Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
When they arrived at the main tunnel, the long underground driveway that lead to the outer world still so unfamiliar with Riley, even more now that he couldn't remember what little he had seen of it. It wasn't too far before they entered a door that lead into a huge garage packed with cars, it was like parking lot, so many all neatly filled into their own special places. It suddenly became very clear that many of these people - if not every single one of them - where very well off money wise, because many of the cars where of very high quality.

"Riley doesn't have a car, he doesn't like to drive." He doesn't? ..Now that was very odd, why didn't he like to drive? Graham wasn't about to start explaining that since it was lied to his parents that Riley died in a car crash, he has stubbornly avoided sitting behind the wheel.

"So just grab whatever and get out of here!" Forrest yelled as Jess and Kristin opened the doors for the car to get through, they'd have to hold off anyone else coming into here other wise Cat and Riley might get trapped in if someone closed the outer gates of the tunnel.

"Rye!" It had taken a moment before it clicked the dark guy was calling for him, but Riley allowed his eyes to linger on Catherine as she searched for a car before eventually looking over towards Graham.

"You take care of yourself, and of her, and.. and don't let anything hold you back, you want to do something, you go do it. You might not remember it, but you've been waiting a long time for this.." Riley blinked as Graham talked, weren't the others coming, how come they where staying if this place was trying to kill them? Graham took Riley's hand and shook it, Riley's eyes staring down at the unfamiliar hands in his grasp and then over towards Forrest was helping the girls.

There was a bang from above, Spike dropping out from one of the air vents he had crawled through in order to get away from one of the patrols searching for them, a rather proud grin on his face. He landed right on top of one of the expensive cars, the glass smashing from the impact, but too far away from the others to be dangerous.

"This lot aren't as bright as the ones back home." He replied more to himself, just loudly so the others could hear him as he jumped off the car, patting himself down as if he's done something important. Well he had, it was simple as that, he was fast enough to distract the patrols in close distances, yet easily able to flee before they got too dangerously close to him.

'So just grab whatever and get out of here!' Her eyes scanned quickly over the assorted cars and jeeps, she didn't have time to think much about which one she wanted to take. Her eyes flicked back to Riley, she wasn't best please with him, did he think she couldn't look after herself, however half way up a vent shaft hadn't seemed the best place for her to state that.

'You take care of yourself, and of her, and.. and don't let anything hold you back, you want to do something, you go do it. You might not remember it, but you've been waiting a long time for this.' She looked back at Riley, moving away from him towards the nearest and fastest looking jeep. She pulled the door of the hummer open, ignoring a flash of pain in her hip as she did so, it was rather a big step to get up into the military jeep.

She knew they must have the keys in here somewhere, incase they needed to use the jeeps really quickly. Her hands lifted instinctvley to the flap above her hed which when put down shielded drivers faces from the sun and often contined mirrors. (Bekki seemed to have an unhealthy obsession with them at times, constantly checking her hair was alright.) She was rewarded when there was a chinking sound as the keys fell into her lap.

For a top secret organisation they sure could be dumb, that was the first place to look for keys in a car. She sighed slightly, placing the keys into the ignition and turning.

'Hey, Riley, Spike ... come on.' Her eyes flicked nervously over to the doors they'd come from, if they didn't get the hell out of here this instant they'd be caught. She fiddled with the seat as they approached, sliding it forwards, whoever had driven this last had been a lot bigger than her. Her fingers drumming impatiently on the steering wheel as they clambered into the jeep.

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
With a final glance at the other strangers that.. Riley had to assume.. where his friends, he then hurried towards the car Cat had aquired. Spike scurried quickly into the back, Riley hesitantly moving into the front passanger seat, his eyes scanning over the inside of the hummer.

"Uh.. you can drive, right Nibb-.. I mean Cat?" He corrected himself quickly, last thing Spike wanted to do was agitate her by calling her any nicknames that where now simply a habit he was finding very hard to break. Riley looked nervously over at Catherine for a moment, but she had this sort of fiery determination in her eyes and presense that easily hinted was perfectly able to handle herself.

"She wouldn't have sat there if she couldn't." Riley replied glancing up at the mirror, only just remembering that it'd be impossible to see Spike in the back since he didn't have a reflection.. it was also kinda eerie.. Spike shifted about slightly.. he didn't mean to sound insulting, he actually just wanted to be prepared for what was to come.. There was a 'click' sound when Riley buckled in his seat belt, but then a soft mumble as Riley sat up against the back of the seat, turning his attentions outside the window.

"Well.. look at that, still remember how to buckle in at least." Now it was obvious more then ever that he was upset no one was telling him anything, and he still had the feeling she wasn't going to explain things to him while they where speeding off. Maybe she didn't want him to know, maybe.. maybe he did do something terrible, maybe he did something that forced her - being his partner - to help him escape from the people shooting at him. Because the others - that didn't introduce themselves as his partners - didn't flee with him and these two.. so.. so what exactly was going on!?

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
'Uh.. you can drive, right Nibb-.. I mean Cat?' She shot him a glowering look from the front seat that plainly indicated that was like asking her if she could breath, her fingers turning the ignition as she pressed the button to scroll down the window. The wing mirror was in the wrong place for her to see out of it properly so she had to rest her elbow out of the window as she looked out in order to reverse the jeep which was as wide as a bus.

'Well.. look at that, still remember how to buckle in at least.' She pointedly ignored him, now wasn't the right time for her to decide to sit and tell Riley all that was going on, he'd have to wait just a little bit longer ... she still wasn't sure what she was going to say to him anyway.

'Thanks guys.' She called out to the four figures still in sight, her eyes flicked back over to Riley again, suddenly sorry that he was loosing his friends, even though he didn't seem to hold Forrest in too high regard. She would really have to decide on what to tell him.

Her eyes fell upon a sleek red sports car which was parked a couple of spaces down, her eyes narrowing slightly as she recognised the car. With a look of grim satisfaction that almost boardered on pure pleasure she put her foot down on the accelerator, feeling the hummer speed backwards in a rush of energy. Jon's red, shiney Mazda stood little chance against the military jeep, the hummer jolted to a stop, Cat's eyes looking at the now pitiful remains of the once beautiful car.

