Fave later albums

I don't like making choices like these 'cos I tend to change my mind on a weekly basis, especially just after playing one of the albums.

Right! - I'm going to be decisive and plump for either, errrgh, Babylonandon/Frank or Ridiculous.

See, I just can't do it, can I? :o

Hmmm . . . Hard to choose. I think it's probably Play - that was the first album I bought after falling for ESS, so it'll always have a special place in my heart. :) It's just such a great album - not one dodgy track on there!

Another vote for Frank here (appropriately enough).

Play is probably the most complete and accomplished later album, but I think there's something more engaging about Frank. Maybe it's the Jools influence. They always seemed to have that something extra special about them as a band with him around.

Re: Fave later albums
I'd have to go for Ridiculous, if only for the fact that the opening chord makes my stomach turn somersaults. And there's Walk Away....and This Summer....Temptation for Love....

But I love SFP, Play and Frank too. If I had to chose a desert island one I'd have to hope I could take a home made compilation. I just wouldn't be able to cope with the dilemma of choice between that lot.

Does anybody like Domino?

Yes, I do like Domino. Though I pick my time carefully to listen to this album or it can have the effect of making me feel rather sad. I suppose that's possibly due to the personal perspective some of the songs are written from ?

Highlights for me are Play On, Sleeping with a friend, In the Morning and To be a dad.

The title track from Domino is awesome - as is Without You Here. I guess each album has a special place - and yes, while Play is slick and extremely well produced, I like the live sound of Frank, too.

And I'm sure it's no surprise that it's my favourite album cover, either. :b

There are bits of Domino which are so good, I agree. But it does have an unfinished and rather sad feel to it too. Some of the tracks on there fail quite spectacularly, while others are quite beautiful songs worthy of the Squeeze of old.

I would say "Some Fantastic Place" for the title track alone one of their most glorious tunes except the second half (except for pinnochio) is not quite as good.

I like unpretentitous early Squeeze sound of Domino a lot....these days I listen to that one a lot.
