Father's Day
He couldn’t believe she had done it. All right maybe he could After all Mystique seemed to make a speciality of walking in and ruining his life. But this was different. Way different and she was about to learn that there were limits to what he was prepared to take. Like messing with his kids. That was a no no even though people seemed to be having trouble getting that through their heads. How many would he have to kill before they finally got the message?
*Whoa Mustn’t think like that*. he told himself though every instinct urged him to do just that Kill all those who had dared lay hands on Connor whoever they might be. He had been down that road before when Connor and Madison had been kidnapped. Killing everyone he had found, leaving a scene of such carnage behind him that he had run from it unable to look his children in the face till the wildness and bloodlust had died from his eyes and his heart.
*And I was doing so much better* he told himself cynically* Hell last time I went after the kids I was so damned civilised that I let myself get captured just so I could find out where were they were. Great plan that turned out to be. Start of riding to the rescue and end up getting my butt saved by the very ones I was supposed to be saving. Not that Connor was for saving me at all come to think of it. At least Madi hung around to see I was OK. *
It was hard to believe that it had had only been what?....*three frigging days since the last kidnapping. I’m going to have Hank fit the lot of them with homing devices* he thought. Or maybe I should just have flyers printed and stick them up on lamp posts’ Lost one son Answers to the name of Connor. Sometimes. If he feels like it.. If found please return to…..’
To where? Home ? *Does he even think he has one of those anymore? * Logan asked himself bitterly.*Seems this is the only father son thing we have any more. He gets nabbed. I go and find him. Talk about quality time.*
He didn’t know how things had got this bad between him and his kids but he knew that the situation wasn’t getting any better and he had no idea what to do about it.. *Maybe if I had stuck around after they’d had the adamantine transplant that would have helped he thought but damn it I didn’t want them to see me like that. Like an animal, reeking of the blood. Even if it was the blood of the bastards who had done that to them Not much of a father figure by anyone’s standards you have to admit.*
Now, as he stealthily approached the Brotherhoods headquarters there was another problem to be faced. Arisa. What if she was part of this plot to take Connor? It was the only thing that held him back from busting in claws at the ready and cutting his way to where they were holding his son. He didn’t know how he would react if he came face to face with his youngest daughter
Since she had decided to take off and join her mother he had been forcing himself to let her have the chance to find out for herself where her future was. *Me telling her Mystique is an evil bitch isn’t the best way to convince her its true. That much at least I’ve worked out over the years. Now I suppose Arisa’s been able to see her up close and personal. Just hope she’s come to her senses.*
Still Arisa’s scent wasn’t as obvious as he thought it would have been. *Maybe I just got lucky and she’s not here.* he told himself, thought the information niggled at the back of his mind like a half felt toothache. *Smells like she’s been gone for a while though What the hell does that mean?*
*Focus* he told himself *Worry about one kid at a time will you.? Hell I’m getting so damned paranoid I could swear I smell Madison as well.last thing we need is for me to lose it now and God knows Im close enough to doing that as it is.*
He was near now, near enough to see the shadows moving backlit behind the shabby curtains *Looks like somebodies in* he thought with a grin. *Good Cos they sure as hell have got visitors. *
These were powerful mutants waiting in there but he didn’t care. He was Wolverine and anyone who had faced him knew that he wouldn’t stop no matter what they threw at him Not till they killed him and that was hard to do. Very hard indeed. Bounding up to the door, giving no time for any alarm systems they might have in place to stop him he kicked it in. “Honey I’m home” he yelled “Now let me see my kids”
There's just somethin' wild inside me pullin' me to do things I don't understand.
I can't figure it. It's like tryin' to explain desire.
