KAI - Romantic Lover or Tragic Hero
There was the romance of the Brunnen G, Kai, an innocent soul in the universe, in love with a brunnen G woman. Killed by the Divine Shadow's own hand, only to become a mindless killing machine. He died tragically to save his planet, a true hero he was.
So....like...if you were his girlfriend could you accept him for as he was , cold and dead and all that, or would you move on to the more warm blooded of the male species?
If i truly loved him i would choose cold and dead. he gave his life for a hopeless cause fighting for what he belived in.

I would carry the torch for him for the remainder of my life, but knowing he could never respond to me emotionally would be agony. Knowing he would outlive me would be fruitless. So I think I would return to the warm blooded species, and be a miserable, bitter old hag...

Now wait a minute here...let me try to dissect this discussion...*holds head before it explodes* if he died in so called vain 'cause after all the Brunnen-G were destroyed..he was the last..that means no one else survived..hence no girlfriend to pine over the divine dead one..hence no use in asking if....
But..you asked so..here's my answer..THE MAN HAS LIPS! HANDS! USE THEM! AND TAKE A LOVER ON THE SIDE!

Ah yes, Leonesa, he has hands and lips....but he is dead, so he has not motivation, no desire, would it make the mechanical use of his mouth and hands fulfulling enough?

HMmmm, good question. what would I do if my romantic and idealistic boyfriend "died" in a futile attempt to save our planet-- and I somehow surived--only to bump into him later and find that he had been transformed into an undead emotionally repitlian killing machine by the divine order, and parts of his brain didn't work anymore, and parts of his body had been tampered with--- BUT that he was more beautiful than EVER.

Depends on if you're talking about like Kai or dead Kai. I think they had somewhat different personalities...I know, "the dead do not have a personality"!

Okay..here's the solution..stay with dead Kai, hunt down Brizon take his talisman and then go to town on the dead man in black! Talk about motivation here honies..that would motivate any horny warm blooded female to extremes!

Well... to be technical... He'd probably kill me if I went anywhere near him! And by the time Stan and Xev had "control" of him, I'd be quite nicely decomposed...
But if I somehow found myself in cryostasis for a few thousand years and then was woken up beside the dead one... I'd probably stand against-- I mean, by him... most of the time... Muahaha.

LOL, well after a few thousand years of being frozen, the *stiff* dead would probably look good.

well before he was dead he was the romantic hero/warrior and after the divine whatchamacallit did him over he was turned into the tragic hero/lover..poor thing..K-Town really showed how they did a number on him..felt so bad for the poor dead man..

I know what Leonessa means -- That scene in K-Town reminds me of whatever Alien it is where Ripley confronts the clone of herself that is deformed and improperly grown. You really get to see just how merciless the Divine Order was, and how pathetic Kai's situation really is. You can't leave a man in a state like that!

I remember when I saw him like that, I pitied him for the horrors of what was done to his body after death. It was just sad. At first it was wow, we get to see MM somewhat naked. But when you saw what had been done to Kai, sorrow was more what I felt for the character.

I couldn't agree more! It is one of the deepest moments in terms of the audience getting to see Kai as a character. He can't even control his own muscles, let alone his destiny, for goodness' sake! It is just so tragic to see him laid out like that.
I remember reading somewhere (TV Zone maybe?) MM saying that this scene was the "payoff" for the tease his character had become on Lexx. Isn't it just in the spirit of the show that all that titillation leads only to frustration? At best, you get to feel slightly guilty for your interest, at worst, you get to feel as frustrated as Xev (I'm sure we all felt empathetic when she discovered just how non-functional some of his "equipment" really was). Shades of "Speaking Parts," don't you think? Lexx always seems to take pleasure in frustrating audience expectations, that's for sure.
I guess that is why most people on this thread said they would stay with dead Kai. On the one hand he is a no-nonsense assassin, while on the other, he is helpless and tragic. That's a powerful combination in a man. He's a protector who still needs to be protected.