She didn't offer any explination to the others who sat in the car, her hand slamming the car into the correct forwards geer and pressing the accelerator down, the tyres squeeled in protest. She could feel a dull throbbing ache in the direction of her hip, clipping her safty belt in as she drove, her eyes upon the ground in front of the car. She was glad she'd managed to her her own back on Jon even if she wouldn't be here to see his face next time he came to try and use his car.

They shot into the enterence tunnel, she could feel the ground sloping upwards, the car warehouse diminnishing quickly from sight, realising too late how bright the sunlight would be once they reached the top.

Her eyes instinctivley scruntched shut against the glare of the spring sunlight, her hands lifting to reach over and pull open the glove compartment in doing so she had to half lean over Riley. She squinted down her hands pulling out several rather explicit male magazines which she glared at for a second before hurling into the back, giving Riley and Spike a black look as if the magazines belonged to them, finding the pair of glasses she was hoping would be there she shifted back from streatching over Riley's lap.

She slipped the glasses over the bridge of her nose, not caring if they were too big for her, then she put the hummer back on the correct side of the road before speaking for the first time.

'Spike ... where am I heading for?' Her eyes scanned the road ahead of her, things were passing them very quickly and she was finding it harder than usual to read the road signs.

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
'Thanks guys.' At Cat's call of gratitude, Riley's eyes slowly moved over towards the Agents that had helped them escape, he really felt like he was missing something, they all where watching Riley and co leave as if they where about to lose something very important to them.. and yet he had no idea who or what that was.. MAYBE it was him.. that dark man had talked with him, and they do keep glancing towards him a lot, but maybe it was Cat's friends.. what if they where his friends? What if he never sees them again, and the last thing they see of him is someone who barely seems to notice they exist.

There was a sudden jolt in motion as Cat seemed to purposefully crush into one of the cars, smashing a wonderfully sleek red sports one. Riley's eyes very slowly.. and very carefully, turned towards Cat, Spike's hand over his chest as he also stared rather blankly towards the girl, but both guys had noticed the enjoyment she seemed to get from having done that.

Well it didn't appear as if Riley or Spike where going to discover any time soon whether that was a random act of insanity, cruel payback, or just Cat figuring out how to control the jeep. Riley was kind of hoping that it'd be option two of the three.. Riley's eyes where glued to the side mirror.. maybe.. just maybe if he looked back long enough, he might remember whom those people staying behind where..

The bright blast of light caused riley to cover his eyes with his hands, for some reason his eyes seemed sensitive to the brightness.. he didn't remember that's it's been days since he's been outside. Spike squirmed, shifting to the shaded side of the jeep quickly, Riley glancing back at him, again forgetting the vampire’s inability to deal with sunlight very well. But his eyes wondered back towards Catherine as she tugged open the glove compartment, why didn't she focus on driving and ask him to look for what ever she was searching for, glasses he assumed. When she glared at him after tossing almost angrily the adult books into the back, causing Spike to flinch when he was hit by one of them. Riley just stubbornly stared back at her, he didn't do anything wrong, he wasn't even interested in that kind of reading, so why was she being nasty to him by giving him that look? Cat was awfully close to him, they must have known each other because it was making him uncomfortable having her hover over him like this, but she didn't seem to mind.

Spike was busy dropping the books just under the back of Riley’s seat, he wanted to impress the Slayer, not have her see him surrounded by these dirty books, 'sides, he wasn't really that interested in 'books' when he could have what he considered to be something far better. Riley meanwhile had lightly taken hold of the door handle, if she had just asked him to get the stupid glasses for her they wouldn't be drifting on the opposite side of the road!

'Spike ... where am I heading for?' If Riley had been brave enough, he would have let out a small sigh of relief when she corrected her course, but after seeing this woman take out someone who had knocked him back in a single kick.. he decided to tread rather lightly around her. The vampire glanced about, staring at the sighs, easily reading them long before the humans could even hope to understand the tiny blurs of distant words.

"We're-Ow!-Bloody Christ!-Uh.. Harmony Pet, we're headin' to Harmony." He grumbled unhappily as he shifted once again out of the beam of sunlight, he shifted around slightly more, still not clicking he had used a nickname for Cat. He can always regret it later, now he wanted to try and not get barbequed.

"You're not going to burst into ash back there are you?" Riley asked, momentarily forgetting about the lack of reflection on Spike's part as he looked into the mirror, quickly instead turning his head slightly to look back. Spike scoffed, this time it was HIS turn to act as if the stupidest question ever asked had just been asked.

"Not bloody likely mate.. you've been in Harmony before, it's where you sh-" He hesitated for a second before instantly correcting himself, dragging the 'shhh' sound for a split second longer then one should. After all, he didn't want to remind her of what she had done to him.. even if he did think he deserved to be shot after he threw her into the vortex, and he didn't want to tell Riley that the girl trying to save him had shot him either.. Riley was confused enough.

"-Showed up.. in L.A., Slayer apartments, watcher council.. it's all'n Harmony." He informed her, before slowly adding as an after thought his next sentence, after all.. he was dangerous now.. he could hurt people.. Maybe it wasn't safe if he heads back to the school, what if he accidentally hurt someone, he didn't have a chip to stop him any more, and he didn't have a soul to help fight the demon.

"Uh.. perhaps.. maybe.. we pass through an' you drop me off?" Why was everyone leaving him?Riley didn't like this, the group started off rather crowded and now it seemed to have dwindled down to possibly just him and Catherine. Spike shifted once again as there was a curve in the road before continuing, the half hidden sound of anxiety heard barely in the quiet tone of his voice.

"Instead.. o'takin' me back to the school.. where.. all'em.." He paused for a moment, trailing off as he realized the strongest sense of power he's ever felt from a Slayer came from the direction of the school, which meant - he would easily guess - that in fact both Slayers where there.

"Second thought, never mind, maybe the Slayer's can help, they seem to be in the direction o'the school." At Spike's words, Riley glanced back with a slightly puzzled look, Spike groaned and rolled his eyes, why was HE the one always having to explain the Slayer's to Riley. Riley didn't even know they existed for real until he came to recapture Spike but instead got attacked by Jennifer and her group.

"Chosen girl, destined to save the world from any demonic take overs, stops the end of the world from comin' 'round every week.. any more questions Farm-Boy?" Riley frowned as he turned around and stared ahead at the road, but then frowned more and looked over at Catherine. Farm-Boy? Ok, Riley got the idea that there was some sort of dislike between him and the undead guy in the back, but what kind of insult was Farm-Boy.. or was.. how could he be a farmer, that's just stupid, what did he farm, the undead?