Due to the failure on the island, the Brotherhood had been split in two, those who knew they failed, and those who felt they could have done better if they had been sent inside of the ones who went. It was sickening really, Phoebe toyed with her food, shifting the peas about the plate. What would her father think? Would he be ashamed if he knew she hadn't succeeded in the mission her mother set? So twisted were Phoebe's thoughts on what her father wanted that she couldn't even see who he really was, trying so hard to please the man but in the terribly wrong ways. It was so hard sometimes, so torn from one parent and yet still trying so hard to please him.
Three others at the old table chatting away, two more secluded to themselves and another two argued over missing snacks from the fridge. Blue hued fingers pinched the ridge of Phoebe's nose, letting out an irritable sigh as she pushed forward her plate and stood up. A flicker of electricity ricocheting off her blue flesh in tiny sparks as her irritated voice hissed out to the two by the fridge.
"Shut up." It was a threat as much as a command, the young Darkholme swiftly moving out of the kitchen. With all the noise around here, Phoebe didn’t honestly react at first when down in the front hall there rang a startled cry. It was however Logan’s deep bellowing voice that rang alarm bells moments later. Of course the X-men wouldn’t just sit back after getting ambushed, but it’s not like the X-men hadn’t had their fair chance to fight back, they won already, what’s with coming all the way here, just so they could rub it in?
“Now let me see my kids” A curious brow raised as Phoebe’s exquisite form moved into the front all, a dangerous feminine grace with every step. Poisonous lips which had seduced many fools in the past once again flourished into view. So sweet, so treacherously deceivable, faultless, brilliantly played with a tender perfection.
"By kids, dear Logan, that would suggest we have more then one of your beastlings." Phoebe started, a mental finger over her magnetic and electric abilities should Wolverine forget his manners. "Though I must say, clever ploy. I never would have imagined you to brainwash your flesh so well." It made perfect sense to Phoebe, at least the way she thought it out, it wasn’t true, but still, she blamed Logan for what Arisa had done, unaware that in truth it had been Madison. "Mother forbid Arisa to stay here after she ripped up the place, though I’m sure you’re fully aware of that… being her daddy dearest and all." There was a mocking tone, as if it was somewhere between Arisa being at his command and yet the shapeshifter already aware of Logan’s loss of respect amongst his children.

Re: Father's Day
To say that she was displeased would be an understatement. She was mortified that not even one of her chosen squad could bring down an X-Men. Therefore she had not been light on them when they had returned. However, it was merely words (violence could have discouraged them and that was the last thing they needed), yes they could scar and leave memories in the mind but that didn’t bother the shapeshifter. But it was seeing that her daughter had failed also that both angered and, somewhere, hurt Mystique. Her own child who was on the right side, all the others were on the X-Men, her only child she needed to have faith in, a failure. She was going to make it hard for her to get that back again.
Looking at her daughter, being in the form of one of the more secluded members, the blue-skinned woman shook her head. It would end up taking her a long time. Then the sound of the alarm went off, Mystique jumped to her feet and returned to her form as she placed calmly yet quickly to the front hall.
“Honey I’m home” It was only the Wolverine, she could handle this but it seemed her daughter was first here.
“Now let me see my kids” What kids? They were either banned like in Arisa’s case or banned because they were an X-Men. Why should he barge in here, set off the alarms and demand to see his kids?
"By kids, dear Logan, that would suggest we have more then one of your beastlings." The start of Phoebe begging to work some faith back, Mystique continued to let her daughter do the talking.
"Though I must say, clever ploy. I never would have imagined you to brainwash your flesh so well." It was true; neither did she expect Arisa to have done what she did. Didn’t matter now, it hurt her deep inside but it didn’t matter.
"Mother forbid Arisa to stay here after she ripped up the place, though I’m sure you’re fully aware of that… being her daddy dearest and all." Fists clenched in annoyance more than anything else, Logan knew that his children would be safe, so why was he bothering them? Well, all right, he IS an X-men.
“I did forbid her. She was lucky I let her off so easy after what she did.” She finally spoke; well more like had to yell over the alarm. “Phoebe, turn it off.” She said, giving the orders.
