VOYAGER
Delta - T

This story is already up at STV, but to give this forum a start, I'm posting it here too. Hopefully everyone else will contribute to this forum as well. This is a short Voyager story.

Captain's Log, Stardate 48580.2:
The crew has not yet recovered from the disappointment at the Harry Kim
wormhole. Not only did the twenty-year time difference oblige us to not to use
the transporter to get home ourselves, but Tuvok's revelation that the Romulan
commander will die before delivering our personal messages to Starfleet has
depressed the crew even more.
"Set course for the Federation, Mr. Paris, warp three." Captain Kathryn Janeway spoke from her command chair. "Let's get out of here."
"Warp three, aye." Defying physics, the Starship Voyager flashed out of realspace, zipping away from the tiny phenomena which had caused so much trouble.
Turning to her first officer, she said, "Take over, Commander. I'll be in my quarters. Try not to disturb me for anything less than another wormhole." Commander Chakotay looked startled, then simply nodded and transferred conn control to his own station. Standing, Janeway headed for the turbolift. "Computer, deck six." only after the doors slid shut did Janeway allow herself to droop with disappointment. They had discovered a wormhole which could act as a conduit for a transporter signal to the Alpha quadrant. After successfully transporting the commander of a Romulan science vessel through from the other side, everyone was sure that home for the Voyager crew was a mere transport away. Their discovery that the passage led twenty years into the past had shattered their hopes. No one could risk disrupting the timeline. "Hold turbolift." Janeway needed time to calm down.

"Chakotay to Janeway." Sighing, she tapped her commbadge.
"Janeway here. You heard my order; this'd better be good." She knew her voice was harsh, but at the moment she didn?t care.
There was a short pause. "Actually, Captain...well, I think you'd better get back up here."
Startled, Janeway forgot herself for a moment. "Computer, reverse turbolift!"
The doors opened, releasing a now-composed Janeway onto the bridge. "Report!" Quickly navigating the bridge railing, she dropped into her seat and reclaimed the conn. Ensign Harry Kim, the young Operations Officer who had found the previous wormhole, spoke first. "I'm reading more verteron emanations, ma'am!"
"Cross check with our previous scan, see if there are any correlations. And call me 'Captain'." She returned to the center seat. "Sorry, Chakotay, it seems I jumped the gun a minute ago."

Re: First story of the forum
Chakotay waved aside the apology. "Anything, Harry?"
"Yes, sir. The readings are identical. Even the star field matches."
With a flash of déjà vu, she inquired, "This wouldn't happen to be similar to our encounter with the type-four quantum singularity, on stardate, ah, 48439, would it?" Then, Voyager had been trapped inside the event horizon of the singularity, and the distorted sensors had read the singularity directly ahead no matter which way they turned.
Tuvok, the Vulcan Security Officer said, "Not quite. In that incident, the navigational logs clearly showed that we had traveled some distance even though we apparently ended up in the same place. Now, there is no indication that we ever moved."

"All right, let's try again. Mr. Paris, lay in a course away from the wormhole on any heading, this time at warp nine. Tuvok, I want you manually monitoring the navigational logs. Mr. Kim, watch the sensors and our objective position. Bridge to Engineering: B'Elanna, keep an eye on the hull stress indicators, please." Janeway wanted to cover any possible source of data. As Voyager surged through subspace, silence fell. Then simultaneous exclamations sounded from every station at once, excepting Tuvok's, of course.
"Captain, we're back where we started. One second the wormhole was behind us, the next it just popped into existence ahead." Kim's voice carried a note of annoyance, possibly because the first anomaly named for him was acting so strangely.
"That is an unclear statement at best, Mr. Kim." Tuvok's voice held no indication of puzzlement, but one eyebrow stayed in continuous contact with his hairline. "Captain, nothing 'popped into existence". At a distance of approximately one point two six five light years from the anomaly, all indications are that Voyager was instantaneously transported through time to the exact position we occupied when speaking to the Romulan commander. According to the time index, he was transported back through the wormhole only moments ago."
" Time travel would be consistent with the stress monitors, Captain." Through the comlink B'Elanna Torres, the half-Klingon Chief Engineer, reported her observations. " The pressure distribution is similar to that observed in previous temporal anomalies."
"Is there danger to the ship?" Commander Chakotay still treated her like his responsibility. Torres had been on the Marquis ship he commanded, before its destruction forced them and many others to join Voyager.
" Unknown, sir. Captain...could I speak to you privately?"

Re: First story of the forum
As some of you know, this story is already completed. I'm just taking my time putting it up, since each part requires several changes to my format (replacing smart quotes with regular, etc.).

Re: First story of the forum
"Certainly, B'Elanna. I'll be in my ready room." Nodding to Chakotay, she crossed to the ready room. Only after the door hissed shut did she allow the sense of foreboding to enter her mind. Torres had made a similar request before imparting that it might be possible to transport to the Alpha Quadrant through the "Harry Kim" wormhole, as Lieutenant Paris had dubbed it. Janeway remembered Torres, breathless, saying, I didn't want to say this in front of the others because it might not work but it's possible but not certain but I think it will.... Torres had been right; the crew's depression had been doubled when the effort proved impractical. A minute later, the door chimed. "Come." Torres stepped in, looking somewhat apprehensive.
"Captain, the temporal stress has been present ever since we entered this area."
Janeway stood. "Why didn't you report this, Lieutenant?" Disapproval was evident in her stance, but her voice reserved judgement.
"I only discovered it when you asked me to monitor stress levels, sir--- Captain. Previously, the stress level was too low to trigger the automatic alerts. But Captain, the level has risen whenever we try to break away." She paused, seemed to make a decision, and then looked up again. "I have a theory. Suppose some unknown force has 'bonded' us to the wormhole. Most likely, this is the result of our transporter beam penetrating through time. I ran a magneton scan on the transporter circuits, and there are some residual chronometric shadows long after they should have dissipated."
"May I see the readings?" Torres handed her a PADD. Scanning it briefly, Janeway nodded to herself.
"Yes, it does sound like a remnant of our transporter signal still connects us to the wormhole, like a tractor beam. A temporal tractor beam, so when ever we reach its limit the ship is relocated to the point on the space-time continuum where the connection was made." She pondered the idea. "Its plausible, B?Elanna, but how does this help us?" The engineer always found a use for her suggestions, usually before voicing them.