"Where are we going.. or can't you tell me that either?" He seemed to demand a response to this question, even if he did sound more annoyed and upset, he really did just want to know.. he wanted to know something.. anything.

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
'We're-Ow!-Bloody Christ!-Uh.. Harmony Pet, we're headin' to Harmony.' The name didn't sound familiar to her, but Spike was coninuing to talk, her eyes flicked onto the front mirror but she couldn't see his reflection, it was creepy and she didn't like it. Feeling a shiver trace up her spine her eyes dropped back to the road again, trying to read the road signs as they flicked by.

'Not bloody likely mate.. you've been in Harmony before, it's where you sh-' She wondered what the shhhh was meant to be but when he spoke again she put two and two together, not looking back at him. 'Showed up.. in L.A., Slayer apartments, watcher council.. it's all'n Harmony.' She was glad just then that the too large shades were covering her eyes, it was hard to guess her expression from her mouth alone but it certainly wasn't happiness that she was feeling. She didn't like thinking about the fact she'd shot him, she didn't like that she would do that to anyone even if they were endangering her life. A small part of her protested that she'd only done it to protect Rogue but at the moment it seemed like a very poor excuse.

'Uh.. perhaps.. maybe.. we pass through an' you drop me off.' She didn't make any sign of agreeing or disagreeing to what he had just said, but she couldn't understand why he didn't want to go back to Rogue ... he liked her right? Just like she liked Riley, she glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, his hand was still clentched around the handle of the door like she was about the crash the car or something. If her ears could have drooped they would have done, he didn't trust her, he didn't even know what her full name was, it wasn't fair ... why did she have to loose him like that. He was sitting just over from her yet it was like he was a million miles away. She could hear him speaking, though the words were only echo's of ones he had uttered to her before. I want to spend every day with you.. where ever you are.. I want to be there.. beside you, I want to hold you.. kiss you.. I want to be there.. with you.. everyday. Catherine.. I could hold you every day... for the rest of my life I could hold you ... She was focusing very hard upon the road in front of her ... I want.. to love you.. I want.. to show you.. how I feel ... her hands were gripping rather hard on to the steering wheel ... You are the most amazing thing I've ever seen.. and I've seen Angels ... she could feel a sudden warmth spring into her cheeks just from remembering the way he'd looked at her. I'm drowning in you Catherine.. when I close my eyes, all I see is you, then I open them.. and all I see is you, when I reach out, I touch you, when I breathe.. I'm breathing in you, I taste you in my mouth, I smell you in the air and on my hands.. you're everywhere her eyes flicked out of the side window, she couldn't look at him ... I want.. to hold you forever ... I'll stay with you Catherine, I'll never leave you, I promise, I'll spend the rest of my life with you ... she blinked hard, that promise had lasted little over a few hours ... what was Riley going to say when he found out it was her fault he'd lost his memory, she was the one who had made the descision that he should have his memory erased. She could have been sitting here with a Riley who remembered her, she recalled her request of him earlier that morning. 'Riley ... will you come to my room tonight?' She shut her eyes for a moment, there was no way she was going to lye in his arms tonight.

'Chosen girl, destined to save the world from any demonic take overs, stops the end of the world from comin' 'round every week.. any more questions Farm-Boy.'

There was the sudden break of tires as the hummer slammed to a halt by the side of a semi busy road in the middle of the city, the man in the car being hooted angrily and had to swerve out of their way.

'Where are we going.. or can't you tell me that either.' She ignored Riley for the moment.

'Spike ... Do you wanna walk?' She said rather angrily, why couldn't the pair of them just get along, there was silence from the back seat which she took for a no, it wouldn't be too comfortable for him if he did. Her hands reached for the front desk of the car, searching for something.

She found several crumpled bills that she'd been hoping to locate and hopped swiftly out of the hummer, slamming the door rather hard in her exit. She was sure three hours in a car with them was going to be enough to drive her over the brink of insanity.

A few minutes past and her form could be seen exiting the seven eleven she'd popped into, she looked happier, now her eyes had adjusted to the day light she'd removed the glasses and was swinging a carrier bag in her hand. She'd forgotten how nice it felt just to be free, she'd spent so long cooped up in a small box of a cell and it was lovley to get back into the bustle of a large city. She looked over at the hummer, wondering how she was going to cope with driving for such a long streatch of time, the longest she'd ever spent behind a wheel was half an hour, but she didn't think it was the best time to tell Riley. She wished Riley drove and there was no way she was letting Spike behind the wheel, not after she saw what he'd done to poor Lisa's car.

She was silent untill she'd started the hummer up again and had pulled off, depositing the bag of food upon the wide space between her and Riley. She pulled out a twix and wrestled to open the packet, keep her hands on the steering wheel, look out for the sign and the road, trying to ignore the dull throbbing pain in her hip.

'Eat ...' She said to Riley, munching hungily and checking her rear light mirror to make sure they wern't being followed. 'Your hungry.' He hadn't eaten well over the past few days and they had both missed breakfast, tea seemed like such an age ago. She was silent for another minute then answered the question he'd uttered a few moments ago, glancing back over her shoulder, unsure of how much she should tell him, looking to Spike for reassuance.

'Ummm were going to Xaviers.' She looked back at the road, she didn't want to tell him there were mutants there, she didn't want to throw him in the deep end. 'It's a school for ... errr for gifted youngsters.' She hated doing this, editing the truth for him, it was just like she was lying.

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
The vampires hands reached out for the back of Catherine's seat as his body lunged forward, Riley's grip on the handle of the side door growing tighter, his othre hand reaching out as his body jolted forwards as well. How on earth did she drive so crazily and yet not crash? He was sure there was more to her then he can learn in just the short time he remembers her, suddenly he found himself wondering how long he's known her..

'Spike ... Do you wanna walk?' Sometimes words where just as effective as a gun shot when wanting to frighten or quiet someone. And in this case, Spike didn't even breathe after she had threatened him, he did sulk slightly, part of him wanting to defend himself, another part wanting to be hidden from sight. Riley shifted about for a moment, she was angry, he didn't like to see her angry, he wished he could have been more.. of himself, who ever he was, maybe that would have had make her feel slightly better.

