Hera gets her codename from her mutant abilities to manipulate the emotions of others, much like the Goddess Hera in Greek mythology who made Heracles a madman in order to force him to perform tasks of hard labour. Over the years she has gained great control over her ability making her a powerful and hard to resist mutant when she wants to be.
Geneve can manipulate the emotions of others, meaning that she has a version of partial empathy so that she is able to sense the feelings of others when she makes eye contact or a physical connection with a person. She can only be connected to as many people as she can be touching

Gen recieved her codename and nickname for two reasons, one was her powers and the other was her personality. Like the famously jealous and cold Greek Goddess Geneve is cold towards others, rarely warming up to people unless it benefits her in some way to be kind to them. She rarely makes friends but is popular enough due to her social status and an ability to turn on the charm when she knows it is needed. Geneve is well aware of her feminine appeal and has no problem flirting or kissing her way to the top or for information. She rarely forms lasting bonds or relationships with anyone that are considered sound and often her romances are solely about mutual need rather than anything resembling actual love. Gen is stubborn and fierce when need be and shows no weakness meaning that when scorned or when someone goes against her she is swift in dealing with and eliminating any problem. She has always been intelligent and sly with a quick tongue although her intelligence didn't exactly come through in her school grades. Gen is also an envious woman, often wanting what others have even when she's at the top and she may end up doing something or getting something just because she can or because she wants someone else to do without. While she does still have human feelings and a sensitivity about her this side is rarely shown for she prefers to appear strong and fearless to enemies and allies.
