew exactly how to ignore them.
Ewan soon learnt how to turn his visualization off so he could see normally, this especially helped in large groups of people as the colours tended to get overwhelming and could cause him severe migraines. Through high school Ewan established a good circle of friends and soon came to realise how much he enjoyed going out with his friends and to a certain extent his grades suffered for it. His parents didn’t seem to notice, although they were proud of him they were always busy with their ever growing business and so as long as Ewan kept his grades reasonable and the school didn’t have anything to worry about then his parents allowed him a lot of freedom.
It was in his early teens that Ewan discovered the other side to his powers; his ability to effect others confidence to his advantage, whether it be increased or decreased. He still isn’t overly skilled with it and its strength diminishes when he attempts to increase or decrease the confidence of a group of people but he has gotten out of a few tight situations with it that his cockiness got him into. He first discovered it when he found himself getting angry with a guy in the cinema, they ended up in a row about talking through the film and as Ewan’s anger grew as did his confidence, not only that but the other guy seemed to flake more and more as Ewan’s rage was unleashed, he could see what he was doing as the aura around the man faded and went dull as he cowered back. He was frightened by this ability at first, fearing it to a certain extent as he didn’t want to unleash that feeling on people he knew and liked but it wasn’t until he realized that he could have the opposite effect, increasing peoples confidence, if he wanted.
He chose not to use it on his friends, those around him he was close to as he didn’t want to effect them permanently but he did use his visualization with them, making him a good listener and able to empathise with his friends; they soon realized that if they had a problem Ewan was often about to help them with it.
It was on his eighteenth birthday that he chose to reveal his powers to his parents; he didn’t have any outwardly obvious mutant traits, he wasn’t a different colour, he didn’t have fur, he didn’t look like the mutants always shown on the news, but he knew he was one, he knew as soon as he realized what he could do was different. His parents were receptive when he told them to his slight surprise. They told him that he was what he was and that they were happy with that, although Ewan couldn’t help but feeling if he was bright blue they may think a little differently.
As the end of the school year came Ewan learnt of an institute in New York that harbored and taught mutants not only about they powers but schooling to and he knew that was where he wanted to go. He brought the subject up with his parents and although they were sad he wanted to go so far they knew they couldn’t stop him, he had to go there and be with people similar to himself. The following month Ewan left Brighton for New York, he had contacted the institute to find out if he was eligible for a place and they were happy to take him. His parents were happy for him to leave, proud that he had made the decision for himself and told him he would always have a home in England. Ewan packed up his things, mainly cloths and study materials, taking only a few objects that he felt he wanted to put in his new room including a few photos of his parents and his friends.
He arrived in late night of the same day and as his taxi arrived at the gates to the manor something told him there was a little more than a school to this place, it was a haven. Getting out the taxi with his cases he entered the institute, he has now been there three months and has begun to fit in well, enjoying being with his own kind.
Personality:
Ewan is a very confident young man, and can sometimes come across a little arrogant when not meaning to. Because of this he finds it easy to connect with people he doesn't know and will happily chat to people in the street or that he meets in public; one reason why he has found it quite easy to make new friends when he needs to. Ewan is an accepting person, and will try with anyone as long as they tried back; his home town of Brighton is one of the most liberal towns in Britain and so he was brought up around a large selection of types of people and has come to accept people for who they are not what.
He has a great sense of pride in anything he does and can get frustrated when thing do not go as he planned. From time to time Ewan can be a little selfish, sometimes looking more for what he can get from a situation he finds himself in. Ewan is a compassionate young man and does try to do right by others, but sometimes he does get caught up in himself.

- Add something about his voice and way of moving, please.
- Would he be able to reduce someone of average to high self-esteem to a whimpering whiner? If so, is there a limit for the number of people he can do that with?
- Is he the type a guy who'd cheerfully talk to strangers? Any prejudices?
