Prince Valiant 1997

A kitschy live-action version of Harold R. Villains Lumley (of "Absolutely Fabulous" fame, as Morgan Le Fey) and Kier (as Sligon the Usurper) battle desperately to out-evil one another, and the dramatic pacing stays true to the source material's cliff-hanging hamminess.

A fifth girl, plump and insecure, agrees, but they end up making out under the bleachers. When a group of school bullies catches them, the girl claims that Jeremy attacked her. This causes them to strip off his clothes and beat him up in front of the entire school. Flash forward to 2001. We meet the five girls who were in that school gym: Kate (Marley Shelton), Paige (Denise Richards), Shelly (Katherine Heigl), Lily (Jessica Cauffiel) and the formerly plump Dorothy (Jessica Capshaw). They are all in their 20's now and trying to sort out their love lives, which is appropriate, since Valentine's Day is coming up. After a disastrous date with a loser, one of the girls, a pre-med student, is murdered by a Cherub-mask wearing killer who sent her a death threat in the form of a Valentine card prior to the attack. After the four remaining girls are reunited at her funeral, they all start receiving threatening cards and messages. At first they don't know who would want to hurt them, but eventually they figure that maybe Jeremy is responsible. Police records show that Jeremy has completely disappeared, so no one knows what he looks like. Could the formerly nerdish Jeremy have had plastic surgery and turned into one of the girls' handsome boyfriends? Who ever it is, the lone survivor has to put a stop to this spurned individual's murder spree before she, too, becomes a valentine to die for.

Marty will have a roof over her head until the spring thaw when she can return home. In the meantime, Clark's nine-year-old daughter Missie will have a teacher. As promised, the arrangement is strictly business. However, teaching Missie, who's still mourning for her mother, becomes as challenging as living with Clark, a young man cut off from his emotions. For three similar people, each grieving for a loved one who they've lost, comfort comes from sharing their pain and hardships. But is it enough to make two lonely spirits recognize what it is that they truely need and want? As the months and seasons pass, and Marty gets closer to the day of her departure, she finally discovers the meaning of courage, her inner faith, a love she never thought possible, and the bittersweet truth in her friend Sarah's sage advice: "Bloom where you're planted." Based on Janette Oke's cherished best-selling series of books, and written and directed by Michael Landon, Jr., this inspiring love story of a more innocent time is illuminated by the same warmth and wisdom that made Little House on the Prairie such enduring family entertainment.

Wuthering Heights 2003

This movie sets the story in modern times and in America. Like in other modern adaptations such as "O" and "Scotland, PA" they have changed the character's names to modern names close to the original names. Heath(Heathcliff) gradually becomes a rock star. (SPOILERS) Like several versions of this story it ends with Cathy having the baby and then dying, only this time before she dies she tells Heath the child is his. And then we see that Heath is happily raising the child. It is also a more shallow love story. Wuthering Heights is a great story. The only version worth owning is the 1992 version the outstanding actor Ralph Fiennes made his real performance debut. If you want to see good modernized old story rent "O" (Othello) or Leonardo DiCaprio's "Romeo and Juliet".