As her fingers grasped some money, she hopped out of the car, Riley's hand starting to shifted about slightly.. should he go with her, or stay? She didn't order him to go with her.. so that meant he should stay... he flinched as the door slammed shut, maybe he had done something wrong, he looked away, staring out the window.. he wasn't really helping the situation.. treating her as if she was keeping things form him.

When she emerged from the shop, her expression seemed more lightened, it seemed strang watching her swing the bag of food as she moved towards the military jeep.. of course she had other moods then grouchy.. he just.. hadn't thought of it. Riley tried not to look towards her, she wasn't speaking again, and she had ignored his question earlier, but she wasn't as upset looking so he didn't want to push anything.. He listened quietly as she began to eat, his eyes staring blankly out the window trying to see if he remembered any of this area.

'Eat ... Your hungry.' Pulling his eyes back into the car, looking over towards Catherine as she drove, now that she had ordered him to eat.. he did feel hungry.. His eyes dropped down to the bag.. but he didn't feel like eating.. his eyes looked back out the window for a moment.. but then looked bakc to Catherine as she spoke.

'Ummm were going to Xaviers.' Well that had less then no meaning for him, his hand pulled away from the handle and they both folded in his lap, but then shifted again and he rested his elbow just against the window, resting it head against his hand.

'It's a school for ... errr for gifted youngsters.' Riley closed his eyes again, why where they going to a school... and why what could they possibly do there, didn't he have a home, didn't he have somewhere he belonged.. why where they going to a school, why couldn't she take him home so he could figure out who he was? He looked away again, dropping his hands into his land and holding them together rather tightly. There was a sudden bang as his fist lashed out, striking hard against the dashboard, quickly withdrawing to cover his face as he tried to calm down. But the young man simply gritten his teeth and lashed out again, causing it to crack from the force of impact. He leaned forward, his hands covering his face once again, why was he so upset, he didn't want to be like this. His hands reached out and pressed against the dashboard, as if waiting for something else to happen, his eyes took on that same distant stare like after he had shot at her earlier, his gaze staring out onto the road.

"Am I a dangerous person? Is that why they.. is that why you don't want to talk with me.. is that why you don't want to help me remember? ...What are you going to do with me?" Of course he was dangerous, he couldn't even control his temper, he was violent, look at the dash board, look what he did for no reason.. maybe he was her captive.. maybe he did something bad and it was her job to take him somewhere.. why else would a vampire be follow the orders of a pretty, yet young, woman?

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
She flintched as she caught sight of his fist flashing out, thinking for a moment that he was about to strike her, her body jerked to the side away from him, taking both her hands and the steering wheel sideways with her. There was a blaring sound from the horn of a lorry driver who thought for one panicked second that he was about to kill the occupants of a military jeep which seemed to lurch out in front of him.

'Am I a dangerous person? Is that why they.. is that why you don't want to talk with me.. is that why you don't want to help me remember? ...What are you going to do with me?'

Cat dropped the other half of the twix, grabbing hold of the steering wheel with both hands and put the car back in the right lane, narrowly missing the front of the lorry.

Her hands were gripping the steering wheel rather hard, so hard infact her knucles were white from the pressure, her eyes upon the road in front of her, but flicking every now and again over towards the now cracked dashboard. She suddenly didn't feel very safe in a car with him.

'How about you don't do that again OK Riley.' She said, her voice rather shakey, glad that Spike was here, maybe she should tell him to go sit in the back with William.

'I'm just not sure what to say.' She said quietly not looking at him. 'I'm not going to do anything with you, if you want you can leave, I can stop the car now if thats what you want.' She didn't look at him, she didn't know what she'd do if he did just dissapear out of her life like that, just slam the door and not look back as he was walking away. 'Or you can stay and give me a chance to explain everything ... What do you want to know.' Maybe if she just answered a few of his questions he'd calm down a bit.

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
Sitting back slightly, his eyes shifting from the road in front to the cracked dashboard.. but his mind kept picturing the image of Cat flinching away, pulling from him and pressing herself against her door. He could feel Spike's eyes burning into him, but he refused to look back at the vampire.

'How about you don't do that again OK Riley.' He didn't mean to do that, but like she'd believe him.. maybe he was prone to spontaneous acts of violence.. Maybe that's just whom he was, his bright eyes moved towards Catherine's hands, gripping so tightly to the wheel her knuckles had turned white..

'I'm just not sure what to say.' Suddenly a thousand questions burst into Riley's mind at her statement, how can she not be sure.. he wanted to know anything, everything.. why wasn't she looking at him?

'I'm not going to do anything with you, if you want you can leave, I can stop the car now if that’s what you want.' His eyes had began to wonder off, but at registering what she was offering him, Riley locked his gaze back onto her face, how was he going to survive without her, without knowing anything.. even if he didn't remember who he was, at least she did.. didn't she.

'Or you can stay and give me a chance to explain everything ... What do you want to know.' He was still fretting over the possibility of her stopping the car, but shifting his body about, now his back resting more against the door then the seat as he seemed to turn partially and face her.

"I don't understand who you are.. you fight and defeat a girl who winded me in a single kick, you drive at insanely high speeds and.. the fact you handle this thing so well at the same time, it's almost as scary as it is amazing." If he was trying not to sound too awe-struck then he was failing, but he didn't care, she was like one of those super agents one would read staring in a science fiction / thriller novel of some kind.

"I want to know everything.. if you don't know where to start, start with simple things, where do I live, do I have family, what are their names if I have any, are they nearby, what do they-" He stared at her for a moment and then sighed, her expression didn't seem very comforting for that subject so he changed it quickly, almost in a panic as he tried to think of something else.

"Al-Alright, we'll leave that for now, how about.. then.. then tell me about you.. about us.. about, our relationship! So, where did we meet? What's your favorite subject at school, what's my favorite subject.. how long have we known each other? Are we friends.. do we just work together.. why does my head hurt? Who are you.. who am I? ..And who is he?" Alright, perhaps he bombarded her with lots of questions, in truth he didn't care if she didn't answer all of them, he just wanted to have her talk with him.. tell him things.. anything, just to have her voice talk to him as if there was nothing wrong and they where having a decent conversation.

