Here's the Balto story you've all been waiting for!
On one quiet, peaceful night, wolves could be heard howling in the distance for The Great Aniu and Storm, the fastest dog in Nome, have had five pups. Fire, Wind, Sky, Breeze, and Balto were taught about surviving in the wild as they grew because Aniu and Storm decided it was to dangerous for them in the village since they all looked like pure wolves and the hunters would be after them. They were taught abut wich things should be avoided, and what to eat and just plain wolf stuff. Boris the goose(a good friend of the clan) would fly in and out to visit and play with all of the pups. One day, Aniu and Storm took the pups for a walk by the mountain. It started to storm, but it didn't matter to them since they lived in the woods and had to deal with it raining on them all the time. The storm grew worse as lightning crashed and thunder boomed. A bolt of lighning hit the tree at the top of the mountain. The tree hit a bunch of rocks on the mountain and started a rock slide. All of the wolves ran exept for little Balto who stayed and watched the rocks roll down the mountain in awe. Scared stiff, he couldn't run anyway. Storm charged for him, but it was too late. A wall of rocks fell in between them. The parents couldnt't break a way through the wall and found that it was quite hopeless to try. Balto started to cry. Aniu saw Boris flying by and she called him down. She asked him to take Balto to the village and keep him safe. The family wlked home, but Aniu turned back and said, "We can expect great things from him. We will meet again."

Thanks for typing this up for us! It's a different theory on Balto's separation from his mother; usually we assume that a hunter got her at one point of another. Poor little Balto...

You're welcome! After 2 trys I finally got this posted!
I would rather not assume the worst. I'd rather think she died naturally and painlessly, or finds a way to return to Balto without actually being there. Poor little Balto :(