Meanwhile Madison had come home from the missions, not harmed from their little run in with the Brotherhood, to find her brother was missing… again. Not pleased with this the young Enright had decided to go to the one place that would have to have him; they were on the island at the same time. The Brotherhood.
Walking the streets in almost a run she remembered how she absorbed powers of shapeshifting and the like to become Arisa and fool Mystique. It was in good spirits though, at the time she wanted her back. Now she didn’t and she wasn’t so all was good. She smirked slightly.
Approaching they Brotherhood, she stopped. There was her father entering the Brotherhood. ‘Wonder what you’re doing here,’ she thought curiously. For years she years she had debated the thought of whether or not he loved his children or not, ‘he must if he’s come to save Connor.’ For years she has been in a battle to decide whether or not to hate her father just because Connor does or love him like she wants. For now though she merely admires him. ‘He must love us!’

Re: Father's Day
OOC I seem to remember reading somewhere that Mystiques shapeshifting powers keep her from aging?? If this isnt right let me know and Ill edit
.......................................................
*So far so good * Logan thought as the wrecked door slammed against the wall. He had half been expecting to have to fight his way through to Mystique but now it looked as if that wasn’t going to be necessary. Part of him, the part that had been wanting to tear throats ever since he had heard that Connor was missing was disappointed. His more rational side said that he didn’t have time to waste, especially not on the girl who rose to meet him. Phoebe. Mystique’s daughter.
*She’s got her mothers looks* he thought, watching her approach *and her sweet nature too from what I’ve heard. *" By kids, dear Logan, that would suggest we have more then one of your beastlings." she said with a smile that would have broken men’s hearts. . "Though I must say, clever ploy. I never would have imagined you to brainwash your flesh so well."* What??* What the hell was she talking about.? It didn’t make any sense.
"Mother forbid Arisa to stay here after she ripped up the place, though I’m sure you’re fully aware of that… being her daddy dearest and all." Now that explained it, not only her words but also the absence of any recent trace of the youngest Howletts scent that had been worrying him ever since he had set foot in the place.
He couldn’t keep the grin from his face *So Arisa busted up the joint did she* he thought with a certain degree of satisfaction. *Guess she’s more like her old man than shed care to admit* Still the question of where she was now wasn’t lost on him. *Great That’s two of them I’ve lost now. All the more reason to get Connor back as soon as possible And here comes just the lady I want to talk to about that.*
Mystique had entered the picture, standing just behind her daughter like a wary shadow. Complex emotions arose in Wolverine as he looked at her, hatred dominating as it always did. Hatred for what she had done to him and his family in the past, for what he suspected she had done to his son that very day. But also hatred of the undeniable effect her nearness had upon his body, arousing his senses as few other women ever could. *God she hasn’t changed since the first day I saw her*he thought * Every woman I’ve ever loved has aged before my eyes but not her . How screwed up is that*
He could see that she was annoyed, the signs easy to read. Her voice too betrayed her anger as she said “I did forbid her. She was lucky I let her off so easy after what she did.”* So it hurt did it. Having your daughter turn against you.Well good. Welcome to my world*.
“Phoebe, turn it off.” she snapped, the noise of the alarm obviously playing on her already frayed nerves. Not that it was exactly doing his sensitive ears any good either.
“Yeah kid Run along and do like your Mom says We’re trying to have an adult conversation here.”he said sarasticly taking a step towards the shapeshifter. “So Mystique you couldn’t keep Arisa, could you? Is that why you came after Connor?”.
There's just somethin' wild inside me pullin' me to do things I don't understand.
I can't figure it. It's like tryin' to explain desire.
Re: Father's Day
Pah, Loza didn't even know Mystique was gay *Acts as if she had known that before the hour she brought it up with Loza*
“Phoebe, turn it off.” Her? Why not one of the others? A scornful retaliation was quelled inside her since Phoebe was all too well aware of the fine line she now walked with her mother. The blue shifter turned only partially before Logan spoke to her.
