His hair
those luscious dark locks. *sigh* Okay I've regained my composure long enough to get to the point. While wearing his hair in the formal manner...that infamous bun..we see it's straight and well styled..*I wonder where he got the hairspray?* tee hee..but when he wears it loose in Wake the dead or the episode, *please forgive me the title escapes me at the moment* little blue dress Kai..remember that one? His hair is long and curly..oh damn there I go again..I forgot where I was going with this..does it really matter...*thud*

When he portrayed live Kai I tell ya, I creamed in my pants!
He was sooooo hot and sexy, I loved that wavy haired look and that little blue dress wasn't too bad either!
He was in really good shape to pull off that dress and when he was on the gondola with Xev and said that infamous line, "Do you want me." Xev, "Yes." Live Kai, "Then I'm yours." Talk about exploding panties! WOOOOOO!
I really wish they would have showed him with his whole bun down with more realistic looking hair, in Wake the Dead it looked to much like a messy wig. I LMAO when he took down his hair and acted very feminie and kissed Stan in.....was it Walpurgis night or Vlad??? Been awhile since I've seen it, but that was absolutely freaking hilarious!

Did you notice his hair actually changed color from season to season?
In the first season, it was blue-black, with a long lock in front.
By the time we get to season 4, his bun has shrunk and it's much more dark brown than the blue black.
Compare some pictures between the two seasons, you'll see the color changes.

Gibble posted ages ago on the lexx.com board that the wig was made out of YAK hair! I guess you all know that already, but just in case I am posting it.
Odd isn't it? But I suppose a human hair wig would have been really expensive. I wonder if they shampooed it once in a while, or just let it get all matted.

In the movies when they first started the bun was hysterically large! I gather when they started filming the episodes they realized it was ridiculous and made it smaller in order to work better with it..it was rather funny to see Kai sliding around the sand dunes trying to hold onto his bun..and I hope they washed that thing once in a while since a dead man with lice is not a great option! Poor MM wearing that horrid, smelly, sweaty thing on his head..I'm sure he wouldn't put up that with for too long..
Shampoo
I hope they shampoed it after "Wake The Dead". He got it pretty grungy in that epi!

I would have loved to have seen his hair down bun and all, but more natural looking. In wake the dead, it just looked to fakey and not very sexy for a brunnen G at all.

MM has some lovely hair in real life..thick, with a wild curl and salt and pepper..more salt than pepper..but he does have the hair a woman would love to run her hands though it..feel the texure..play with a wayward curl as it wraps around your finger..while you pull his head down towards you..closer and closer and even closer.....

Awsomely bad hair
VH1 did a really funny show about Bad celebrity hair. I cant believe that "Kai" wasn't on it, but I guess Lexx is below the radar. In fact there could be a whole show about scifi hair...
I know I am a heretic, but honestly that bun is so weird that when I was first watching the show (somewhere in the middle of S2) It took me about three episodes to even realize that M.M. was that good looking!!! I was distracted by the do-- until there was a close up of his face in a moth or something. Then I thought "hey, that guy, he's really kinda cute-- In a freaky sort of way". Rather funny, because now I think he is pretty much the most attractive actor on TV.

When I first saw the previews of Lexx back in 1999, it was the twilight ep where Kai is sucking out this weird colored poison out of Xev's neck. I thought to myself, what in the hell is this and what's up with that bee hive? I thought to myself, this looks freaky and wierd, my kind of show.
I started watching it and didn't know what to make of that big pile on his head. I immediately thought the guy was good looking, then after a little while, but bun just grew on me until I came to really like it. Now I can't imagine Kai without the big bun.

Yes, I agree that as alien hair goes, that giant bun is the best. It really makes the viewer feel as if this guy is from a different culture. One of the things that bugs me about some other scifi is that every one looks and acts like they are from SoCal (southern california). Xev's hair went through some interesting phases as well.

Ohhhhh that BUN, OMG, the first time I saw it, I went WTF???
But after seeing a closeup of MM with those pouty lips and intense hazel eyes, I was totally hooked, and after while I got to where I actually loved the bun.
In the first season (movies) it seemed quite exotic, then I got used to it, but nothing will match the first impression I got when he opened those gorgeous eyes and said "Who do you want me to kill?".
