Jamie update
One eye at 1/2+ and left at zero. No steroids for two months now. Doctor increased mtx to 20mg for a little
extra boost but everything else was fine. Vision at 20/20.
Did bring her to Rheumatologist because her ankle was bothering her a lot during dancing and gym. MRI showed
a little swelling and fluid, she tooked naproxen for a month and everything seems good now. Rheumatologist
not sure if JIA at this time even though ANA came back
positive from seeing Dr. Foster. Her current doctor
in Chicago says her Uveitis is not JIA related since
she had inflammation in back of the eyes. So I guess still
not sure what has/is causing her Uveitis. Just keeping
my fingers crossed on the mtx working long-term.
Very hopeful but cautious.
did you send the report to Dr Foster? he is now on your team and can help from afar.
sorry she has the swollen ankle. we all know how much that can hurt.
glad her eyes are mostly quiet as well. Lets hope the MTX kicks behind and that her 2 years on MTX without inflammation begins now.
Re: Jamie update
Jaime had a great report! So glad to read that. I have been told that the juvenile arthritis and uveitis being shown as iritis only, is not always true. Yes, it is more common. ANA can be positive or negative, Uveitis can present in the front, middle or the back - they are all just categories or clues that Docs look for, but low and behold there are some that don't fit in any certain category.
Keep an eye on any swelling. I was told to do the same thing that you did, add an NSAID to help control those types of issues when they came up.
She sure sounds like she is on the right path ; ) Great job mom!
Re: Jamie update
The uveitis related to JIA can be granulomatus as well. Please see the article on this in the LEARNING about OID forum at this site that I recently posted. there might be other articles of interest as well.
Re: Jamie update
Thanks you two. You are full of great information as always. Jamie's ankle is doing much better now. She's
not wrapping it anymore and doesn't even mention it so
I think all is good. Not having to do the eye drops everyday and only one shot a week has made things much
better. And switching to mtx w/preservatives was good
too because she says it doesn't sting. I hope it's safe.
From what I'm told, it is.