“Yeah kid Run along and do like your Mom says We’re trying to have an adult conversation here.”
The words ripped through the air and smacked into her hard, a dangerous glare thrown over her shoulder as she turned to look back at the elder X-man. “So Mystique you couldn’t keep Arisa, could you? Is that why you came after Connor?”. A flicker of electricity ran between her fingers, which she clenched tightly before a stern hand pointed to one of the guys near the security box and signalled him to kill it. Silence fell, perfect, Wolverine’s ears would ring but they would ear every word she has to say.
"Ha! Look at him mother, so smug and proud, I bet he thinks he did well with Arisa. Well you didn’t, you treacherous dog. I think she liked it here, all smiles despite everything you put her through. You weren’t here to see your victory, it would have made you proud I’m sure, Arisa near tears because of you! This was her home, and you made her do what she did, Arisa wanted back, she played the innocent so well but too many saw her in the act. Or didn’t you ever wonder why, despite her doing as you commanded, she never returned to you and her X-home?" The pent up frustration of losing her half sister was obvious, but she hardly cared for traitors either, even if Arisa felt bad and still wanted to be with them, it just wasn’t possible any more. Phoebe looked at her mother, walking over towards her in a way that signalled that she would leave at the more flicker of her mothers hand. Obedience, loyalty… something that animal would never understand as far as Phoebe believed.
Usually her mother allowed Phoebe to toy with their enemies, to play around in the background, to pull their strings, and why would now be any different? Phoebe knew there were times were her mother would not tolerate it as much as others, Mystique was always so much more aware of her enemies then Phoebe was simply due to the years of experience which Phoebe lacked. Not that Phoebe was irresponsible, far from it, but she was also highly eager to see her prey suffer…
And so as Phoebe stood moved to stand behind her mother, refusing to leave her protection solely to those of these other misfits, the young woman allowed her form to change. From the extreme feminine physique she naturally possessed, Phoebe turned to that of Arisa’s brother, Logan’s son, red hair turning short and brown, her blue skin changing form, colour, in a rippling effect like her mothers. Bright eyes peering back at the intruder, a cynical stare that even Connor did not possess despite his anger towards his father.
"Very well… begin your civilised conversation. Mystique is waiting." A smirk spread over the now male features as Phoebe disappeared a little behind her mother, fists clenched ready and mind focused… should this ‘thing’ attack Mystique then he best be prepared to fight through her first!! Because unlike his family, the Darkholme’s were actually there loyal, Phoebe would die for her mother, and her mother knew it.
Re: Father's Day
ooc- Well, I don’t know EVERYTHING! And she’s bi, not gay…:P well depending what site you go on. Some say gay, others bi. Geesh, how are us role players supposed to work with info like that! Anyway as far as I know it's true Ann so we can go along with. Aaand, sorry it took so long! ^^”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Yeah kid Run along and do like your Mom says We’re trying to have an adult conversation here.” There would have been a ‘don’t come in here and start treating ’ look directed towards Logan, but the shapeshifter was not going to stand up for her daughter, especially while still angered at Phoebe’s failure.
“So Mystique you couldn’t keep Arisa, could you? Is that why you came after Connor?” Although there was a short glare when Arisa was mentioned, Mystique raised a brow, a slight curiosity filling her body, had Logan lost one of his children? She smirked slightly, she had been responsible for a lot of things that had been done to the X-Men but this was something neither her nor the Brotherhood had been responsible for. They could barely take on the X-Men in their mission let alone capture one. No, this was of someone else’s work who, Mystique thought, was just simply Connor growing tired of the ‘good fight’ and had decided to leave.
Or didn’t you ever wonder why, despite her doing as you commanded, she never returned to you and her X-home?" Mystique knew that her daughter was frustrated with Arisa’s betrayal, she too had been angered with it but she had gotten over it. Water under a bridge. She did not let it get in the way of things, as she feared it would for Phoebe, who showed her feelings towards this matter in her tone.