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
She saw him shift his positionslightly, indicating that he didn't want her to stop driving, she almost missed the sign for harmony because she wasn't looking properly at the road but she just made it, driving in silence for a few mintues listening to his barrage of questions directed at her.

There weren't as many cars around now and she could afford to drive a little quicker knowing that at any moment the initiative were probably going to appear. What was she going to say to him. 'I don't understand who you are.. you fight and defeat a girl who winded me in a single kick, you drive at insanely high speeds and.. the fact you handle this thing so well at the same time, it's almost as scary as it is amazing.' Well she had a choice of either, I'm used to driving at insane speeds since a hobby of mine is joyriding or how about that she was a mutant, that ought to make him feel better, being trapped in a car with two non-human beings. That thought made a twinge of saddness run through her, she wasn't human, had Riley thought about that last night, that he hadn't been making love to a human. She'd been thinking so hard about what she was (a mutant) that she'd forgotten what she wasn't .... human.

'I want to know everything.. if you don't know where to start, start with simple things, where do I live, do I have family, what are their names if I have any, are they nearby, what do they.' Yer another place she didn't want to go, how was she supposed to tell him that his parents thought he was dead? It didn't bear thining about, she wondered how little she could tell him that would satisfy his hunger to learn about himself, but she thought she probably didn't know enough to even do that.

'Al-Alright, we'll leave that for now, how about.. then.. then tell me about you.. about us.. about, our relationship! So, where did we meet? What's your favorite subject at school, what's my favorite subject.. how long have we known each other? Are we friends.. do we just work together.. why does my head hurt? Who are you.. who am I? ..And who is he?' just as she had breathed a sigh of relife he hit her with this .... relationship, she didn't know anymore, it was all so confusing.

Ummm ....' She didn't know where to start, maybe if she just told him a few things. 'I know ...' She began to look very fixedly at the road so she wouldn't have to look at him anymore. 'I know you used to live in Huxley with your mum and dad.' There was a short streatch of time in which she didn't know how to continue. 'I think you should probably talk to Dawn when we get back, she'd known you longer than I have.'

She let him digest this information while she selected a whisper from the bag to eat, it wasn't usual that she got the chance to eat chocolate, it seemed to be calming her nerves anyway. She'd given up the twix for lost, she'd probably stepped on it by now and if Riley wasn't going to eat that just meant more food for her.

'We errr met at Xaviers ....' She seemed to be deciding what she should say 'As to our relationship.' She'd turned a rather pink colour now, focusing her attention on doing up the window since the jeep was now quite cold, she wanted to grab hold of him and shake him untill he remembered her and remembered that he loved her. 'You're my team leader.' She said still managing not to look at him, focusing her attention on trying to unwrap the chocolate and drive using her elbows as she did that. 'I have't known you long, couple of weeks maybe.' She knew she was being very close with everything but there was so much she didn't want him to know and even more that she did but couldn't tell him.

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
'Ummm .... I know ..... I know you used to live in Huxley with your mum and dad.' Huxley, that was good, that was a start, he was from Huxley.. it didn't ring a bell.. he had no idea where in Huxley, it was Huxley Iowa right? At least he remembered a bunch of useless things.. he'd rather forget how to speak and locations on a map then forget who he was..

'I think you should probably talk to Dawn when we get back, she'd known you longer than I have.' The way she had shifted topics onto Dawn, it seemed to strike him, what did she mean Dawn's known him longer, who was she, was she a friend, a team member, a girlfriend? Every answer she gave only made him want to ask more questions..

'We errr met at Xavier’s ....' So.. they go to school together.. or something.. high speeding, army agent was his classmate?

'As to our relationship.' He waited quietly, ignoring the distractions she was slipping into by doing up the window, eating the chocolate bar.

'You're my team leader.' A leader? As in.. one that leads people? He couldn't be a leader, he thought SHE was the leader. He couldn't even decide on what to eat, even if he was starving he wanted her to tell him what to eat, he wanted her to tell him what to do, what to think, what to say, how to act more like himself, he wanted to be told what to do.. not tell others what to do..

'I haven't known you long, couple of weeks maybe.' Riley looked away, staring out the window, watching the blur of scenery past by on her side, he wished.. he wished he knew more.. he wished.. he wished he were Riley Finn again.

"..Will I remember things.. will I ever get my memory back?" He didn't give her much time to think about it before he blurted out quickly, still fretting over the possibility that she might leave him alone and he'll be without her company, the only person who's name he knew, Spike aside.

"Are you going to leave me when we get to the school? Do we live at Xavier’s or something? Please don't leave me, I'll try and be better, I didn't mean to scare you, I feel strange and it hurts and.. I don't want to leave you, I'll believe in everything you say, I'll do whatever you want me to.." He shifted his position, returning to sitting properly with his back against the seat, his eyes looking out the window as he thought.

".. I'll find someone who'll help me remember.. I won't bother you any more.. I'm sorry, I thought.. I mean I don't.. I just..." He got all jumbled with his words, but tailed off and left his sentence unfinished, not planning on speaking any further unless he was spoken to, what was the point? He was sure he was just making things harder for her.. after all, how must this be affecting her?

'Will I remember things.. will I ever get my memory back' Catherine could only shrug her shoulder, realising the next moment how that might make him feel.

'You did last time.' She said in an encouraging voice, a second later her lips pressed together, she shouldn't have said that, the last thing he needed at the moment was to know that this wasn't the first time this had happened. She answered his other question in the hope he hadn't heard her properly.

'Are you going to leave me when we get to the school? Do we live at Xavier’s or something? Please don't leave me, I'll try and be better, I didn't mean to scare you, I feel strange and it hurts and.. I don't want to leave you, I'll believe in everything you say, I'll do whatever you want me to..' This wasn't going to be much of a better explination.

'I live there, you did .... but I'm not sure if Xavier will let ....' She broke off, what did Xavier think of him, would he let Riley stay once he knew he'd been sent there to spy upon mutants that he'd lied. 'Don't worry it'll be alright, I won't leave you.' How could she leave him, she wanted him in her sight forever. 'I'm sure you can stay there at least if it's only for a while.'

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
'You did last time.' He stared over at her, his lips partially opened, but then with another look, he shut his mouth slowly and looked away. What had that meant? ...Last time.. there was a last time?

