I can one tell if car purchasing has the original motor?

The vehicle has Euro Specs and should have the B16a engine if I am correct? How can one tell if it is the original motor that came from the factory or see if it has been through an engine swap. I believe these autos carry a 1.8 L, DOHC-16V, correct?
I would appreciate any info that can be given before purchasing the Rex. It is a 91 in what seems to be mint condition and low mileage. What would be a paying price for this auto?

The car your going to purchase, the crx its been through an engine swap. In other words its not the original motor. Also its not a 1.8 its a 1.6 L. yes the B16a is 16v And how much are you paying for this car. is the rex HF< DX< SI?

Original OEM motor or not?
It is a 91 CRX Si, and you are correct, it is a 1.6L and not a 1.8L. The selling price at the moment is at $4,000 with 80 something thousand marking on the gauge. Like I said the interior is phenomenal, outside a few scratches and dings and bubbles of rust on the sunroof. Previous owner has and races civic, integra, and prelude. My doubts are how can I tell that he hasn`t swapped in one of these hammered raced out motors into the engine bay of the CRX. Is there any thing in specific that I shoud look for and actually tell if the motor is the original OEM. There must be some type of identification number? Other than that even if it were the original motor, I imagine that parts could have been interchanged. (Is that possible?). What can you advise me? Please let me know.

Thanks,

the motor
the Motor that has now is a B16 right. Well those engine when there swap, people see them as racing engines. And about the car $4000 thats tooooo much money man. GO ON RECYCLER www.recycler.com go under cars and just type in the year you want and the price range your welling to spend. The most you spend i think it should be $3000. And you'll find cars unexpendsive and in better condition In recycler. I got my rex for $2,500. I got mine in recycler. See for your self.