But what Phoebe had said was true, this was her home and she was forced to ruin that. Forced by those X-Men she refused to return to. Mystique was a cunning one, she knew what to do to see if her daughter was back at the institute or not. From what she had gathered Arisa was nowhere near there to be seen.
While she would have preferred to be alone in this nice lovely chitchat she was stopped from shooing her daughter away as she shifted into Connor’s form. Head turned back to her front, leaving Phoebe to her toying around in the background.
"Very well… begin your civilised conversation. Mystique is waiting." She gave a smirk, from her daughter’s voice which would have bugged the Wolverine more than he let off.
“Connor, Connor, Connor...” she taped her chin as she mock-thought to herself on where he might be, she looked over her shoulder as if she needed to remind herself on what he looked like.
“Hmm… no Connor here. Think Logan, what could we possibly want with him?” All right a couple of things sprung to mind but that was beside the point. “They were there for training as your X-Men were and I’m afraid they did not come back with anything.” Still disappointed with the failure, it slipped through in her words.
“Have you thought that he might have run away? Yes, your children can run off as any normal parents child can.” She said coolly. The young run away from home for the slightest of reasons and, really, if Connor had done just that Mystique would not be surprised. Living with the X-Men shouted that you needed no reason.
Mystique turned and took three steps before saying, “Oh, and I would prefer it if you loose that last child of yours you do not come barging in here and accusing me, as much as I am honoured you thought of me first!” without turning around to face Logan before resuming her pace and grew nearer to the exit of the entrance.

Re: Father's Day
Jeeze did the kid never shut up? It wouldn’t be so bad if what she was saying made any kind of sense but from where he was standing it was just so much noise. Victory? Commands? Some bullshit about him and Arisa. *She said Arisa cried* That much he did take in, the idea that he was somehow responsible for her tears an additional pain added to his worry about Connor. Damn it! No matter what he tried to do it seemed that he still ended up hurting her. Even though he couldn’t understand how.
And it wasn’t just her words that were irritating. A low growl broke from him as Phoebe’s form changed into a mocking parody of the son he was so desperately seeking, followed by the unmistakable sound of adamantine claws extending as his anger surged.* Easy* he told himself *Something’s wrong here. This whole thing doesn’t feel right. I can’t afford’ to lose it till I find out whats going on.*
"Very well… begin your civilised conversation. Mystique is waiting."*She sounds like a frigging secretary* Logan thought irritably *And the word I used was adult Theres never been anying remotely civilised in my relations with Mystique*
From the expression on Mystique's face she felt just the same “Connor, Connor, Connor...] she murmured teasingly “Hmm… no Connor here.”*Lying bitch* The words sprang readily to his mind but somewhere deep inside doubt had already begun to creep in.
"Think Logan, what could we possibly want with him?” she went on, her voice as seductive as he remembered it. *What does anyone want with my kids?* Wolverine thought savagely *To hurt them. To rip them apart and find out what it is that makes them tick. Same thing as they want with me.* .
“They were there for training as your X-Men were and I’m afraid they did not come back with anything.” The bitterness that seeped out in her words convinced him more than anything else she could have said. Mystique admitting failure? Shed never have done that if she really had his son in her power No if she had Connor she’d have gloated, she’d have made him crawl or fight to get him back, anything but this casual irritable dismissal.
“Have you thought that he might have run away? Yes, your children can run off as any normal parents child can.” she went on as if they were having a conversation over tea and biscuits rather than standing on the remnants of what had once been her front door. Run away? Arisa had run away but not Connor. It wasn’t his style Especially not in the middle of training. Whatever things may be like between him and his father Connors devotion to his team was unshakeable. Unless….
