Has to be Maidstone I'm afraid (yes, it's more than mere coincidence that I use this name!) I like your choices too though, especially Laughing in my Sleep. Didn't that come from the same mandolin train of thought as Maidstone? That was around the time of Play too, I think.
Re: Favourite B Side?
Never There was a B side on one of the This Summer CD's Maggie. It nearly made it onto my list, but instead I've gone for:
Periscope
All's Well
Who's That
Is That The Time
I notice Laughing In My Sleep on your list Vikki... Nice mandolin and weird lyrics even by Difford standards! My personal favourite being, "When I turn over, I discover that she's there like a sausage roll".
I'm new - welcome me!

Re: fave b-sides
ok, i know it's taken me ages to make up my mind on this one, and bear in mind i'm fairly new to the music, so haven't heard that many of them, but from all the ones on the cd that came with big squeeze (ie, the only ones i have heard) i think i like model best
also like vanity fair (who doesn't?) and introvert
Re: fave b-sides
Maggie: Yeah, I think there were two different mini box sets released for each single - let me know what you're missing and perhaps I can get them to you.
Porg: Vanity Fair features on East Side Story and you're right, it's a beautiful. Same with Introvert.
B sides
I love Periscope, what a belter. It's definitely my fave B side cause of that addictive guitar lick and ultra creative chorus (how did they come up with that?!).
Maidstone's excellent, such a wonderfully warm atmosphere! the lyrics are spot on too. Whereas most of Squeeze's B sides are raw masterpieces, I really think Maidstone is flawless and don't know why it didn't make an album.
Re: B sides
I can't believe I missed Maidstone off my site. D'oh.
I think I have to give Periscope another listen, you know. It's one of those tracks that has never done too much for me, but since everyone raves about it, maybe I missed something . . . ?
