I just got the Balto DVD and the soundtrack!
I got them through a local videostore by going there and asking whom I think is the manager if he could order the DVD and the soundtrack for me. I also explained that the soundtrack could only be found on the Internet. He said he would try to find them for me.
This happened just on Monday, so I was in a surprised shock when he called yesterday morning and said he had the DVD and the soundtrack there and that I could go and pick them up. Only five days! How's that for fast service?
When I watched the DVD last night it was like watching the movie for the first time; the animation is crystal clear and the colors are more vibrant than on the VHS. It is a beautiful DVD.
The only flaw is that after Balto has been rescued from the water by Muk and Luk and Balto finds out that Jenna is hurt, all movement and sound stops for just a moment right after Jenna says "Well, maybe I'm not so fine." During the pause, the word "search" appears in the display window on my DVD player. I was alarmed at first, but then the pause ended and the rest of the DVD played smoothly. I wonder if maybe this has something to do with the DVD being dual-layered. I have read that a slight pause may occur when a DVD switches from one layer to the next. Am I right? My "Lady and the Tramp II" DVD does this too, and always in the same place, so thought it might have something to do with the layers. If I am wrong about this, could you please reply to this message? (By the way, this was a new, sealed DVD).
Other than that obvious flaw(if it is a flaw) the DVD is absolutely stunning, like I said. The white wolf looks more beautiful now than I can ever remember. I love this DVD! I just hope that there is nothing seriously wrong with the DVD. I want it to last forever and not konk out on me one day. (One of my DVDs actually did this once, but I think it was probably defective to begin with).
The Balto soundtrack CD was also new and sealed. I watched the DVD before listening to the soundtrack and was overcome by the music more than ever, knowing that I finally have the CD. I remember before that I would feel a great sadness when watching the movie because I wanted the soundtrack so bad and I could not find it anywhere. The problem was is that I have only become a movie soundtrack fan in the last few years, and by then it was too late to get the soundtracks I had missed out on.
I particularly love James Horner's music, so I had to get this soundtrack. Naturally, I had to get the DVD as well since now I am a big fan of DVDs. Now I have them both and I am one happy wolf. Arrooooooo!
Re: I just got the Balto DVD and the soundtrack!
congrats! i really love the dvd its soo cool to see it in such a high quality format...i noticed so many new details...like the snow is so much more impressive! and like u say the white wolf is so much more detailed.
Oh that is sooo great!
How nice, being able to but the DVD and soundtrack. I don't much about the soundtrack here at my place, and I'm just too *shy* to ask....
I did have the Balto DVD, and like you said before AC, it just blooped out on me! Arrrgh, I've seen B2 on DVD and it was nice 'cause I haven't watched it on VCD or VHS yet. But I was dying to watch Balto and it just couldn't READ my DVD. Strangely, my bro's computer could play it smoothly.
Re: Oh that is sooo great!