'I live there, you did .... but I'm not sure if Xavier will let ....' He stared back at her again, his legs shifting about anxiously, if he did, then why didn't he any more?

'Don't worry it'll be alright, I won't leave you.' He stopped panicking over everything else, she wouldn't leave him, after all the trouble he's put her through.. That means that he will have someone who he knows more then any one else with him, hopefully at all times, he didn't want to let her out of his sights, what if something terrible happens!?

'I'm sure you can stay there at least if it's only for a while.' He looked back outside his window, he was curious to know what had caused him to leave, how long he's been gone.. what exactly he was doing living at a school.

"Cat.." He glanced towards her, the fingers of his right hand exploring the hard Armour vest he wore that had protected him from the shots of bullets fired at him earlier.

"Have you ever felt.. that.. you've lost something important.. only you can't remember what it was.." He looked back out the window, slouching down in his seat unhappily as he thought.

"..and the more you try to remember, the more harder it is to actually remember what it is, but you keep trying any way? ...Did any of that make sense? ..I just want to remember it all.. I want to be me again and I'm afraid I'll never find out who I am. Sometimes all a person ever is.. is what others think of them.. so.. as long as I have you I'll be someone, but without you.. who am I?" Now his mouth seemed to be speaking without him really having any control over it, he ended up just closing his eyes and focusing on nothing other then the sound of the car moving. Maybe if he tried not to think of anything.. then he might remember things.. or.. maybe he'll never remember.. it felt as if he was starting all over again, starting his entire life.. did he even get to say good-bye to everything he knew?

'Cat..' She glanced at him quickly then looked away not sure what to say or think anymore.

'It's Catherine.' She screwed up the wrapper and dropped it into the bag again, all the while managing not to look at him. 'You never called me Cat.' It seemed alien and somehow wrong to hear him say it, it just wasn't right, she was Catherine to him, she always had been.

'Have you ever felt.. that.. you've lost something important.. only you can't remember what it was.' Suddenly ... unnacoutably it was hard for her to breath, her lungs seemed to have stopped working, but her shoulders just seemed to shrug as an answer.

'I want to be me again and I'm afraid I'll never find out who I am. Sometimes all a person ever is.. is what others think of them.. so.. as long as I have you I'll be someone, but without you.. who am I.' She felt herself smiling slightly at his words.

'Most people at Xavier's like you as far as I know, and Xavier though you weregood enough to be X-force's leader.' There was a hint of something proud in her voice, a mix between being proud of being a member of X-force and of him for being it's leader. She sensed he needed to be told something good about himself.

'It's Catherine.... You never called me Cat.' Never called her Cat? ..Catherine.. he liked that name, he could guess why he didn't call her Cat, it just wasn't as.. as nice... Catherine was a pretty name, he wouldn't have a hard time calling her that. He let his hazel eyes shifted back over towards Catherine, catching a glimpse of her smile after he had spoken.

'Most people at Xavier's like you as far as I know, and Xavier thought you were good enough to be X-force's leader.' Really, he was liked, that's always a pleasure to know, that you're liked.. and his team was called X-Force, and Catherine was part of his team.. He also liked the tone her voice had taken, it wasn't at all upset sounding, and he’d like to keep it that way. But she hadn't answered about Spike, the young man turning slightly to look back at the vampire who was remaining very quiet since Catherine's threat.

"And who are you exactly, when did we meet?" There was a slight hint confusion in his voice, Spike slowly cleared his throat before replying, sounding rather nervous in case Catherine yelled at him again.

"Uh.. Spike, an' you found me 'bout 8 months ago." The blonde creature left it at that, turning his head to look out the window, still enjoying the lack of humans in cages and how freely they moved about in this world.

"Found you? How did I-" Riley seemed to have shifted the bombardment of questions from Catherine onto Spike, and the vampire had no idea what she'd want him to tell Riley and what she wouldn't.

"It wasn't you.. you.. it was another you." Spike interrupted uncomfortably, Riley stared rather blankly back at the vampire who had began fussing over his chest wound in an attempt to ignore Riley.

"...Another.. me.." He repeated slowly, Spike looked up rather annoyed, staring at Riley as if he was acting like a complete idiot.

"Yes, another you, from another world, I'm from another world, as in, this is not my world, and I met another you, in my world when you had barged into my crypt, and then came here, and met you, so I know you, but I know you more from my world-What!?" Riley had turned around and focused on staring out onto the road, an amused smile trying to be hidden, Spike didn't like seeing that.

"You're insane." Riley replied rather calmly, which got an immediate response from the vampire, much to Riley's surprise. Of course he was insane though.. another Riley, from another world.. what was Catherine doing with a creature like this?

"Only when I'm stressed!" William snapped back before remembering Cat's threat and instantly shushing up and remaining silent, even though he was pouting as he glared agitatedly down at his wound, his red stained fingers fiddling with the hole in his shirt. Riley glanced back at the vampire before staring out his window once more, resting his head back, he grinned as he turned his head towards Catherine so he could talk with her again.

"So.. what exactly are we, I mean.. we live in a school, or I at last used to, and yet you're not very 'student' like, you're more like a 'secret agent' or something. I mean, how many woman can take leadership over vampires?" He mused, maybe that's what the school was, not a learning school like he was thinking, but a secret school that trains people how to fight and drive at insanely high speeds without any worries of crashing. Of course it had to be a special school! 'School for the Gifted' and.. 'Team Leader'.. this wasn't just any normal school.. Spike narrowed his eyes slightly at Riley, but then worriedly glanced at Catherine before returning to focus on his shirt..

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
Cat didn't really pay much attention to their conversation, her gaze was directed towards the rear view mirror, her eyes searching the road, her brow furrowed slightly, she could swear she saw a motorbike out on the road a second ago. Something about the way it dodged and weaved through the traffic had put her instantly upon her guard. But it seemed to have vannished now leaving her wondering if she had seen it afterall or if it had just been her imagination.

'So.. what exactly are we, I mean.. we live in a school, or I at last used to, and yet you're not very 'student' like, you're more like a 'secret agent' or something. I mean, how many woman can take leadership over vampires.' She didn't register the fact he was talking to her for a moment.

