First Steps (GSF training)
(OOC: To those who wonder, the GSF meeting was held earlier than the Exiles one and so their initial training was… or will be already done when Aurora arrives/d)

Welcome, identification started…

The automatic doors slid close behind her slender form as soon as she had passed. The computer’s voice greeted her as usual, a procedure always repeated although – as she had noticed – Aurora tended to alter it a little once in a while when she had nothing to do so that it wouldn’t get too boring and predictable for those coming to the Danger Room frequently for training purposes.

Identification complete.
Class: team leader, X-Man, teacher
Access restrictions: no in-depth programming

This last line had kept her confused for some time since she could create scenarios and adjust basically everything to the purpose she had but after having talked to the fiery mutant who – as one of the few having extensive knowledge about computers - had taken over the responsibility for everything concerning Cerebro while Forge was away, she knew what it meant. The things Ororo were doing were a user’s settings, nothing more. Programming on the other hand was what was actually behind those actions she could take, the complicated part that made a holographic enemy what it was, let it appear and added a certain intelligence to it.

Session start?

It was always funny to hear this artificial voice try and rise when posing a question. It was this one of the very few occasions when you actually noticed it was not a real person speaking and even then you could only hear it at the beginning of the last word of the sentence when suddenly the stress changed slightly.

”No,”
was the weather witch’s simple reply as she entered the actual trainings room knowing that her following commands would be accepted from there as well while she was not inside the control room through which one had to pass when entering unless one took the side exit.
”Restrict computer access during the following session to myself. Preload scenario Epsilon 6, level 10, life guard mode on,”

The life guard mode was something about whose installation Storm was more than just glad about. Once enabled, it was impossible for the weaponry or any artificial enemy to injure anyone inside the room heavily. In earlier times, training on a very high level could actually mean a life and death situation if getting distracted or tired, especially at times when there was no way of controlling Cerebro from the inside but just via control panel. Exercising on your own was not an option, there had to be always at least one other person setting the scenario and ending it. Yet now, even if the intercom to Cerebro got damaged, the enabled life guard setting would prevent any dangerous harm from being done. It lowered the risk when training with beginners, although the low level made severe injuries almost impossible.

*You never know…*
Ororo thought while putting her cape back on and waiting for her team to arrive.

Re: First Steps (GSF training)
Ever since she had first stepped through the doorway of the Danger Room, Madison had fallen in love with it. Since then there hasn’t been a week where she has not gone in there and trained, even during her few months of slacking off from her usual training she still managed to find herself walking down through the restricted areas to enter the Danger Room.

She pitied those who didn’t know of this place since they missed out on all the fun, at least that meant less people hogging it at the times she wanted to use it. It was quite often that Madison would drag some innocent mutant down here just to cure her boredom, even on the odd occasion of bringing someone down there that wasn’t supposed to know of the Danger Room which led to her getting in trouble, but most of her training was against Connor, Frost or Shalimar since those were the two mutants she despised the most and nothing beat beating them in the Danger Room. Beating them didn’t happen too often though since the girls were of equal strength and it would on most occasions end in a draw.

Having left the War Room, the young clawed mutant had decided to get changed for the Danger Room. After all, she could barely train in jeans and a jumper, they were way too flappy and slowed her down so Madison changed into her black leather pants that she felt comfortable in when training. The younger Enright had been through quite a few training uniforms since she always trained herself hard and quite often they’d be ripped from training or an opponent or even by her claws sliding out on their own. Not feeling like wearing her usual uniform top, she placed a black Singlet on instead. It was tight enough to cling to her body and not wave about from any motion around her, just the way she liked her training uniform to be.

After getting changed she made her way down to the ‘restricted areas’. The name it was given almost made her laugh since it wasn’t restricted for her, even when she was younger and not placed upon a team but that’s probably what you get when your father is one of the X-Men. However, once she entered the corridor that led to the Danger Room, Madison continued past it. She hadn’t forgotten her way, she’d remember the route there even if she had lost her memory, but she had wanted to go to corridor that had the memorials for fallen X-Men.

Madison paid virtually no respect to any of the living, but some of the dead here she couldn’t help but idolise. If there was any way in going, it may as well be in battle. Though, Madison knew that not all of them had died fighting for the good of the world, but from other things like her mother had. Michelle Enright had been attacked by a group of mutant haters and wasn’t able to save herself, she was luckily brought back to the institute so she wouldn’t be left to die on the streets and Beast had done his best to try and save her but there wasn’t much that even he could do to save her. At least Madison had been able to see her mother before she died. Along with Connor and even Arisa, who had found Michelle more of a mother than Mystique who had abandoned her daughter after her birth, she never left her side until she had died and they were only taken away because Logan had forced them to leave.

