I did it, and I might've found a new way
Well folks I did the irreversable. That's right, I'm a bad*ss dirty trooper now. I did find this faux granite spray at wal-mart that comes in different styles, particularly one that's called santa fe sand or something. it's a little much for spray, about $7 but i took a chance. it sprays little flecks of gray, black, white, and light browns. not only does it make the armor look flecked and blasted, but it adds an Awesome texture that allows any watered down paints ( i used acrylic browns/grays/black) to stick nicely. they still run down if you want or you can rub it in spherical shapes to simulate blasts. looks sweet.
hope to have pictures up soon. oh, and the spray, until dried in 7-10 minutes, can be wiped right off. so if you screw it up or have second thoughts...
that first press on the spray can is the hardest, it gets easier as you go on lol...
Hey Phil I did the same thing here with acrylics. I think it worked out pretty well. This is me at the Episode 1 premiere. With my old Don Post helmet.

wow one of these days when I get a second set of armor I am going to do this...anybody have the url for that model railroad stuff?