'Sorry?!' She said trying frantically to remember what he had said, her eyes skimming the road behind her once more before she seemed to relax slightly and give Riley had attention again. He didn't think she was student like? she wanted to work out if that was a bad thing or not but he was waiting for a reply. 'I guess Xavier's isn't your standard school ... it's for.' She wondered if she should have locked the doors, she didn't know how he was going to take the next piece of information. 'mutants.' The word slipped quietly from her lips, it was as simple and uncomplicated as that, and now he'd freak and want to get as far away from her as possible, she eyes looked dead ahead at the road waiting for his response. He wouldn't think she was amazing anymore, he'd know she only managed to defeat Joan because of her powers and not any merit on her own part.

She liked the idea he though she was like a secret agent ... but the only secret agent sitting in this car was Riley. She didn't want to take leadership, it wasn't in her personality to be a leader but at the moment she just didn't have any choice and she wasn't exactly leading Spike, they were arguing more than anything. Riley should be the leader, it went against everything in her to lead him, he was her leader she was supposed to follow him.

Catherine wondered what Xavier would say about her coming home without her X-man uniform, she hoped she woudn't get in too much trouble, her fingers rubbed nervously over the steering wheel as she imagined being ordered to leave the school since she'd returned without it.

A school for mutants? Was he a mutant.. he didn't feel like a mutant, he stared ahead of them, watching the road for a moment.. he never really had thought about any of that.. Riley's eyes looked back towards Catherine, why had she seemed to hesitated telling him that..

"Wait, so.. are we both mutants? If we bothed lived at the school.." He sounded totally confused, he would know if he had special powers.. wouldn't he? That'd make Catherine like a Superhero if she had powers, he grinned slightly at the thought of her wearing a costum, going around saving the innocent.

"Are you alright?" He asked rather puzzled as she seemed to have gone rather silent towards him, her eyes almost avoiding his own.. maybe he was being paranoid. His grin had long gone, a more serious look filling his face, maybe there was something bad about this school, she was worried about something, he was sure of it.

"Is something wrong, these people aren't going to hurt me are they, I didn't leave because I did something wrong did I?" He became very worried now, what if he was a mutant, what if his power was dangerous, or what if he wasn't a mutant and that's why he was thrown out of the school.. assuming he was thrown and he didn't just leave on his own.

'Wait, so.. are we both mutants? If we bothed lived at the school..' She shook her head, still not looking at him, he was taking this better than she'd imagined, much better.

'Are you alright?' She stared determindly at the road, she wasn't goign to look at him, this was stupid, she was just going to have to tell him, if not he'd find out for himself later.

'Is something wrong, these people aren't going to hurt me are they, I didn't leave because I did something wrong did I?' She opened her mouth as if to speak but no words seemed to form in her head, instead she let out a sigh and glanced out of her window.

'Back there,' Her head jerked slightly to one side to indicate she was talking about the building they had just left, she went silent for a moment while she overtook a car half the size of the hummer. 'that was a government military organisation.' She spoke rather slowly as if she was letting him take all this in but it was more that she was searching for the words to tell him this. 'Its called the initiative, you work .... or rather worked for them.' She flicked off the indicator and nestled back into the large seat she was sitting in, the trafifc was thinning out now and there were less cars for her to worry about.

'They placed you at the school to spy upon us.' By us she meant to indicate everyone at the school. 'But they decided to withdraw you from the school a couple of weeks ago.' She didn't state how she got there, she didn't think she should finnish up with the fact that he'd kidnapped her and spike.

'Back there.. that was a government military organisation.' His eyes returned to the road ahead of them, it seemed rather obvious now he thought, they all seemed very.. military like..

'Its called the initiative, you work .... or rather worked for them.' Now his eyes move over towards Catherine again, was she serious.. he was part of that group.. he was.. he was part of the group that seemed to have been trying to kill them.. they removed his memory.

'They placed you at the school to spy upon us.' Was she serious!? He shifted his position uncomfortably, staring at her harder in hopes that perhaps she was just.. joking.. He knew she wasn't, she was so deadly serious.. he was a spy.. he was.. that was terrible! He was terrible!

'But they decided to withdraw you from the school a couple of weeks ago.' The hazel orbs dropped down searching around for something.. anything.. he didn't like this, what else would he learn about himself that he didn't like? His eyes looked back up at Catherine, his arms crossing over his chest for a moment before his hands dropped to his lap anxiously.

"That's terrible.." He began slowly, his eyes moving over towards the crack he had caused in the dashboard.. that was.. terrible, he was a spy? He spied on her, on her friends.. on people that liked him, she said they liked him.. how could he did that? How could he... he betrayed them.. this Xavier that gave him leadership of a team.. this Dawn girl.. Catherine.. everyone.. he betrayed them all..

"...Why are you helping me then? I betrayed everyone in that school.. I betrayed you.. you're helping me, and yet I've done something so terrible to you.." Maybe she was assigned to take him back to the school.. or maybe she went and saved him.. or.. or many there was more and he just didn't know or understand it just yet. Catherine was being so brave and strong and he had lied to her... he lied to the one person who seemed willing to actually help him and it all seemed like she was risking so much.. it was really dangerous.. gunfire, memory wipes, what was she doing with him?

'Why are you helping me then? I betrayed everyone in that school.. I betrayed you.. you're helping me, and yet I've done something so terrible to you.' She looked across at him, her eyes blinked as if he was asking her a stupid question to which the answer was obvious ... because she loved him, because she wanted to help him to remember her, to remember everything. Yup definatley not time to tell him he kidnapped her or tired to shoot her.

'Your my team leader and my freind, I wanted to help.' She shrugged slightly, there didn't seem much she could say in the end. 'You were just doing your job.' It was remarkable really, how the stroppy teenager about her seemed to have fallen away in the last day or so showing a tantalising glimpse of the woman she would be one day.

'You sure your not hungry?' She said her eyes drifting over to the carrier bag once again, she didn't want him to starve himself, her eyes flicked into the back to look at Spike, she couldn't really feed him the seven eleven hadn't sold bottled blood.

Re: Good bye to Everything we knew - The Escape
When her eyes had turned towards him, she had this look about her that made Riley's eyes drop away from her, focusing on the span of seat between them.

'Your my team leader and my friend, I wanted to help.' So they where friends, he wasn't sure before, especially when she had scolded him after discovering those adult books. Then she started going on about how she hadn't known him long.. but then she had promised not to leave him, he needed that.. the certainty of her company.. the assurance that he wouldn't be left alone in this world he couldn't even remember.