Looking up at her mother’s uniform that was very much like Madison’s, well most of the uniforms were similar but Madison had wanted hers to be exactly like her mothers, her eyes then darted to the picture of Michelle, smiling as usual. A twang of guilt struck Madison, it always did when she looked at her picture since she had a feeling that her mother would not approve of the person who she was today. She wanted to please both her parents so much, but her mother died and before that her father distanced himself from his three children so Madison never really had the chance to do so. She had never told anyone of the guilt that she felt, or even of the desire to please others but if anyone knew it would probably be Connor since he could read her easier than a book.

After a few moments, Madison gave a nod to the picture as if recognising her mother and telling her that she’ll one day make herself a daughter to be proud of and began to retrace her steps as she went back down the corridors towards the Danger Room.

The doors slid open and Madison looked around to see if any other of the Gold Strike Force members were there. Though, only Storm was to be seen. That suited Madison perfectly since she liked to be the first to training sessions. She wondered with amusement for a brief moment if the new members would find their way to the Danger Room. She knew Frost would, but what about the one that didn’t even know what the Danger Room was? There was a slight shake of the head as she concluded that she’d be surprised if the girl, Angela if she remembered right, would get here.

Re: First Steps (GSF training)
After walking a way with Taylor and some of the other team members, Nadzieja had decided to excuse herself, leaving for her room to get changed. Unlike the X-men, she did not feel comfortable sporting close-fitting clothes. Her powers were such that whatever was touching her could pass just as easily through the solid object as her body. Sitting on the side of her bed for a moment, she counted silently to ten before getting up and opening the door. Hope headed off to the danger room with purposeful strides and, she noticed with relief, did not see any of the other team members on the way.

Nadzieja stepped up to the door of the Danger Room with a sense of awe. She had been to the training room before, many years ago, but had always chosen to attempt the use of her powers outside in the grounds. This was not only due to the fact she loathed the unnatural things within the training centre, but also because she did not like an audience when she put her powers to use. Taking a deep breath as the doors slid apart, Hope entered the Danger Room.

Only two people were inside, and she was surprised to note that Taylor and his other friends had yet to arrive. Storm stood at the centre of the room, obviously waiting for the rest of her team to arrive. The other person she recognised, but did not know. The dark haired girl looked about the same age as herself. She was undoubtably strong, both physically and willfully. Meeting her eyes, Nadzieja quickly lowered her gaze to the floor and walked a short distance away, staying clear of the steel walls that would cause her to have a severe allergic reaction.

The silence was deafening as the three of them waited. Hope had the horrible feeling of being trapped; there was no way she could even attempt to pass through the walls of the big training room. Trying to shrivel up into herself, Nadzieja waited impatiently, hoping that either things would get better or they would all realise that her being there was a mistake.

Re: First Steps (GSF training)
Taylor had quickly walked over to the danger room with Angela, as they had walked with Hope she had mad her excuses and left them to walk the rest of the way on their own as she wished to go back to her room and change. Taylor had offered her a friendly smile as she left and the remaining two began the rest of the walk through the winding underground corridors that would lead to the immense room that was going to be their place of training. He was a little nervous about training, he had been through a number of training sessions with groups recently but this was his first one with GSF and although he had trained in the danger room with Madison, Frost and Angela before, he wanted to make an impression on the rest of the team that he could be trusted when needed; especially to show Storm.

The walk had been fairly subdued, Taylor was relaxed around Angie now and was willing to just allow small talk to slowly pass between them much like he would with Sean or Ben. Although Storm had been quite insistant that they got to the danger room quickly he discovered halfway through the pairs walk that they had taken much longer than they should have, in fact he wouldn’t be surprised if Hope had made it to the room before them; he had got completely lost in the inconsequential small talk that had so easily been passing between them that he hadn’t noticed the time. He smirked at Angela, a little embarrassed as he liked to be on time and not much was able to get in the way of that impulse but somehow the level of ease Angie had put him at had allowed him to completely relax. Taylor tried to hide the twinge of embarrassment he felt but knowing of his friend empathic abilities would most likely make his attempts completely inert.

Taylor had to make sure that his quickening powers wouldn’t kick in as the pair walked quickly up to the danger room, if they did Angela would have had no chance at keeping up, they quickly approached the large metal doors and flashing a grin of encouragement at Angie he pressed a panel that allowed the doors to open and the pair walk in briskly. Hope had indeed made it back here before them and stood a bit away from her was Madison and Storm. Admittedly the two more senior women were a little intimidating but Taylor had hoped that Hope would have been able to try and put her shyness back for a moment and attempt to interact with her team leader. Taylor caught Hopes eye and nodded at her with a soft smile, trying to encourage her to move closer to the other two as he made his way up to them. He turned to regard both Storm and Madison with a soft nod of the head, not speaking as the silence seemed to have dampened any chance of speech. He felt Angie appear next to him and stood and waited for Storm to speak.

In the moments where nothing happened the danger rooms immense atmosphere began to push a little pressure onto him, he needed to show his worth in this first training session and so the latent anxiety that often hid beneath his extroverted nature began to bubble up inside him and he had to mentally force himself to try and calm down and prepare before the others arrived and Strom activated the program.
