My name is Missy and I live in the Dallas area. Dh is getting laid off in April of 04 and we are selling our house (and van and trailer and all our stuff) and we are going to full time for a while.
We are going to be ordering the brand new Open Road 340 rbhs, fifth wheel. I called and talked with Tom at Pilgrim and asked if there was a rear bunk house with a bedroom slide. They have just come out with this new model and I can have a good bedroom.
Having looked at almost everything else on any lot around here, it was the only one that impressed us.
I was suprised that the Rv.org guys only gave it a vacation rating and 2 empty stars. Apparently they dont think it is a very good value. (But they like Thor products???) I must be missing something.
Anyway, we are trying to sell our house so we can order our new home (come on house) and buy a new truck.

I'm sorry about the DH's layoff.....but at least you have time to plan. How old are your children?

Actually I saw the 329 on the website and saw the unit at a local dealer. I loved the trailer but hated the front bedroom. I called Pilgrim and chatted with Tom and found out they had just started producing the 340. It was just what we wanted....a real bedroom with doors.
My daughter will be 6 in June.
I just asked Tom a hundred questions and he was great to talk with. I am getting excited. Now I have to buy a truck. ugh!
Re: I will try this againI'm curious. You said RV Consumers Group didn't like the Open Road much. Was this in their ratings book? Was it all Open Roads or one particular model? We used to be members, but let our membership lapse when we decided to buy a house instead of a motorhome, lol. We generally found we could see the reasons for their ratings. This is distressing!
Any info you can provide will be appreciated as we are getting ready to buy a 360rkds.