'You were just doing your job.' Now he was curious, wasn't she mad at him? For having spied on her and her group, but then.. if she didn't care about him, why would she have gone through all this danger for him? He suddenly had a swell of respect explode within him for this young woman, she was strong, brave, loyal and he trusted her.. as little as he remembered, he knew that now, and forever, he will always trust her.

'You sure your not hungry?' Spike couldn't help but notice the glance Cat had thrown him, he wasn't hungry.. they had force-fed him the other day and he could go up to three days easy without feeling the thirst. The young man looked down at the bag of goodies she had brought, he was hungry, couldn't she give him something.. he wasn't sure what he was allowed to eat.. There was a clicking sound, Riley's side door swinging open, everything happened so fast Riley barely realized what exactly was happening. The glint of light hitting a silvery weapon struck Riley's eyes as something pulled him back, a gun aimed for Catherine, the hand holding it being grasped tightly by Riley and struggling to hold the aim away from her.

Spike's hand had grabbed onto Riley's leg as the intruding agent cut the seat belt restraining him, attempting to pull the non-mutant from the Hummer. The loud sound of a chopper zooming over them didn't help Riley's concentration, his attacker's arm tightly around his neck. Another agent was seen leaning outside of the chopper hovering in front of the jeep, obviously having waited until the group cleared the heavier roads. Spike growled angrily as the helicopter agent seemed to open fire on them as well, causing Cat to swerve the jeep in order to avoid the weapons fire. Thee vampire reached over with his other hand that was not holding onto Riley's leg, grabbing hold of the hand gun that was threatening Cat's safety.

A darkly dressed rider upon a sleek black motorbike pulled up beside Catherine's window, the female riders hand holding out a weapon in an attempt to distract Catherine. Spike let go of Riley's leg, quickly shifting his attention over towards the female rider, opening the door and leaning out into the burning sunlight. Gritting his teeth, the vampire pulled the trigger, but unlike what he might have done two weeks ago, he aimed for the tires of the speeding bike instead of the persons back.

"I'll be back, I promise." Riley's whisper was directed towards Catherine moments before he was half dragged half fell from inside the jeep. He had no idea what he was doing, but he couldn't sit there struggling with this guy while Catherine had to focus on not getting blown up by the chopper. Spike pulled back into the jeep, slamming the door shut as he cringed in pain, listening to Riley and the other man still holding desperately on the side of the speeding military jeep. The vampire opened the window, pressing the tip of the gun lightly against the back of the attacking agent's head, causing the short man to hesitate as Riley's fist struck him out, throwing him off the jeep and to the ground hard, rolling a few meters. Riley shifted so he could poke his head back into the jeep for Cat to see him clearly as he spoke, needing to remove the air born threat.

"You have to keep it steady for a moment, I will be back Catherine." He assured her once again before disappearing along the side of the Hummer, obviously planning something rather stupid if he had to keep assuring her he was going to return to her. The intruder had locked his motorbike on auto when he jumped onto the jeep, Riley stared down at the ground speeding by underneath them. But what other choice did he have? Catherine risked everything to save him, and he was going to do the same for her, no matter what the cost. Spike held out the gun for Riley to take, Riley's fingers taking hold of it without really thinking over it much, then holding his breath, waiting for the perfect moment where Catherine and the bike where close enough and steady enough for him to bravely leap onto the motorcycle. His fingers skimmed over the control panel, deactivating the autopilot and then speeding the bike up ahead of the already speeding Hummer.

The Agent in the helicopter shot towards Riley, who swerved to the side, then moved directly under the chopper, the agent moved to the other side of the helicopter to get a better aim on Riley, but Riley moved to the other side away from him again, zigzagging from left to right to avoid him, holding up his gun and shooting the remainder of his bullets directly towards the air born target. But the small bullets did nothing for the armoured plating, Riley staring back down at the panel and allowing his fingers to move over the various buttons again. He could do this, it wasn't too hard.. he just had to.. press that button, flick that switch, and load the targeting system..

"Damit!" He didn't have the password, maybe he did, he just couldn't remember it, his hand grabbed a grappling hook launcher that rested on the opposite side of the flare gun on each side of the bike. These guys definitely go prepared.. he began to fiddling with various things, his hand grabbing hold of his shirt just at his shoulder, ripping the sleeve right off his arm and doing the same with the other sleeve. He had an idea.. he wasn't sure if it'd work.. He used the torn sleeves of the long black shirt to tightly tie down the grappling hook to the bike around the handles.. he had to avoid another rain of bullets from the chopper, his eyes glancing up rather annoyed before focusing once again on what he was doing.

Shifting his weight to the back of the bike as he forced the front wheel to lift off the ground, his finger gripped around the trigger and shooting the hook with a force up towards the helicopter. The small hook, and long solid steel wire which was attached to it, got caught up in the propeller, only moments later both the bike and the chopper jerking backwards, raising slightly off the ground as Riley gripped tightly to the handles as the bike became vertical.

"Bloody Christ! He's more insane then I am!" Spikes statement was more of shock, watching as Riley looked towards Catherine then up towards the helicopter. It was pulling back, and soon he'd be over the jeep, as soon as he was, he grabbed the flare gun and then let go of the handles, falling right on top of the Hummer. The pilot and the gunner both leapt from the chopper, Riley then raising the flare gun and firing as the chopper and bike crashed into the road behind them, flames engulfing the wreck and stopping any perusers from behind them. He carefully inched down the side from the roof, slipping back into the front passengers seat and closing the door. Riley stared at the road ahead for a moment, now that he was back in the jeep.. none of what just happened felt real..

Now everything seemed to race up for him, his mind speeding ahead of him, he turned to Catherine, his eyes looking over her quickly. Just one stray bullet and he could have lost her.. forever, he could have lost her forever and he wouldn't have anyone else. What would he do? Where would he go, how would he survive? Who would help him..?

"…Are you hurt?" Riley spoke very quietly.. he wasn’t sure what just happened, It was all so fast.. he didn’t know what to say, what was one supposed to say after an attack like that? It was his fault she was in danger.. it was all his fault if she dies..

Riley (about Catherine): ...I have the feeling she's trying to tell me something..
every single time she looks at me.. she's trying to speak to me.. and I can't hear her.
