Hello from NJ
Not exactly sure what all I need to put here as I've not done any type of forum chat before. I have been reading here for a few days trying to learn more about uveitis and glaucoma and their treatments. I am a 58 year old female. I've been being treated for both since 05/05. Initially both eyes were affected, but the right eye responded to treatment (took a while) and has been fine since Jan. 06. The left eye has been refactory to treatment.
Medically I do have other autoimmune diseases -- APS and CREST Syndrome (subset of scleroderma) that I am symptomatic with and need meds for. I've gone the gamut of drops and pills and even had 9 Rituxan infusions with limited improvement which was short lasting. It seems the left eye is back to where it was in June 06. This is good because in August 06 I was only able to see light, dark and colors...not able to distinguish any features on people unless I was up close and personal ... couldn't see the big "E" at the top of the eye chart for that matter either.
At this point in time I am using alphagan twice a day in left eye, cosopt twice a day in left eye, xalatan @ bedtime in both eyes, pred forte 6 times a day, oral prednisone, methotrexate, enbrel SQ twice weekly, fosamax, lopressor, protonix, calcium w/vit.D, folic acid, coumadin, lyrica, vicodin, and some others.... guess the eye meds are really the important ones for this forum anyway. I do see a local vitreo-retinal doc as well as uveitis specialist in NYC. I guess I just need to know that I'm doing what I can. If others in this situation have had treatments that worked more so than other treatments. Not sure if there is something being overlooked I guess. I would appreciate any input anyone has to offer. I do hope I've done this intro right!! I'm sorry if it is too long.
Thank you,
Llyn
