General Specifications We have "pre-built" this board based on the most common requirements we've seen from other ezboard communities. You are free to modify these specifications in any way, depending on your needs and preferences. Here is a brief review of the key starting specifications, which you can access and change by going to the "My Community" tab in your Control Center and clicking on the customization buttons: GENERAL SETTINGS We've set the board to be in English, with the time specification (the "clock" for timing and dating all posts and administrative actions) of GMT-8, or Pacific Standard Time. To change either parameter, simply click on the pull-down menu next to the item and select your preference. FORUM FIND SETTINGS We have set your board to be searchable -- meaning that it will appear in our Search feature. You will need to enter a description and keywords in the spaces provided. Click here for more information on Forum Find. If you would like to be "private" (not searchable), uncheck the box next to "Make My Community Searchable!" SECURITY SETTINGS We set "Registration Required" as the default for membership -- meaning that anybody can come to the community, but only those users who post become members of your board. Under the other security options, we've enabled Show Number of Members, Show Poster IP (provides administrators with the IP address associated with each post), Post Flood Safety Check (helps discourage spamming) and the Profanity Filter (note that you can add words to the filter). A final note -- notice at the bottom of the page is the link to the Log File, which you can review. It will log all the major administrative actions you take on the board (adding or deleting forums and topics, moving content, etc.). Security FAQs FEATURES SETTINGS We've enabled Table Borders and Alternate Column Colors to enhance the look and legibility of the board. We've enabled Who's Online, which will list all registered members of your community who are logged in at any given time. We've also enabled marketing features including Invite Friends (users can send emails to invite others to your board) and Email Topic (users can send emails with links to particular discussions). Click here for tips on promoting your community. We've limited the size of personal icons and photos in the Member Graphics section to preserve the look and feel of your board. |