Logan had been so sure that the brotherhood was behind his sons disappearance that he hadn’t looked into any of the other possibilities. But Connor had run away in Harmony hadn’t he?. He had even turned against his own friends, fighting like a madman till they had managed to overcome him.
Could that have something to do with all this? Logan asked himself. His senses continued to tell him that Connor wasn’t in the headquarters even if they argued that Madison had been. Something else he would have to ask her about when they talked, if they ever did that was. Suddenly communicating with his kids seemed like a bigger challenge than taking on the Brotherhood. Not that it felt as if he was going to have to do that after all. Mystique certainly didn’t look as if she was shaping up for a fight
“Oh, and I would prefer it if you loose that last child of yours you do not come barging in here and accusing me, she added turning her back on hm as she made her way across the room "as much as I am honoured you thought of me first!” Very coolly done he had to admit but then again Mystique had never been lacking in courage.
“Guess I was a little off track” he admitted with a short laugh “Should have known from their performance on the island that your goons couldn’t take Connor much less hold on to him.” He glanced around the ruined hall cynically before adding “Thanks for reminding me of that.”
There was no point in staying now, his children were the only thing that had drawn him back to this woman, without their presence there was nothing left to say.The half forgotten claws retracted as he made headed for the exit "No need to show me out." he said casually "Looks like the door's already open. "
There's just somethin' wild inside me pullin' me to do things I don't understand.
I can't figure it. It's like tryin' to explain desire.
Re: Father's Day“Guess I was a little off track” Mystique stopped in her confident steps. She knew that there was more to be said. It wasn’t like him to be ‘off track’, even just a little.
“Should have known from their performance on the island that your goons couldn’t take Connor much less hold on to him.” She turned around but no words she could have retaliated with could hide from the truth. They had failed, one even failed to show up! Angered her as his truth-filled words had, Mystique kept her cool. There would come a time when the Brotherhood would be back at its former glory. A little more time and training and they would be there... okay maybe a lot of time and training was needed for them to become strong, focused and powerful mutants. And even more time for them to gain the respect of their leader.
“Thanks for reminding me of that.” ‘And thank you for bringing up the failure,’ She thought childishly yet angrily to herself. That thought and that the Brotherhood had failed was what kept her at bay. Too angry at herself for letting weak mutants out like that to be angry at anyone else. Even she was surprised with that.
Madison had remained where she had. Silent to hide the fact that she was there even though her father held unbelievable senses. She herself had used them before, absorbed from mostly Connor and would have used them at this moment if it hadn’t been for the fact her father was juuust out of reach for her to absorb the senses. She cursed to herself under her breath, she was unable to hear what was said.
Unable to hear a word and unable to see inside, through the barged down door, from the angle she was on Madison had to leave everything to her imagination. Words would be exchanged, a fight would break out, Connor would be brought back...
She smiled to herself; surely a fight was underway by now. So she moved a little to get a good view and jump on in if she was needed though she doubted that she would with as much strength as her father had.
"No need to show me out." Now her father had moved just into the spot for her to absorb his powers. She smirked softly until she noticed no Connor. ‘Like he cares about us, he did nothing to bring him back!’ the thought angered by the disappointment that her father had failed to bring back Connor.
That was until she sniffed the air. No sign of Connor here. She looked down to the ground. If he wasn’t captured where was he?
"Looks like the door's already open. " A glare escaped from the shapeshifter. No she had to remain calm, set an example for the Connor look-a-like. Temper losing remained for the failures of the Brotherhood. For someone like Phoebe, not here and now.
“Can’t wait to see you again Logan,” she said coly with a smile. By then the weak would be strong and able to take out the X-Men and all the little humans that they passed along the way.
Noticing Logan was moving closer to the door Madison bolted. She couldn’t just casually make herself shown and walk home with her father. Nuh uh. It was better for him to think she was back at the Institute terrorizing some poor innocent soul to take out her frustrations. Well, it was better that she thought that.
