First Long Trip a Total Success
:rollin
Hi all, we just returned today from a 10 day trip from Fort Worth Texas to Branson Missouri and Eureka Springs Arkansas. Following behind us on treacherous mountain roads was our new 316rls Open Road 5'er. We couldn't ask for a better ride and trip. Traveling over tight stretches on narrow mountain roads and bumpy rough terrain, the Open Road traveled like a champ. Nothing fell out, no drawers opened, the only thing that happened is our towels fell off the towel rack in the bathroom during a sudden stop and a few things became dislocated in the pantry. We can't praise Pilgrim enough for a wonderful vacation with our Open Road. I hope everyone has the same luck and enjoyment. Our dealer has been more than wonderful helping us with minor problems. My husband tightened the lag bolts under the floor and completely removed the creaks and cracks. He put a light silicone paste around the shower base and totally eliminated the small leaks we had. So other than that, we totally praise the Open Road people for a wonderful trailer. We are going to the August RV show here and may trade up to a bigger Open Road. Have fun on the Road all and travel safely.

our first long trip (second trip out)
We went up to NC for 10 days (2,100 miles round trip) and had a few problems.

We found most of the problems on our first trip out, and a few more here. Also found a few things Open Road needs to make design changes on.

We'll be bringing our unit back to the dealer for the new items, and will have to give Open Road and call and go over the re-design items.

Nothing major, just minor things, like before.

The only real interruption was having to replace the unirversal joints in the truck. Heard them grinding one day while driving up a steep and winding gravel road (our 357 RLDS was at the campground), so I stopped at a Ford dealer and had them replaced (no tools with me). Spent 4 hours at the dealer (while that seems like a long time, down here, we would have had to drop the truck off in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon, so this emergency pit stop still beat being stuck all day without the truck. And it sure beat having the drive shaft fall out later.
